  1. Thanks. I talked to him last night and he suggested Duncan. I went there and checked out their inventory. It's a nice collection, but the ones for sale are RHD. The Land Cruisers are 80- and 100-series which have a long wheel base.
  2. I'll reach out to the Farkas. Not FD (as in Mazda), what I'm searching is somewhat unusual. They're turbo diesel Daihatsu Rocky-Rugger (F70 series chassis, not the smaller F300 Rocky that was sold in the US for a few years decades ago) and turbo diesel (preferably 6cyl) medium wheelbase Land Cruiser (70-series, usually 73 or 74). I'm also keeping an eye for an Isuzu Trooper RS or Opel Monterey RS (short wheelbase for this line) with the 3.1l turbo diesel. The usual importers usually specialized in JDM cars meaning RHD. I'm sure a number of them are reputable, but I'm looking for a LHD.
  3. Lately I started a search for a few kinds of vehicles that were never officially marketed in the US. While there is a possibility of picking a car overseas and importing it under the 25-year rule, I would like to start with LHD inventory that's already on US soil. This rules out vehicles from most of Asian (including Japanese) and British and Australian markets. I found one such purveyor based in NJ, but I need more to expand selection. Does anyone know such an outfit? PS: I have reached out to Doc and he has been nothing but very helpful.
  4. For future reference, Julius Poa does headlight lens reconditioning which involves wet-sanding, polishing, and application of clear bra film. The film protects in multiple ways including damage from UV and damage from stone chips.
  5. Northend Wrench is booked solid, so try Payne's Service on Indianola
  6. This law doesn't affect me. I have not had a front license plate on any of my cars for close to 3 decades. Yes, I paid penalty for it at an average of every 2 or so years and I never mind it; it's like "bad luck disposal". The only drawback is that I cannot say any longer that my cars have at least 3 illegal things. Oh well.
  7. Just like weather and several other things in Ohio, I'll believe it when I see it comes to fruition.
  8. Not a new concept. A place I know in Columbus started almost two years ago.
  9. If you still had a few bucks in your budget, consider upgrading the headlights to LED. Those look like the common 7" units which are cheap to upgrade to DOT-legal LED.
  10. Clay, thank you for making me feel better about owning a stable of vehicles.
  11. There isn't much difference in behavior of drivers in pre- and during pandemic. At least it's the case I have encountered. Nowadays, my daily average of driving distance has fallen to around 80 miles (~125 miles pre-pandemic) in Franklin County. There is probably a slight increase in the number of drivers who drive at a range of significantly higher than speed limit, however that was already the trend pre pandemic. I still cruise at the same speed like in pre pandemic time, now it's just easier to reach a higher burst speed at a slightly longer interval.
  12. If only powdercoating is needed, I would try a different venue. Wheel Medic didn't do it right by me, so I never came back. My company uses Tristate Wheel LLC, but I don't have a personal experience with Tristate.
  13. Somewhere on Rt. 33 in Dublin, there is an outfit that rebuilds starters, alternators, motors, and generators. I can't remember the name of the place. There used to be a small shop by downtown owned by Mr. Le who rebuilt these things. I believe it's no longer in business, such a shame. I had the alternator on my previous '85 upgraded and rebuilt by him for $70.
  14. I may make it, I live about 1/4 mile from Hoover Reservoir.
  15. Weather is going to be cold tomorrow, but is CC&C back on yet?
  16. Glad to know that you are doing well!
  17. Shit isn't stupid with me: payments have been semi-regular (a weekday or two apart for each week with average of Wednesday), website works just fine, phone was a longer wait, but no big deal (I was able to reset PIN and to initiate benefits on the phone assisted by a clerk).
  18. The stock size has an OD about 31.5" and the closest size in 22" is 275/45/22 at about 31.8". Fitment also depends on offset.
  19. The next one shouldn't be that far ahead, likely before the end of '21.
