copied from another board- Today, in Palmdale, California, WITH A 25 MPH HEAD/CROSS WIND, in front of all the Cycle World editors and representatives of Ducati, Honda, Triunph, Suzuki, Kawasaki, and Yamaha, Rickey G does the impossible.In a test for Cycle World for the best Middle Weight bike out, Dragracing has now experienced it's first BONE STOCK 9 second 600 pass..... Or passes!!! Guess what....... It wasn't on a Kawasaki. The Yamaha R6, ran a BLISTERING 9.93@135mph, backed up by a 9.98@135mph. The numbers were..... 1.54 60' 4.17 330' 111mph 1/8mi. 9.93@135mph

yes, the bike had lowering links,strapped front,sprocket change, pciii, and slip on. plus a pro drag racer launching it.

um.....i have PLENTY of drag racing under my belt. not so much with motorcycles, but i am NHRA licensed for 125"+ wheelbase to 7.5seconds. I started drag racing at 13 with juniors and moved up to super comp (8.9 index) in a 8.0x dragster. Shit that new V-rod runs 9's and it has shitty power and weighs a shit ton. I'm guessin those are inflated numbers as well. The cycle world test was not the same as the sport rider one. they did standard mods, and lowered it. shit they had either a 600rr or 636 that ran 10.0x as well iirc. they have the timeslip, you can't say shit about it.

sorry, but this actually happend. no adjustments. many people have run low 10's bone stock with the r6. with these few lil mods and a good rider, it DID print out the 9 second slip. sorry to burst your bubble.... edit- may have had a pcIII and slip on as well(less than 10hp increase)

Cycle World ran 9.93 @ 135mph in their middleweight shootout for 2005 on the r6. i read it last spring and just looked it up again on the net.

all i'm claiming is to be better than you in the twists/track. i'd gladly give you a 1000cc bike and let you do a 30 min. session, then i'll do a 30 min session and i'd more than likely still have a lower time on my 100hp deficient machine. although i'd rather run together so i can stuff you on the brakes.

Um.....you really might wanna do some research. Check out the 2005 middleweight shootout that Cycle World performed. With lowering links, strapping the front down, and changing a sprocket, they put the '05 R6 into the nines with a 9.93 at about 135mph.

earth to the fucking dumbass, GSXR's are RACE FUCKING REPLICAS!! just because you strip it down to stunt doesnt make it anything other than it was sold as. sure it's now a stunt bike, but it is still a RR!! Believe me, i'm not god's gift to bikes, i'm not even an Expert in road racing. BUT, i am def. a better all around rider than prolly anyone here. Lipps is def. a fast rider with that crazy r1 of his. Sorry, i'm not a stunter on these bikes, 650's aren't really good for that(lack of power,oil starvation problems, etc.), plus i just dont see the point of doin wheelies,burnouts,stoppies,etc. I am a racer at heart, no matter what it is i'm doing, i will always have a racing mentality. you are a stunter, and for sure would kick my ass at that, but if you wanna stunt on a MX bike, i'd be down for that for sure. Shit, i was doin no footed can-cans and layin it flat on 80's back when i was 13. -Busa, SV's are known as STANDARD/sportbikes, not the same as the sportbike/race replica category. My bike is a pure race bike, and i have a race license, so i guess that would make me an ACTUAL racer......

no, it's the fact that i've been on two wheels since i was in kindergarten. Not to mention that within the first few months of ever riding a streetbike I was already dragging knees and wearing my tires onto the sidewalls......And if he has that bike, then he DOES have a race replica! Which would make him the ignorant one.

then please, enlighten us as to what you DO ride. your s/n makes it sound like you ride a 600. And, believe me, put me on whatever bike you got and I'll show you how it's done. The only thing other than turns are straights.......and i sure as hell know how to do those fast, especially from a stand. And please, if you dont want to ride on the pavement, i'll especially whoop you in the dirt. BTW, my name is Drew Brenner.......you might wanna write that down for the future, cuz i'm sure you'll hear it again.

i'm not sure what HK is but idk if that's truly translated to horsepower.....anyway, you can see that he has some power when he is smoking the tires down those straightaways with ass hangin out at some pretty good clicks. ofcourse it'll get squirrely on a 1/4 mile.

nice posts larry. those links really drive home what i was trying to say. Also, this guy has a 2500 dollar budget,right? Last i checked that was a beginner bike price range, definately not for the 1000SS bikes.....

i agree, the new R6 is gonna be a tough competitor. over 120hp about 4krpms of good power and supposedly handles like a 250. can't wait to see these on the track. Suzuki's gonna need to step it up. can't wait for the new suz. to hit the showrooms.

that's what i'm saying though, 4500 on up it has way more power. idk about you, but i like to stay above 4500 when i'm shootin around town. until you ride an SV you dont know what the feeling is like. it's VERY easy to ride. why do you think SOO many people suggest to start on an SV,GS,EX?? if the bigger faster bikes were better, then that would be the concensus.

it's not about being dumb or whatever. it's about a company knowingly putting it's customers at risk. And BTW, she wasn't drinking it, she dropped it on accident trying to put in her cupholder. It was truly McD's fault for keeping it's coffee over 40degrees hotter than most people enjoy their coffee. If it's hot enough for 2nd degree burns and there is no warning about that, then it's their fault and they are liable for any injuries. -
dont forget about the missing midrange. i'd put my money on a new Triumph 675 triple. The guys at KWS were the first to find this out a few weeks ago. it just now is being "broke" by the media.

come to the track, i'll show you the fast way around on a "little girl's bike". I'm sick of people like this who think that power is all that matters. Let me put this out there for ya. Go out and ride an SV. Just find one and take it for a quick jaunt, preferably in the twisties. and Busa, you'll just have to trust me that the SV is a better beginners bike. You dont need throttle control because even when you whack it wide open it just pulls, no wheelies, no spinning, just a nice steady pull. The whole point of having the broad power band and torque is so that you dont need to give any throttle to get anywhere. just roll it on and away you go. Whereas the 4-cyl needs to be revved, have the clutch slipped and then when you crack it open to pass someone suddenly the front end stands up and then you're in a pickle. Basically, the SV, Ninja 650r, etc. have the low HP, easily to ride powerband/torque, and are amazing bikes for an expert to setup and ride in the twists/track. Think of it as starting on the 125's and 250's before moving up to the MotoGP premier class. If you jump right into the big bike you may at some point become a good/fast rider, but those who learn on the smaller bikes will have a huge advantage over you. And since this person has NO motorcycle experience, i'm 100% sure that a starter bike(SV,Ninja650,GS,etc.) would be most advantageous to him over a 4-cyl bike. I know plenty of people who have ridden these bikes, moved to the 600,750, and 1000cc bikes only to return to the SV's because they are more fun to ride. to each his/her own.
