  1. hmm... How does this look? I had never heard of the part picker website...that's a really cool tool. I want to use this system to play GTA V on the PC when it comes out for the most part and I want it to be able to play it on high details as the very least. On average i only play LOL, Minecraft, and WOW but occasionally play CIV or Anno 2070 so my current system is fine with a 7970m but my processor is a massive bottleneck in most cases. CPU: AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core Processor ($159.88 @ OutletPC) CPU Cooler: Corsair H60 54.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($59.98 @ OutletPC) Motherboard: Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($108.99 @ SuperBiiz) Memory: Kingston Fury Red Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($74.99 @ Amazon) Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($49.98 @ OutletPC) Video Card: XFX Radeon R9 280X 3GB Black Edition Double Dissipation Video Card ($239.99 @ NCIX US) Case: NZXT Phantom (White) ATX Full Tower Case ($89.99 @ Micro Center) Power Supply: Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($59.98 @ OutletPC) Optical Drive: LG WH14NS40 Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Writer ($47.99 @ SuperBiiz) Total: $891.77
  2. I am honestly surprised by this story. We had WOW cable for 6+ years at 10/1 speed and had AT&T come along and offer us a lower price with the same speed so we switched to Uverse and were happy until we started gaming and watching TV all at once. We would change HD channels every 10 seconds and watch our ping spike when the channel changed then it would go back down to normal after a few seconds. Every phone call we got would lag our system as well. It was god awful and then for no reason AT&T jacked up our bill and said tough cookies. We were fed up so we went back to wow and their customer support has always been great for us and now gives us some sweet speeds at 15/4 right now for our old price. Also... WOW! does maintenance during the night 10:00 PM -12:00 AM. I found this out because I am a night owl and frequently go to be around 1:00 AM and every now and then my modem does drop connection (once or twice a month) for a few minutes and then come right back up in 5 min. I called them on it and they said that in the Columbus area that's when they do maintenance. Sorry about your experience though.
  3. I will be honest when I say i know next to nothing about Intel chips these days... I would rather have an i7 if the option is out there but is the i5 even good for gaming? I can watch Youtube vids all day long about benchmarks, but I want to know real world performance.
  4. I have an OEM disk already for Windows 7 so im covered there. Whats a good RAM deal for 16GB these days?
  5. So, I have been looking for a long time at PC components and I would like to get the CR opinion on what the best gaming rig would be for close to $1000? I currently have an Alienware M17x R4 and I am looking to sell it for about that price to build the best rig I can. I am an AMD fan, but would love to get a good Intel+Nvidia system if the price is right. So far this is what I could find. Opinions? CPU: AMD FX-9590 MOBO: Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 GPU: Radeon R9 280X RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X 8GB RAM PSU: Rosewill ARC 750W Bronze PSU CASE: Thermaltake Commander G41 Price = ~$970 (After SSD, HDD, and DVD drive)
  6. I use this all the time for CBJ games... I would also like to say that adblock plus highly recommended as well.
  7. It is a well known fact that TWC throttles your connection and will charge you for things that you did not do or should not be charged for. you are welcome to go on Youtube and watch plenty of videos documenting horror stories of people working with TWC and their support. They also have been voted "worst company in america" by a few internet voting polls. If you have the option, I would go with WoW! or get a very fast AT&T connection, because I can speak from experience by saying that the low end AT&T Uverse package is a complete joke. Since everything is run from the same box (TV, phone, and internet) it lags your gaming or Netflix every time you switch to an HD channel. I tested this several times and even found that when you receive a phone call the internet speed would dip for a while. I hated AT&T and switch to WOW! and I am 100% happy with them.
  8. *UPDATE* I am going to spend some time learning to weld from a few CC&C guys and am in the process of finding some parts to tinker with. I also received a PM with a really good idea to create a zero fucks given RX-7 as a "project" car before attempting the real thing. My project right now is: 1. Gain a few more skills (welding, working with metal, etc.) 2. Find some 13b parts to tinker with 3. find a shit RX-7 to play with Updates will follow.
  9. ya know... the worst part is that people are going to buy it anyways and make Apple millions off something that is not innovative or new by any stretch of means. =_=
  10. i'm just gonna leave this here... =P http://i.imgur.com/QQo8Lr2.png
  11. Not interested. Going to be overpriced and its not going to work on my HTC M8. I find them interesting though. People will still buy them and apple will make millions, but they are nothing ground breaking and are WAY behind the curve on what Android watches have done.
  12. I did some research last night on the housing and I think Billet will be out for sure. Center irons are $3k-4k and complete engine's are going to be well over $15k I was looking on ebay and the funny thing is, I could just buy two Cosmo 20b engines for $6k and then use those parts for the engine core. Would not be a bad idea in my opinion to clean up two 20b engine and then turn them into a 26b. Thoughts?
  13. @Beatercamaro this thread might answer your questions. I had this bookmarked for when the time came. http://www.rx7club.com/rotary-car-performance-77/building-peripheral-port-housings-144200/
  14. Well, the end goal is to "save money" but that's not really something that I can say goes with this project. If I remember correctly Billet housing are made of aluminum which are cheaper, correct? What is your idea on the Billet Housing? I have heard of them but know little.
  15. I just sent an email to Logan and will wait for a reply. I finished reading my new book last night and now I have a lot more information about potential types of 26b. I will post pictures tonight, but according to the book and the numbers that I ran on a 26b made from 13b REW housing would be less powerful than a 26b made from Renesis housing. the problem with the Renesis housing is going to be the heat and exhaust, but the power would be a lot more than the 13b housing. Cooling is going to be my enemy for sure on this project... I will add more project info as this goes on.
  16. I would go with something ethernet as well like the FireTV or maybe a Nexus Player. I have always enjoyed my Chromecast, but I have found its WiFi strength to be very low if it is not under 15 feet from my WiFi. I do have many walls in my house which do affect its performance but anyways... If you want to watch Prime Videos you can always get a Chromecast and then stream from a laptop to your TV with the Chrome Extension. It should be noted that that is in Beta and can sometimes be a bit glitchy (at least in my experience). For the best results with Amazon services I would go with a FireTV and set it up on wired internet or Firestick ONLY if your WiFi is strong in my opinion.
  17. This is by no means something that will happen overnight for me. I am well aware that this is going to take me a few years or so to complete at the rate I am going, But it is going to be so satisfying to complete. I am 110% committed to doing this and seeing it through to the end.
  18. Something that I came across in my research and planning it that I have decided to switch away from Renesis housing because of one BIG problem with P-porting them. The problem is that the exhaust ports on the side of a Renesis are already maxed out and can barely be opening up anymore without breaking through to the cooling area around the housing. I believe it could be done with some tweaking, but not worth it in the long run because according to some numbers that I ran last night it would weaken the housing WAY to much to run it hard or for a long period of time. Would anyone happen to have a way for me to get in direct contact with Logan? I keep hearing his name over and over and would be very interested to learn from him and his team. I really want to have an opportunity to work on an engine or play with some of the bits before doing anything and he sounds like the guy to talk to. Could I get his contact info? or is it worth calling Defined directly? It really does make me sad though, because I believe the Renesis could produce some crazy performance if made into a 26b. But so many things would have to be changed from a 13b REW housing 26b to make it work. I am not even to the part where tuning and timing come into play. Blah... I will update as soon as I find out more.
  19. 1994 Dodge Neon Mine was not anywhere near as good looking as this. Paint was chipping off everywhere and the body was rusted beyond belief. Drive it in HS and College and tried to kill it many of times just so I could buy a new car. The AT would never act right and the thing could not get over 60 sometimes on the HW... hate this car so much, haha Best part was, I got a $1500 for it when I sold it =D http://s1.cdn.autoevolution.com/images/gallery/DODGENeon1995-1100_2.jpg
  20. Just got a book in today and I will be posting any interesting findings I find within it. Should be a good read. For anyone out there interested in this sort of thing I would 100% recommend buying or taking a look http://www.amazon.com/Street-Rotary-HP1549-Horsepower-Reliability/dp/1557885494/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1422254692&sr=8-3&keywords=rotary+engine
  21. This was my group this morning for our 6:00 AM Skate!
  22. It is a very good point. I know the E-Shaft is going to be a very important part to consider. Any idea on what material would be the strongest/best? Metal? Aluminum? steel? I know the front nose of the RX-8 is able to accommodate a 26b because I do know of someone on the RX7 forums that was able to do it. This image is more or less what I am going for. http://www.rx7club.com/attachments/rotary-car-performance-77/287656d1206003977-one-method-improving-rx-8-power-dsc06654-medium-.jpg
  23. Ya, It looks like I can get some 13b housing off eBay for about $200 and a few rotors seem to be around $50 a pop... I wonder i can just find someone with a surplus of parts... I would pay $200 all day for a non working engine if I could just play around with it... any ideas on where I could pick up one of those? Craigs list and Ebay are empty from what see.
  24. TYSM Ryan... Very interesting thread. For those out there with more machining and manufacturing experience and skills I have two main questions. 1. When looking for parts to get this thing off the ground, can I just buy used housings off Ebay or RX8 club? what are things I should look for in images before buying? Risks from buying used housings or rotors? should I just buy brand new direct from Mazda? 2. is there a place out there that I could disassemble or work on a 13b to get some experience? if not... is there a shop out there that would let me learn a little bit by getting some hands on experience? Videos and Books only get me so far =( I also found this thread...which has proved useful. http://www.rx7club.com/build-threads-294/4-rotor-fc-build-974831/page2/ I had a very deep CAD background, but I have no idea how or where these guys are getting their measurements to create the E-shaft. I would love to know where so I could take a crack at it.
