  1. I know with the older vats system (like what my 92 camaro had), you could bypass the key switch with another switch (just the signal wire to the starter I believe). idk if the newer ones are different or not though.
  2. e-mail him and ask him what the name of the website he is starting is called.
  3. gotcha, I forgot about those. g8 then here too.
  4. if you decide on a SHO and get the v8, look into welding the cams (pressed on lobes iirc).
  5. do you have two seperate litter boxes for the cats, and if so is the other cat using both? sometimes cats are territorial and wont share litter boxes.
  6. i was thinking an older diesel motor, kind of like the 6.2 that came in 80's blazers and suburbans, but it would be heavy and i didnt know weight would be a concern.
  7. any thoughts for a diesel? I understand they do well under water as long as they get air in the intake.
  8. I'm just saying what seems to me to be common sense. no use fighting over which engine is better modified, they can all be fast and unreliable. :fa:
  9. I would put most modified engines in the same boat as far as reliability. the more you modify an engine, the less reliable it becomes.
  10. are you still planning on working for the company, I'm only asking because it sounds shady that she refused to let you go above her head (provided the possibility of an open door policy).
  11. ^ twas my thoughts, didn't know how cheap he wanted though. :marc:
  12. also what i was thinking, would you be opposed to t-tops (or possibly targa)? you can pick up a camaro or firebird cheap, and if you really want cheap i believe the v6's made over 200hp, though you would prolly catch much shit for that lol. and the older fox mustangs are very nice with a convertible top imo.
  13. you said he looks up to you, you could sit down with him and try to teach him what you can. a bit of guidance with kids that look up to you can go a long way. my nephew is almost three, already he always wants to help me when I'm working on a car, so I usually let him take the lug nuts or something off when I'm working on them (I loosen them first though lol). after that he likes to watch what I'm doing, he likes fixing things.

would be interesting to eat those oat bars and white castles at the same time to see which one wins.
  15. the up and comers as you call it, where are they're home offices? last i checked money filters through there before it goes out to stock holders which is what i was referring to. and i agree about gm making most cars just bland these days. the only thing to come out the doors recently that spikes my interest is the camaro, and that's a car i cant afford. i dont disagree with you about the fact that gm should be left alone, and while the other car companies will have spikes (if gm goes under), who's to say that the same suppliers gm used are going to be used by the other companies? now i could be wrong, but i *thought* that most forign car companies used parts not made here in the us. and yes i realize that the big three are just as guilty (hell gm uses mostly parts made in mexico afaik). and i do realize that people will re-locate, but i remember seeing something on tv not too long ago about detroit specifically and the people there being too poor to be able to move to another city (ie, they couldnt sell they're houses and didn't have enough money otherwise to move).
  16. HOLY MOTHER OF ETHNIC ENGINEERING!! at least it works though. and if it ever fails, at least you can bump start.
  17. i totally agree. there are alot of forign cars are now built in the us, but some are still built overseas. and if gm goes under and people start buying forign cars built here in the us, your still displacing jobs. so while jobs are being created in marysville, kentucky, mississippi, georiga, or alabama, people are losing jobs in detroit (referring to gm specifically). either way the majority of the money is still going overseas when you purchase a forign car as well, which still takes some away from our economy. either way you look at it, i still believe that the government should stay out of business, even the ones that are "too big to fail". when the government was started the idea of laissez faire was adopted, too bad they arent holding to it. just a side note, i dont own a canadian built camaro any more, i own a mazda which was likely built in japan at the time.
  18. ^ sure thats a possibility, however what if the ones that were going to buy gm decided to buy forign after gm goes under? then less of the workers are likely to be absorbed by us auto makers. which still leaves the parts suppliers, they would still face a real possibility of going under too if they arent producing enough to make a profit. either way its unlikely that all the would be gm buyers would buy forign after the loss of gm, same could be said the other way around as well though too. imho i think all of the domestic car makers need to make more fun to drive cars that the average working man can afford.
  19. for a stock rebuild this would prolly be okay. if your getting into modifying the engine, then you would prolly have the extra money to have them done right. not something I would ever do though, I would want them done properly for anything I drive.
  20. ford t5 will only bolt to a chevy v6 (except the 4.3). the older ones though, like the 3.8 or 3.4 and such. iirc the 4.3 t5 uses a standard sbc bolt pattern.
  21. I hate when people live in low income housing or a trailer park or something and drive a 50k+ car. get your priorities straight. buy a beater and get a house, buy the nice car when the house is paid off.
  22. its all a crap chute these days, I guess ill try to figure out the lesser of the political evils and go from there. we need someone in office that will actually cut out wasteful spending and, dare I say it, but maybe even raise taxes a little as well. that way we can not only balance the budget, but actually start lowering the debt.
  23. I understand the quieting effects of a turbo. I get that the power is still there. just to name an example of what I'm talking about though, look at a neon srt4. iirc they don't have mufflers from the factory, they aren't overly loud due to the turbo/resonators, but it does sound agressive. now imagine if you put muffler(s) on one and a sound generator to replace the sound of the exhaust. you would still have a simmilar sounding car from the inside, but likely lose power due to the restrictions the muffler(s) would provide (referring to an oem style muffler(s)).
  24. came here to post this. I had a clutch fork break around the pivot ball and it was stiffer for a couple weeks until it actually broke. how is the car shifting, still smooth?
