  10. ad hominem is not a valid argument. todd may very well be an asshole (), but that is not something that has any bearing on whether his arguments are valid or not. often times, the best indicator of how some future event will turn out, is to look at the past. Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.

  14. as for how to flush, here is how i would do it 1. Drain out all the old coolant. 2. Replace the bolt 3. Fill the system with Distilled water 4. Run the bike for a few minutes 5. Drain the distilled water 6. Repeat steps 3-5 until the distilled water comes out nice and clear. 7. Fill the system with water/coolant. 8. RIDE!!!!!
  15. about 95% of coolant nowadays IS safe for aluminum, but its doesnt hurt to read the label and doublecheck just to be sure.
  16. if you dont like the thread, why do you click on it?
  17. lol chill out dude. i think there is a misunderstanding due to the wording of this quote "On what map is Arkansas closer to Kentucky than Illinois?" the way i read it, and i assume JRMiii read it too, implied that the distance from arkansas to illinois is less than the distance from arkansas to kentucky. that is not true. judging from your response, i think that what you were trying to say is that the distance from illinois to kentucky is less than the distance from illinois to arkansas. this is true.
  18. the problem with the MC and taking forever to get fluid through is because the MC can not pump air. when this happens, you can loosen the brake line bolt at the MC, and pump till fluid squirts through, then tighten it back up and build up pressure at the lever. put a rag under there too, as brake fluid is nasty shit and will eat your paint. ive used a mityvac with minimal problems before. speed bleeders are better, but the mityvac works well. \ and +1 to not draining the lines if you are just changing fluid. if you are going to change pads and stuff too, i would resist the temptation to just pop in the new ones and go. whenever i change pads, i like to take the caliper off, take the pistons out and clean everything up nice and shiny and regrease the sliding pins. polish the pistons to remove dirt that will cause leaking or binding. it takes a little bit longer, but IMO brakes are very important, and its cheap insurance.
  19. yeah, but you are not a candidate for the second highest office in the country either. the things for me that really struck a cord were her saying that alaska's proximity to russia gave her meaningful foreign policy experience, and not being able to name a newspaper that she read, instead stating she read "all of them". even if she never reads the paper, surely she could have just named a newspaper. new york times, chicago sun-times, hell even USA today, which probably came to her hotel rooms every day. its not even the fact that she doesnt read the paper either, but moreso, to me at least, it speaks of her ability to think quickly on her feet and respond with a rational answer. or at least one that sounds good.
  20. and while on the topic of botched geography... dont forget mccain speaking of the "iraq-pakistan border". i think EVERYONE misspeaks from time to time...
  21. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&saddr=Kentucky+St%2FTN-78&daddr=I-55+S+to:37.026129,-89.188385&hl=en&geocode=FeD6LAIdnIWs-g%3BFSp4JAIdRJ-k-g%3B&mra=dme&mrcr=1&mrsp=2&sz=11&sll=37.030514,-89.274902&sspn=0.237901,0.374908&ie=UTF8&ll=36.943855,-89.208984&spn=3.810589,5.998535&z=7 68 miles from the westernmost point in kentucky to arkansas 98 miles from cairo, IL which seems to be the southernmost point in IL about this point though the last Democrat controlled congress was the 103rd. from 93-95 104-109 have been republican controlled. we are now on the 110th, which is democrat controlled. about to be the 111th in january. so from 1993 to 2006, the republicans were in control. the last 2 years have been democrat controlled. i dunno if 2 years qualifies as "quite some time", especially compared to the 13 years congress was rep. controlled prior to that.
  22. yes, all of those numbers refer specifically to black voters. the post i quoted said 95% of blacks voted for obama... and per the post that it quoted, seemed to imply that they were voting for obama because he was black. i was pointing out that blacks always overwhelmingly vote democratic. the highest percent of the black vote any republican has ever gotten is 18% for mcgovern in 72. its possible that it was higher in a previous year, but they didnt start keeping track of this stuff until the late 1960s. 95% is the highest its ever been. twice it was at 90% democratic. 2000 and 1984. now i guess you could contend that the extra 5% of blacks voted for obama because of his race, but i dont know if i buy it... in 2000 bush got 8% of the black vote. mccain got 4% this year... maybe half of the black republicans didnt like mccain, or were unhappy with the current state of their party? 9% of republicans (of any race) voted for obama this year, compared with 6% the year before. also when you consider that 17% of people who voted republican in 2004 (of any race) voted democrat this year, it seems more likely that the 5% bump in blacks who voted for obama was due to disillusionment with the republican party.
