If I'm clocked and the cop gets my plate but doesnt catch me I'm pretty sure there would be cops at my house when I arrived. even if I beat them home I'd prolly leave in handcuffs regardless of how much i lied, BUT I could mow down a bunch of people in the Exploder keep going and say "dunno who was driving it" and I'd be off the hook? Stupid stupid stupid Thought that crap only worked if it was reported stolen

Mine always rubbed before, after I changed pads and lines last time I haven't heard it? maybe I'm not listening for it either cause its normal but maybe it will go away probably wont but there isnt anything wrong with it. I guess if it really bothers you you could take a c clamp to the calipers every time you park it, just make sure to give it a couple good pumps though when you start rolling

  9. qft, I don't blame the guy who got the job before me because he went to college I blame myself for not sticking with it. just dumbass kid stuff, didn't flunk just stopped going. My fault not theirs.
  10. work out some kind of sign language so she can let you know if she is skeered/has to pee/whatever. also tell her how you ride so she knows what to expect. I usually ride slow anyway and slower with a passenger, but I let them know if my ass comes off the seat, sight-seeing is over get some weight on the pegs cause something is in the way, corner a little tighter than expected etc. You get the idea. Scaring them can make for a very long uncomfortable ride home for both of you.
  11. ^^^ While I agree with the military thing, this "college graduate had the motivation" theory is not what I've typically seen. In my experience its more likely to run into a college grad who had mommy and daddy pay their way through and somehow think 4 years of beer bongs somehow means they've "paid their dues". Nowadays it seems to me that degree/no degree you still run into the same amount of idiots.

    yeah i'm none of those, it left off lazy ass/no imagination...mine is the name my first ever dial in connection "suggested" for me based on first/last name I have OS2/IBM to thank for it.

I don't have the manual handy here @ work, but there should basically be a certain resistance between the plugs that connect to the stator (this is all on the Regulator rectifier itself, what the yellows connect to maybe) and to the hot (red?) in ONE direction and to the ground (black or green) on the other direction. and I believe there should be no continuity between the yellows on the RR? Like I said I have to check. Also on the wires from the stator there should be no continuity from the those to ground either. So put that multi meter in Ohms disconnected the battery and take some readings. See if you can find a shop manual on-line for the gixxer, in the "charging system" section it should have some baseline readings you can take. I can check mine when I get home and give you a little better idea...but like I said different makes so a specific manual might be better.

  17. careful on that bike and welcome...I have a late 90's honda so i'm well versed in charging problems, but no where near you. R/R should be a 20 minute fix, easy to test to if you have a Clymer or something that can give you baseline readings. Alot of folks replace the Honda units with Suzuki or yammie units so they probably are pretty close, rip that bad boy off break out the ohmeter and post the results, gotta be someone on here with a working unit that can be compared to also. Probably grab one on ebay for like 20-30 bucks if yours was bad. Oh yeah and if you think the R/R is bad don't run the bike or you'll cook that nice new battery you just bought!

  22. I found my wife a jacket at newenough.com she doesnt ride enough to be concerned with the latest fashion in motorcycling so I grabbed a last years joe rocket something or other for dirt cheap. Don't remember model or pricing but just thinking wow thats so cheap even if she never rides with me again no biggie. Jacket itself is nice, came with the zip in liner and stuff so there ya go....

If they make such a size a 90/90 would be a bit skinnier so in theory may turn in a tad quicker. havent really looked at tires in those sizes but the 110/90 "sounds" more common so any quickness you may pick up going skinnier may be overshadowed by more choices in a more common size, offering a better quality tire? Radials perhaps?
  24. I've seen a few around here, and know a guy down in Bluffton with one. I think they had some top end oil pressure issues but if they weren't thrashed should be ok. I rode with him on the highway with both his V65 and the super magna (750cc) and he never seemed to have any issues at freeway speeds. I've also heard they respond well to radial tires (even though manufaturers will advise against it ) +1 on the Sabre, it was the "standard" version where the magna was the cruiser I liked that style alot better. Its a 20+ year old bike, if you find one it will need some TLC but I"d definately rock one if I found a clean example. The 94-03 magna's while maybe more reliable took a step backwards in some respects, drum on the rear I believe and single rotor up front. I rode one and while it wasn't terribly slow it was definitely tuned for "niceness". If you stayed in it, it would scoot pretty well but a decent running v65 (at least 3 cylinders firing) would leave it for dead. The brakes were abysmal though and that was back when I weighed 140 lbs....basically same brakes as the nighthawk 750 with 100+ lbs extra attached. So if your a bigger dude, something to look for.
  25. Picasa/google crunches them down too. I wouldnt use them for a "backup" system 'cause I like to keep the originals fulls size but they do a pretty good job with the compression, pics aren't destroyed by it.
