  1. yeah its 42K but its also in blanchester ohio. who the f wants to live there? there are houses for sale for a dollar in detroit too... you could buy 42,000 of them!
  2. you mean FOUR weeks paid vacation instead of the normal two?
  3. crimes committed by police officers should carry a higher penalty than those committed by regular citizens. just the same way that a crime AGAINST a cop carries a higher penalty than a crime committed against a regular citizen.
  4. ahh yeah, that makes sense... we could see it from the grandstands, but weren't totally sure what happened... it was POURING in columbus on our way up there, so i was hoping that the races didn't get rained out. everyone seemed like they were OK after crashing though... they all got up and were walking around, so i hope your friend is all good it rained in ashland right after the final heat, and they never got to run the mains. they ended up doing it on sunday. at least we got to see the heats though... we saw a kid bite it real hard into the fence at ashland too. it was scary for a few minutes, he was just laying on the track not moving. after a while he got up and was moving around though, so thats good.
  5. yeah, going 30 between dead stopped traffic, or going 50 between cars doing 20 is definitely doing it wrong. general guidelines in california are dont go more than 10 mph faster than traffic is moving, and dont split at over 30 mph. so if traffic is moving 35 or 40 mph, you should just get in line. if traffic is at a dead stop, you shouldnt be going faster than 10 mph. http://www.chp.ca.gov/programs/lanesplitguide.html your claim of more accidents in california (the only state that allows it) than other states is dubious at best. first, you cant just count accidents, you have to count accidents per X number of miles traveled. obviously california has more MC accidents than say, wyoming just due to population. there are probably more MCs in cali than people in the entire state of WY... so you have to compare crashes per X number of miles traveled... that way you can make a comparison between places like california and wyoming. second, the hurt report shows that california has LESS MC fatalities from rear endings than other states. California: 6.0 rear-end fatalities/billion miles ridden on the highwayFlorida: 9.0 rear-end fatalities/billion miles ridden on the highwayTexas: 9.4 rear-end fatalities/billion miles ridden on the highway now, i know the hurt report is 30+ years old, but it's pretty much the only comprehensive survey of mc crashes that's been done. USDOT was supposed to do another one but it's been put off for many many years. hopefully they can get it done one day and we can get some new stats. so yes, if you just count the number of MC accidents overall, of course california will have a higher number than most states, simply because there are more riders there. but that's kind of disingenuous, and not really representative of lane splitting crashes.
  6. ahh you put r6 plastics on it that makes sense now... i saw that pic you posted in your reply to me the other day in your profile, and im pretty sure i saw your bike on the track too... i was like how he hell does this dude ride an r6 in the vintage race??? i thought maybe you were in some crazy class i didnt know about lol. you asked where i was too, during your race we were right at the bridge between turns 9 and 10, leaning up against the gate that opens out to the track. there is a speaker on a post right there, and that's where i heard them say your name. after that race was over we walked up and got some food and then went through the tunnel under the track and sat in the grandstands at the end of the back straight. that was the race that 3 people went down in turn 9. not sure what happened there... either the track was super wet or someone's engine let go and dumped oil everywhere... 3 of them went down one right after the other. we left not too long after that, and went up to the fairgrounds in ashland for the flat track races. ive got a bunch more pics, but they are on my digital cam... these two were from my phone. i MAY have a photo of you on there too, ill have to look again, now that i know what bike you had.
  7. because screw waiting in traffic, and screw getting rear ended. incidents like this in the video are the exception, not the norm, and that could happen to you WITHOUT lane spliting.
  8. Thanks man, wish we could have you. Maybe next year I didn't get it. pelotoniamoto@gmail.com. You can PM me here too, and I can send you the links to sign up. Thanks! Let me know which day works best for you. You can PM me or email me at pelotoniamoto@gmail.com and I can send you the link to officially sign up.
  9. Yes I did. The riders start to leave at 7 am. It's usually only fast and experienced riders that ride on Sunday, and the distance is quite a bit shorter, so you'd probably be back in New Albany in the early afternoon. If you are one of the first escorts to go out, you'd probably get back there earlier. I think last year they were pretty much completely wrapped up at the finish at 4:30 PM me here or shoot an email to me at pelotoniamoto@gmail.com if you can help out. Thanks!
  10. We start saturday in downtown columbus at 6ish am. I dont have the official start time in front of me, im posting from my phone but.I believe the ride officially starts at 7 or 730am. I will post up when I get home with the official times. Last year im pretty sure I was in gambier by 4 or 5. Then its about an hour ride back to Columbus. Maybe a little more.or a little less depending on what part of town youre going to. If you are able to help out you can email me at pelotoniamoto@gmail.com and I can send you the links to officially sign up. Edit: sorry I saw you said you can help sunday. The ride sunday starts at 7ish in gambier and ends in new albany. I will post official times when I get home
  11. Oh man how could I forget the free food and beer? There is free food and free beer at the end of the ride on Saturday!
  12. i had the same problem. it seems like nearly EVERYONE has a full inbox. Did the mailbox size change or anything? I don't recall ever having problems before the upgrade...
  13. In the past, many Ohio Riders members have helped out big time with this, and we are asking for your help again this year. I know a lot of people from here are riding their bicycles in the ride which is awesome, but we are looking for a few people to help out with escort duties. Basically, what you do is ride along the route and help out any cyclists who need assistance. Most of the time this is stuff like flat tires, chains coming off etc The dates for the event are Saturday August 10th, and Sunday August 11th. Most of the help will be needed on Saturday, but there is a need for a few people on Sunday too. There are dorms available at Kenyon College in Gambier if you want to stay the night, but you are welcome to make other arrangements as well. If you can only help out one day, that is totally fine too. I tried to reach out via PM to some people who did it in past years, but some people have full inboxes (Fuji9 and Cheech). If you don't have a bike, or can not ride, but still want to help out, there are some non-riding opportunities that we need help with also. You need to have your license and will be expected to wear a Helmet, jacket and gloves at a minimum and have your bike registered, plated and insured. Also, your bike should not be super loud at slow speeds. No open pipes. We dont want riders getting scared or going deaf. We will provide a yellow Icon vest for you that you can wear over your jacket, so that you can be identified as part of the escort team. If you are interested in helping out, please reply to this thread or PM me. THANKS!
  14. i dont really understand how ppl were getting late fees in the first place... they send you a notice like a month and a half before it actually expires. plus you can renew online in like 3 minutes.
  15. the report by the Bipartisan Policy Center that said there are ample supplies of natural gas to meet demand without a significant price increase. they argue that prices drive exports, not the other way around. http://bipartisanpolicy.org/library/report/new-dynamics-us-natural-gas-market
  16. hey were you racing at mid ohio VMD this past weekend? i thought i heard your name over the loudspeaker.

Yes I was... Was racing in the 90's super bike light weight class. Was in garage 7&8 all weekend. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v619/fireman_343/image_zps28e2cb82.jpg

      Where were you at?

  17. i think they are just trying to streamline things... i mean all 5 people who used latitude aren't going to make G+ overtake FB or something now... IMO the app is what you want it to be. if you dont want the public to have access to your location, then you can restrict it. if you want your wife to be the only one who has access to it, then you can set it up that way.
  18. it's not gone, it just moved to the G+ app. there is a location tab the G+ app slide out menu. it works exactly the same as latitude did, the only difference is how you organize the people who you are sharing with. you choose who you share with by circles. you can share publicly so anyone can see, you can share with extended circles or just with certain people. you can set up so its always sharing, or only certain dates/times/locations etc.
  19. there was recently a case in colorado where the police illegally seized a bunch of medical (legal in the state at that time) which they claimed was worth 200K. obv it was not worth anywhere near that much since they always inflate the price to make themselves look good. the victims sued to get it back, and the police ended up having to pay their BS inflated value back to the victim.
  20. yeah they were at the ashland county fairgrounds, about 30 min away from mid ohio. the swap meet was kinda weak this year. walked all around and could not find a decent seat for a cb750... what kind of vintage mc swap meet is this? lol seemed like there were a lot more complete bikes for sale than there were parts. if you want to buy a whole or parts bike, it would be a good place to go. if you're searching for something obscure, good luck. youre gonna be searching for a while. i had more fun walking through the pits talking to racers and watching the races. the flat track at ashland was tons of fun though. although it rained out right before the mains, so that kinda sucked, but we got to watch all the heat races and talk to some really cool people in the pits.
  21. ill be up there saturday. probably gonna hit ashland for the flat track races too
