    LS7 money question

its not fixed yet if you want to see it. if people are so worried about a hole in the block then i could just rebuild it and put it in my car and spin it up to 7500 like my orginal plan was. i have no problem with this engine at all as the hole is no where near any water jacket or oil galley.
  3. it was jasons engine. i may be wrong on this but these heads may out flow the ones you have, they are massive you would have so much fun at it, autocross>drag racing. ask paul and chad. its a non lock up converter 502bbc with a 400 behind it in a 79' TA. IIRC he has a 3400 or 3600 stall and 3.73's
  4. you have no idea what your car really makes HP or TQ wise. only if you put the engine on the dyno will you know. TCI told a buddy of mine that chassis dyno will tell you nothing in a high stall auto car. on the engine dyno he put down over 650 horse with spray but in the chassis dyno only 415hp. yet he still ran 10.90's in a 4000lbs car, with the drive train he has 650 flywheel is what it would take to put him in the high 10's. i myself think that 3600 is too high of stall, but what do i know, i have a hand shaker:lol: put a LS7 in it;)

the hole in the block is the size of a pen. its not in the water jacket and didn't affect anything other than the looks of it. it was caused by the connecting rod cap bolt.

    LS7 money question

then again you don't know for sure that the 8000 engine didn't have sleeves put in it or what happened to that engine before. that block is not serviced so its not like they went to a dealer and bought just the block and put it together. scott, if you can talk her into it than i will sell you an LS6. good luck with that though lol. so if 7k is too much for this engine than what is a fair price for it then? 6k? 5k?

so 1500 less with the same mods is a bad deal?

    LS7 money question

vince, it wasn't in any water jackets. the block its self isn't where all the expence comes from. the rods my cost are $340 each and heads are $1500 each. you can put all these parts on a sleeved LS2.

    LS7 money question

not too sure, i was thinking in the $6500 range if i do the stock rebuild. depending on what the person wants the price would go up (i.e. aftermarket cam and oil pan.) so call it 7k for the long block and be well over the 505hp mark. thats half of what it cost new so thats a pretty good deal still.
  13. i am rebuilding a 2006 LS7 that had a dropped valve. now i can do it a few ways here, i can rebuild it to stock pan to heads or i can put it back together so it will bolt into a LS6/1 car. so would you rather see a LS2 front cover and vette or f-body oil pan with the crank cut down for a LS6 (vette or F-body) balancer and wet sump? stock or aftermarket cam? or put it back with the LS7 front cover and the dry sump? stock or aftermarket cam? either way its getting fordged pistons. also how much would you pay for a rebuild LS7? it did have a hole in the block and head, it also had 4 sleeves replaced. 3 just because of a mark i saw at the very bottom that i did not like, one because it was cracked. i was going to put this in my vette but i think even though it would be super awesome since i already have it i can use the money to be debt free sooner. if anyone is intrested in this engine i can build it to your specs. for your car (hint hint scott).
  14. you should start with the easy stuff first. air filter and clean the MAF. a dirty MAF can read dead on on the scan tool and still be the problem, fixed many cars with just cleaning it off and reinstalleing it.
  15. just don't buy a cheep one from nape. there are no side supports and the press will bend and shoot the parts back out at you.

  19. they sell a hole saw at lowes to make them fit your engine. just clean up the walls with some concrete and you'll be good to go.
  20. i have some LS7 pistons you can have that don't have holes melted in them kekekeke
