  1. Are you going to be riding the new R6 when you get it? Have you ever ridden before? If not, I would highly recommend just getting your permit and waiting until the MSF course. If you have no experience on bike, trying to pilot one through that test will be difficult to say the least. It was hard enough on the 125 I rode during the MSF training course. On a sportbike, whose natural position is on it's side at low speeds, it would be extremely difficult. Basically you have to do two u-turns in a box. You enter the box (rectangle really) on the right side, and make a u-turn to the left, and head back to where you entered and make a u-turn to the right. Once you have completed the final u-turn, you accelerate out of the box and do a swerve to the right. Next, is the braking portion, where you make a run at some cones (come up to 12-18 mph), and brake. The shorter the distance you stop the better. Finally, you will make a run at some more cones, execute a sweeping turn to the right, go straight for a short distance and upshift into second gear, and execute another sweeping turn to the right. You must stay between the lines marked on the course for this. If you drop the bike, you are done. If you do something unsafe (wheelies, trying to run over the evaluator, etc), you are done. If you put your foot down during the U-turn portion or cross out of the box, you lose points for each time you put your foot down and each time you cross outside the box. For the swerve, you lose points if you hit the cones or you don't enter the swerve fast enough (they time you so they know how fast you are going). For the braking portion, they time you to get your speed and use a chart to determine in how much distance you should have stopped. You lose 1 point for each foot over the 'ideal' stopping distance (I think it's 1 point) to a maximum of, I believe 5 points. And also you can lose points if you go too slow or brake to early. For the sweeping turns, you have to be at a certain speed or higher. They time you entering the last set of cones and points are deducted if you do not complete it in a certain amount of time or if you cross outside of the lines. This was the easy part for me - I accidentally downshifted and had to upshift back into second and was still .3 seconds faster than I had to be.
  2. Where are you guys meeting and what time?
  3. I'm interested in rolling out too. How far is Hebron from here?
  4. Droptop, check out that Nighthawk 250 that firebirdgt in the Corral is selling. A newer 600 is too much bike for a beginner. I won't even mention a 900. I'll admit, I started on a 93 CBR600, but that bike was NOTHING compared to 2000+ year 600s. After having been out of bikes for 5 years, then buying my ZX-9, I can tell you what a shock this bike is. It's not broken in (not even 100 miles on it), and I haven't had it much above 6000 RPMs, but it just seems like it wants to pull and pull. I can't wait until it is broken in, but at the same time I'm cautious about it. In first and 2nd gear, it seems like I could pull the front up very easily just rolling into the throttle hard. A 250 is a great beginners bike - it's light as and not so powerful as to overwhelm you, and really allows you to concentrate on LEARNING to ride correctly instead of learning to ride while hanging on or dear life. If you feel like you must have a 600, you could also go with an early/mid 90's 600 - they're going for pretty cheap and still have PLENTY of power to get you into trouble. You can turn around and sell it in a year.

    Computer F/S

TheManWhoSellsParts - I'm interested in it too. Any idea if it can run OSX?
  6. buckeye -would this fit in a 94 taurus gl (I think mine is a 3.0L)
  7. I bought a set of Vega Matrix boots. Pretty comfortable so far.
  8. I bought by ZX-9 from ASK in Reynoldsburg. Salesman's name was Eli. He was pretty helpful and I kept them past closing a few times getting the bike and paperwork, etc. He went over what he thought I should get given I hadn't ridden in about 5 years. He actually recommended a GSX-R600 or something else, but I just couldn't resist the Ninja.
  9. 200 for the pumps. Do you have the 03 Cobra tank as well? If you go to the dual pumps, the tank is generally recommended with them. Let me know.
  10. New rider + powerful bike = crash. He had no business on a GSX-R1000. But he's 21 and a football player, so he can 'handle it'. Guess he forgot that the bike doesn't care what you do for a living. It just does as it's told (or not told as the case may be).
  11. 1993 CBR-600F2. Good looking bike that still looks fairly modern. It's not bad for 2-up riding and is not very heavy (400 lbs dry, which was light then). It is a sportbike, so not as forgiving, and, even though it has 'only' 79 HP, it is more than enough to get you into trouble if you are a new rider. Tops out around 145 MPH (I know). Handles nicely and can keep up with the pack in the twisties if it has a competent rider. Plus they are cheap, now. I don't know that I would recommend a 600 CC sportbike as a first bike, but it was my first bike. I have a fairly level head. It is doable if you respect the bike and keep your head screwed on straight. Current bike - 03 ZX-9R. I just got this baby after being out of riding for a couple of years. I have taken it around the block (3 TOTAL miles so far), but I am taking the MSF class this week to refresh myself and also try to prevent myself from re-learning any bad habits. The ZX-9R is NOT a beginners bike. It weighs about the same as the 93 CBR (~400lbs dry), but is a little wider and perhaps a touch taller. I need to adjust the suspension on mine to make it sit a little lower so I can comfortable touch the ground. Has much more power than the CBR did down low. I can see that it would be VERY easy to get into trouble on this bike, and it feels like it would wheelie in 1st or 2nd gear without too much problem. If someone REALLY wanted a sportbike as their first bike, I would say an early/mid 90's 600 is probably the best thing to start with. The newer 600 bikes are so much more powerful and lighter than the older 600s it's ridiculous.
  12. BDHG940 - price is right on the pumps you mean?
  13. Thanks Anthony. Honestly, if you can let me know how much they are, I will go ahead and get them from you. One less thing a potential buyer has to worry about.
  14. Kit includes: 99 Mounting bracket (I had to trade for this as the kit came with a 2001 Cobra mounting kit). 3 core intercooler and piping Polished P1-SC pullied for 8 lbs Coolant crossover PRO-M univer MAF Boost Gauge and single gauge pod (I also have the connection kit from autometer). Also an Air Fuel gauge. Both are Autometer Ultra-lite gauges. 03 Cobra Tank 03 Cobra dual pumps (these pumps have a few dyno pulls) 03 Cobra fuel injectors (~16,000 miles IIRC) You would need to get the 99 Install manual from ATI and you would also need th mounting bolts to mount the headunit to the bracket. When I was swapping brackets with the other guy, the old bolts were seized and I ended up stripping them out (designed who use allen bolts should be fired). 8 lbs should probably get you above 450 RWHP, but I was going to pulley this unit down to make 6 lbs because I wasn't brave enough to put it on a stock engine at 8 lbs. I have decided to not supercharge the cobra because it's an expensive step I'm not fully ready to commit to - that and I got a ZX-9 which will probably be faster than the cobra was going to be, even supercharged. 3400 OBO Thanks for looking
  15. Droptop - 8600 OTD. 0 miles on the ODO. Like I said, ASK Grove City had two 03 ZX-9s over there last week. $7999. I couldn't pass it up for that price.
  16. How did everyone break in their bikes? With the CBR, I did as Honda said (well, mostly). I have seen the mototune method. Anyone have any comments?
  17. Thanks to everyone for their help on deciding which bike to get. I decided to go with the 9R. Just brought it home last night (actually trailer home). It's an 03 leftover that no one wanted, poor thing. I got it from ASK in Reynoldsburg. If anyone is interested, I was in Grove City ASK last week and they had two 03s (lime green and a silver one) that had been marked down to 7999 - both still brand new. http://home.columbus.rr.com/lmosle/bike/9r1.jpg http://home.columbus.rr.com/lmosle/bike/9r2.jpg http://home.columbus.rr.com/lmosle/bike/9r3.jpg
  18. Jon, I have a craftsman 1/2 drive that measures 20-250 ft-lbs. (click type wrence) and a craftsman 3/8 beam-type wrench that measures 0-75 ft-lbs. Hit me with a PM if you need them.
  19. When did this happen? When I was using Wow (a year ago), the routers and backbone were different - WOW internet was not using Roadrunner backbones at the time.
  20. I have had both WoW - better signal analog cable signal than TW. Some of this may be the wiring to my house as WOW seemed to use a better cable. Roadrunner vs. WoW internet - speeds about the same. RR might have less latency. The nice thing about RR is that the news-server is unlimited downloads. The bad thing about the the news server is that it frequently is missing articles. With WoW you are limited to 6 GB/month, and I never recall seeing dropped articles. Because of the news server I say advantage goes to WoW. Digital cable - WoW has more channels included in it's digital lineup (Sundance, and some of the other movie channels). I also thing it's digital signal was a little better. HDTV - TW, when I switched back to them, had more channels. I don't know if WoW has caught up yet. I prefer WoW over Time Warner, but I switched back to TW because they gave me a $60/month deal - digital cable + HD + RoadRunner. At the time, for WoW, I was paying a little more than 100/month. If I had to pay full price, then I would be using WoW, and not TW.
  21. Adonis Tuvalu. Wonder if anyone will buy that name if I use it...
  22. jallen100 - you have one what sitting in your store? What store is on E Main? Thanks for all the input. The GSX-R, while a REALLY nice bike, is also a little more race-oriented than I need (heck, I guess a ZX-9R is more than I NEED). Believe it or not, passenger comfort is fairly high on the list. Although I'll be riding it by myself mostly, I don't want her to hate it so much that she won't go with me if she can. Then she'll be wanting me to get rid of it. I Drive It, my Wife also expressed some concerns about how much higher the pillion is on the gixxer vs. the Ninja.
  23. When I heard Clarrett went in the 3rd round, I was like WTF? Then I heard Denver - it makes total sense. When it comes to RBs, Shanahan is a freakin' genius. He couldn't pick a QB to save his life, but RBs are his thing. Best Part: My mother-in-law hates Clarrett and is a HUGE Broncos fan
