From growing up in NY around Italians and Irish families my whole life I've noticed this much. Everyone talks, and EVERYONE knows "A GUY". Im not saying you should disregard a threat as nothing more (especially if it could be from a viable source) but more often than not they are mere words and nothing more. So unless you did something heinous and rediculously bad towards someone who might actually know "a guy", I wouldnt be too worried. On the same not, I dont think your overreacting. Just being prepared, which is good. Better to have a gun and not need it than need it and not have it.

Im not a gun expert but from what I've heard from some of the guys who are better versed on guns is that a shotgun is better for home defense than a handgun. Most notably being penetration (or lack thereof for your neighbor's sake) and a wide variety of lethal and non-leathal munitions. Can someone tell me if Im wrong?

Couldnt have said it better myself. No one ever leaves that place once they get in. They only die or retire. I worked with a guy during the week who was there part time, the way he explained it to me is IF your lucky enough to get your foot in the door your on some sort of 'rotating' weekend shift as a part time employee before your considered for full employment. If they call you to work at 6am saturday morning, your ass better be there. Then they can also call you to work 3rd shift Saturday night. You pretty much on call every weekend no matter what. The only stipulation is that they cant work you 2 shifts in a row, or is it 3? I dont remember. The benefit, even at PT he was making 24$/hour. It just sucks you have to stay in limbo that long until you can get a regular shift, but its worth it if you can get in. Oh and there no bottom of the barrel jobs there. If you drive a forklift your probably still making alot.

I THINK those seem's might only be visible because it was filmed. Similar to rolling lines on a television when you see it in a video. At least I hope thats the case.

As said before, if she's willing to go into the military that would be her best bet. She doesnt have to be a grunt, she can push paper's for 4 years and get some bullshit admin job at a company somewhere. I personally would recommnd looking into becoming a dental hygenist (sp?). I know a girl who got her Associate's degree in this and makes decent amount right out of school. Im sure the Army has a similar program too.
