Just curious, are they even considered illegal?

I agree, $5/gallon isnt the end of the economy but at what price would you consider buying a more fuel efficient car or consider drastic changes to your lifestyle? $7, $8, $10 a gallon? Most American cities (especially in the midwest) are far too spread out to really reap the benefits of public transportation. Of course it works for places like London, NY, Chicago and San Fran (parts anyway) because they've learned to build up not out. Urban sprawl has spoiled us. I would love to take the train or monorail to work everyday and not have to worry about the making a car payment every month and extra money to maintain a car but its not possible in Columbus unless you live on campus.

Sweet jesus. My brother drives an expedition and it costs about that much to fill up. But he works less than 5 miles from home. I could/would never spend that much on gas. 60/week is roughly 240/month, but if your filling up at least twice a week thats like 480/month. Thats crazy.

Thats one thing I wish the ipod had, a radio tuner. I thought about moving to a Zune but theres no way I'd be able to have a Zune in my pocket at the gym or on the treadmill, the ones i've seen are way too big for that.

BINGO! If you drive a truck/SUV and want to pick up a small "beater" thats good on gas. Goodluck. Every small 4cyl car will be way over priced and that hunk of 'merican steel sitting in your driveway will be about as worthless as your 13mpg rating. If gas hit $5 I would have to at least CONSIDER moving close enough to work to ride a bike everyday. Even if it was just in bearable climates you could still ride at least 10 months out of the year and if your close enough to ride its not like your using alot of gas even if you do decide to drive. If gas went up to $5 it would take roughly $60 to fill up my piece. $60 would suck on a weekly basis but on a monthly basis wouldnt be so bad.

I was waiting for someone to say it. Good idea but you have to remember your not the only one thinking of it. Soon enough small companies that produce veggie system's for diesel's would hit huge profits but restaurant's getting rid of the oil would wise up to the fact that they now possess a valuable commodity to some, so therein they would sell it meaning no more free fuel. And if your thinking of buying new veggie oil forget about it, its like 5.00$ right now.

Yes, if it were an over night change alot of society would break down. But Im talking gradual, say in the next 3-5 years gas hits 5$. One thing to keep in mind, when i was 16 and started driving gas was only $1.20 a gallon. In eight years the consumer has to pay more than double what they previously did. I garantee the next car i buy i will be preparing to pay at least $5/gallon while I own the car. Buying a bike would definitly be beneficial. Its not like your the only one with the idea so there's bound to be more bikes on the road meaning HOPEFULLY the average motorist would be more bike friendly. The downside, prices of bikes would soar with all the increased demand.

So I was watching this show called "what if we ran out of oil" or something to that effect. It was a hypothetical situation that the oil reserve's have run out or are running out and oil was trading at $160 per barrel. My question is, what would you do if a gallon of gas cost you $5.00? Or $10.00? Would you consider selling your car? Changing your driving habits? Moving? Just think of how much this will effect your life.

Contact the credit bureu's. I remember reading about it in a finance book like 2 years ago and have no idea what it was called. Its a great way to protect yourself but it will be a PITA to get a new card if you want in the near future.

I just saw it. Honestly it seemed they were at least making an attempt to show both sides of the situation. I believe one of the lines the reporter said was "(after mentioning being involved in a racing community) just because Mr. Stanton was a part of this racing community does not mean people should jump to conclusion's about what happened". Notice they didnt actually say "columbus racing.com", they just said "a racing community". Not defending anyone, just saying this is what I saw/heard. EDIT, they did mention CR once. I was wrong.

HA, yeah. Charley's was started by a Korean guy and most of the chain restaurant's are owned by Korean people. It is possible to put a freeze on your credit bureu profiles aswell. If they have your card information they most likely have or can gain access to your social security number and open addittional cards without your knowlege of it.

For the most part thats true, I would much rather play hockey (ie, indoor) than do many other sports. Though I'll try anything at least once. And dont knock donkey show's until you've seen one, it can really be quite entertaining. "I felt bad the the girl, but honestly I felt even worse for the donkey"

See I never understood why someone would get into a seasonal sport like this in a place like Ohio. Yeah our winter's suck but its only because they're cold, not because we get xx amount of feet of snow per year. Snowboarding looks like a blast and I'd love to try but I doubt I'd spend money for all the equipment just to go a handful of times a year.
