I had looked for a 3rd-row Tahoe for months. Never quite found what I wanted. Settled on a 2-row. Did a lot of reading, and people were 50/50 whether you could easily/safely add a 3rd row. (Ebay pic) http://accessabledesigns.com/ricky/Installed_Brackets.JPG I got mint, color-correct leather seats for $200 from CL. The kit was just over $100. Well worth it. If any of you are searching for a 3rd-row vehicle, this may be an option. I also scored a rear carpeted mat, so when the seats are out, I can put the mat in, covering the brackets. Looks nice and completes the clean install. Kids won't ram their knees into the brackets either.

In summary, I love you, CR. But, it's a love-hate relationship, and I secretly want you all to buy tires that are 6 years, 1 day old and die in a fiery glorious explosion head-first into an I-270 overpass pillar tomorrow. Nope, I believe my oil is worn out at 5,000 miles. I don't believe every single 6 or 10 year old tire is bad. PS, love the news article showing re-treads that came off as "old" new tires that exploded.

6 years, huh? There is no magic age on a tire going bad. Tires should be inspected for condition, not for a stamp on the sidewall. Sorry guys, all of you that have been conditioned to what these pretty chain tire stores and dealerships are selling, are paying too much and being fed a lot of BS. Just a true story. At the risk of sounding old and grumpy and the know-it-all, I sold thousands and thousands of new and used tires for 10 years. The age of the tire was never the cause of a single issue at the shop. To have a silly policy that they can't reseal a rim that is 10 years and 1 day old is simply in place to sell you a new tire. Right or wrong, that is what I will always believe. I will also never believe that a $50 tire repair is warranted. Ever. Back to Top Gear.

I stood over tire changers for over a decade... 6 or 7 days a week, often times working on farm equipment, off-road equipment, etc that was far rougher than 99% of the shit the chain stores get in each day, and on machines far older and less safe than today's. I am more than qualified to post my thoughts on tire shops. Thanks.

Christ, they won't even repair a tire that's that old? I am so tired of hearing some of these chain stores and their ridiculous policies and prices. "It's a safety thing." Bullshit. It's a sell more new tires, mounting services, and road hazard thing.

Ha. I love the wide tire discussions. I run 31x18.5's and as it sits, would only run a 13 off the juice. When the truck was built, it had a 305, highway gears, and I still loved how it looks. But then again, I did the unthinkable and put staggered tires on a lot of 4 banger S10s too. Carry on, all your cars look great.

68 during the day if nobody is home, 71 during "normal" hours, and 68-69 overnight. I believe it saves a lot of money. Back when it was just my wife and I, I think we always kept it between 67-69. I go higher now in the lame hopes that it will keep my 3 kids from getting sick as often. I am on natural gas as well.
