  1. If you have any guns i would be more than happy to watch them for you as they wont meet cali regulations.

Nor are his cars. Cali doesn't look kindly on cars modified to dribble washer fluid on the intercooler and racetrack.

I love SoCal save for a few big issues.

  2. Classic Shell does everything that you want.

Edit: I run Classic Shell on my laptop, but don't need it on my Venue 8 Pro tablet. The Metro interface works well enough on a touchscreen.

  3. I enjoy building systems, so I'll throw my hat into this: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/JDZrYJ

You get the latest "Devil's Canyon" i7 4790k CPU (4+GHz stock!), 16GB of DDR3-2133 CL9 RAM (with room for another 16gb), Crucial's latest M550 256GB ssd (fast and features built in power backups and is extra reliable), and the power efficient but still plenty powerful GTX750 Ti.

You'll have to reuse your case, card reader, OS, and DVD drive to stay under $1k.

  4. I knew several guys years ago who went to various tech schools, and the first thing they did after graduation was to open a Snap-on credit account and buy $10k-$20k of storage/ tools. Do you have any idea how long it takes to pay something like that off? They regret it to this day.

A close friend of mine bought one of the nicer Professional Harbor Freight boxes >10 years ago, and he's still got it to this day. Yes, buy a quality box, but you don't necessarily need a $5,000 dollar roller cabinet from Snap-On.

Bottom line is this: You're getting into this business to make money. Remember that when you spend money on your profession.

  5. Jeffro gets it.

Jason needs people that beat it and are still alive, or beat it and lived until 85 and died of natural causes. Stories of people who only survived 6 weeks are going to drive her into a depression, and you're not helping her.

  6. Bought this thing 29 days ago, I enjoy the size quite a bit, but don't really need it. Comes with box and charger. Seriously like new, absolutely flawless.

    It's white, has a 7" 600P screen, dual core Marvel SOC (1.2ghz i think), 8GB storage.

Edit: forgot about the microSD slot and the IR blaster. This isn't the "lite" version. Runs Android 4.1.x, 4.4 release has been teased by Samsung for this Summer.

  7. You can't be serious. No, expensive hdmi cables aren't better in anyway other then the retailers making more money with the huge margarines in cables. :dumb:

    http://www.cnet.com/news/why-all-hdmi-cables-are-the-same/

That being said, there are different specs for HDMI, but the newer are all backwards compatible.

Also, are you sure you want a TV above your fireplace? I've always found the viewing angle to be terrible, and the fire distracts from the TV and vice versa.

  8. I have Chrome installed on my laptop, Note 2, HTPC, and Tablet. I'm signed into my account on all devices, and I like being able to share open tabs between devices (IE, opening a youtube video on my phone, and watching it on my HTPC or tablet.)

The problem is this: I want a different bookmarks bar for my HTPC than I use for any of my other devices, without losing the ability to share open tabs. I don't read any forums on my HTPC. I want items like HULU, Youtube, Netflix, Projectfree.TV, etc. If I change the bookmarks bar on my HTPC, it changes on my laptop as well. Does anyone know of a way to have different bookmarks bars on different devices?

  9. Thanks, I must have had a brain fart.

Century Link's customer service rep could bearly speak English and after 20 mins of searching, told me they do not service my neighborhood. I've been an Insight customer in the past and left them for AT&T a few yrs ago, so I doubt I'll go back to Insight/TWC.

WOW sounds good, I called and they have to check to see if they can service my house. $30/month + $10/month for modem/router + $50 install fee.

Any suggestions/insight on purchasing my own modem and router? I would like it powerful enough to reach my bedroom...our phones/tablets work fine, but our wifi tv does not.

You're better off with something like THIS, THIS, THIS or THIS than leasing the modem. $10/month is more than any other provider charges.

  10. I'm in a similar boat. We're got TWC, and they keep jacking up our bill. Century link is my only other choice where I live. CL charges $100 to install their modem, $30 if you install their modem, and ~$7 a month lease fee. You can BUY a DSL modem for less than $30. I just don't know what their upload is, they don't list it. Their website shows me 10mb down for $39.99/month WITH a 12 month contract. Where do you see 20mb for $25?
