  1. It's a deterrent, if you think it's anything more than that you're fooling yourself.

    )

You already provided one video that bunk'd itself on gaining entry (with no additional code) please tell me how anyone is getting into it without the code, without my biometric, when its in a hidden compartment and the other people in the home literally dont even know its there? :dumb:

Also more importantly- addressing the original issue-explain how IF my kid got their hands on this said gun that I did not fail as a parent if they go and shoot their classmates?

No one? You make it sound so simple, why isn't anyone trying it? Maybe in a red state where conservatives can do what they want? Like Texas, maybe.

Because people get arrested for physically disciplining their children, something that was common place a generation ago when school shootings where non existent. Because people (like you) seem to nothing can be done if you have a "hard" to deal with or mentally ill kid. Example A

Some kids are easier than others, and once we factor in mental illness, all bets on parenting are off.

After all, I'm told that all school shooters are ipso facto mentally ill. Can attentive parenting cure mental illness?

    Of course not. .

    .

Its not about "curing" mental illness. Its about identifying the most likely individuals. 1) Trying to help them and the parents mitigate risk 2) helping the child cope with their own issues and become a productive member

of society. Sure, no one wants there kids label. No one wants their kids to be different. No one wants to know their kids have potential for these acts....but pretending they are normal and hoping nothing will happen-or begin a parent that thinks they can do nothing about is IS being part of the problem.

  2. its tough for libtards to grasp

Funny thing is I would be considered a liberal I would assume. I voted for Obama. I think Trump is a Mom n' Dad Motorsports fucking moron who would be a failure if it was not for the millions in start up he received from family. I am absolutely embarrassed as an American he is our commander in chief (problem is Hilary would have been just as bad). I support abortion, I grew up poor and on welfare. I absolutely think gun control needs to be tighter. I think people need to pass physical (proof of ability), written, and mental exam become being given a LICENSE to own a firearm..... (the problem with this being that all of the "grandfathered" gun owners would never give up the guns and most would not bother to test)

But my brain WORKS lol. Its mind boggling to not see that fixing this starts at home, and trickle down to early Identification of problem kids in the education system and simple social media tracking.

  3. After all, I'm told that all school shooters are ipso facto mentally ill. Can attentive parenting cure mental illness?

PS. Is my gun safe actually safe, or not? LOL

Educators are trained professionals, and are TRAINED to ID this shit. Some go to school longer than doctors and all require continuing education.

I am not a professional educator. I volunteer at my son's school pretty regularly. I can tell in 2 minutes which kids are a little off.

    My son is 4.

When I was in High school, you can tell within 2 minutes which kids where a little off. In a week you know which kids where into weird shit. In 2 weeks you heard about the kid that bragged about trying to set a cat of fire.

Its not rocket science. We know who these kids are. No one just wants to step up and put a label on it.

At all stages of life people have a general understanding of what and who is normal. There is nothing wrong with being abnormal, however in the past the abnormal ones where Identified and handled pretty quickly. Now since we are society of fucking snowflakes, we have to treat everyone "equally". Identifying the red flags for kids that have this potential would be very easy with proper profiling. ALL of them are writing on social media, diaries, and have previous incidences that can be tracked. NONE of them come as a surprise.

I do, however, think that fewer guns in circulation would mean fewer abused guns, which would mean fewer dead children

All the guns used in this shooting were legal, and on no ones radar for "gun control". A simple pistol and small shot gun. Are you suggesting that all pistons should be turned in?

  4. I've always been partial to the older XJRs they just seem to say "test my gangsta"

    3k- with a blower!!!

I have to say-my first job was a ported at a Jag dealer. I was 15-would ride the bus there (we where poor). And I literally though I was in heaven. I though anyone that has a XKR or XJR was a celebrity. Maybe thats why this strikes a cord with me...but MAN- I approve!!!

  5. Not for nothing, but fingerprint scanners are garbage.
of a whole bunch of gun safes sucking, with fingerprint scanners towards the end. You can lift prints with scotch tape and super glue and load the results into photoshop to do whatever you want with, including making casts. Certainly within the realm of possibility for a bored teenager with access to youtube.

    1) The synthetic he used was opaque. The reader could easily read through it- he is using HIS finger for the "test"- its most likely reading HIS finger LOL. He proved this himself at 32:30 LOL. This is bunk, and the 3000 views in 5 years is proof of it. :)

    2) You need the print, and the code, to get into this safe.

If my kid can do all that without me noticing I failed as a parent ... right??? Lolz

Yes, 100%. I honestly don't know, but are you a parent?

You're either a helicopter parent who never leaves the house and never lets teenagers out of your sight, or kids can pull this off. I don't think leaving the house for a couple of hours while your teenager is home alone is a parenting fail.

I honestly don't know, but are you a parent?

Its not about being next to your kid 24/7. Its about making sure they have value in themselves, value in life, respect authority and always respect their parents. You know, the basics. When I was 16 I woudl not have attempted some counter inlet espionage James bond bullfuck plan to break into a bio metric security gun box for fear that I would get the had of god to the back of my ass- AND I WOULD DISAPPOINT MY PARENTS. This isnt staying out past curfew, this isnt mouthing off to mom in an argument, this isnt cutting class, This isn't having your first beer at your buddies house party, this is trying to gain access to a weapon that's sole purpose is to end life. There is no higher "no fly zone" in any household.

So if your kids think of doing this at 16, then yes, they simply didn't respect you. So yes, as a parent, you failed.

Its pretty shocking to me that this seems to be a novel concept.

  6. I would love to see what manner you think a 16 year old could not access your fire arm if they really intended to. Also any fire arm your going to secure like Fort Knox yet again will not grant you access to such weapon in a time of need for defense

Locked up firearms hidden deep in the basement unloaded is not going to help you when someone kicks in your front door

    https://vaulteksafe.com/vaultek-vt20i/

Unless they cut my thumb off, they are not getting in or past the biometric scan. That, and its in a spot that is almost inaccessible. If they did find it- they would need tools they don't have to remove it, and have to literally destroy the wall its withign to get it out. IF they did get it off the studs, they would likely destroy the gun trying to get it out. For you "door is kicked in" scenario mind you I can go from in Bed to gun in hand in 7 seconds (yes I have timed this) .

Now IF my "16 year old* they did all of this to get their hands on a little Glock 19, and they did not destroy it while trying to remove it, then again I Failed as a father.

  7. Not at all but if from a picture of you can tell something is off how do you think it will look in person? And I don’t think he is trying to just impress people at a car meet with it haha

If that car pulls into any parking lot there is a .01% chance someone is looking at that and saying "oh yea, I can see the flood damage from here"

In fact I just looked again and I am having difficulty seeing a specific issue with it that screams flood??

  8. With 150k and multiple accidents on the carfax one being a disabled tow ya it’s that cheap considering retail average with hose high miles would be about 11.5-13 with a good carfax

In the spirit of this thread....

does anyone ask to see the carfax when you pull up to a car meet? Or, in this case, the local Ice Cream stand? :p

  9.

We're trying to sell our place soon and might have stumbled into an opportunity where someone wants to buy it that my wife knows.

I can help you facilitate the deal. No charge. The paperwork aspect is very easy. Title does the "heavy lifting" anyways so no big deal. I have bought and sold several FSBO. Being int he industrial helps with understanding the process though. ;)

I tried to sell without a realtor... it never sold, I ended up hiring a realtor and paid out the ass but had the house in contract in like a week...

There is indeed great value in using a real state agent if you have no industry experience. In this situation when there is a buyer lined up however- your literally flushing 6% down the toilet.

  10. So, hypothetical situation.

Parents luck up guns. Kids break lock and use guns. However they do this, use your imagination.

Still think parents are an accessory?

    Yes.

I am 100% sure I can secure my weapon in a manor my children could not access it. If they did, I fucked up.

Also, if they went though such means to access it to harm innocent people while they lived in my home and I didnt see the signs (im sorry, none one of these mass-shooters where "normal" people) then again, I fucked up.

Either way, as a father and a productive member of society I have failed.

  11. So wait here just back peddle this on up, are you trying to say since this kid took his parents gun that it’s the parents fault now? Would it also be their fault of the kid took the steak knife from your block and stabbed a bunch of people?

Steak knives are made to cut shit. Namely Steak. Guns have one purpose and one purpose only, to kill shit.

I still think comparisons like this are stupid on many levels. That being said in both cases it is the parents responsibility to teach their kids simple right form wrong, and to respect authority. Where parents are failing is kids should have the fear of god, and ultimate respect in them for their parents. Plain and simple. Too many parents are afraid to lay a hand on their kids because of a sue happy society and doctors that have made a reality that any kid that is "stuck" even out of punishment is "abused". No matter what.

I also think ultra violent video games have successfully desensitized america. I grew up playing NBA JAM. I though Doom 1 was wild. Now, you can basically practice rape, kill, behead, mass murder for 6-8 hours a day in the comfort of your bedroom in full 1080p.

Multiple levels of fucked, no easy solution.

  12.

I have $2500 and I'm wanting to put together an ls engine. I'm not sure how else I can put this dude.

    .

So after you put it together, are you just going to roll it into your living room and look at it? Is the other 85% of the build going to magically fall from the sky?

And listen, its the internet. I get it. It may not seem like I am trying to help, but I am. I am just saying its impossible to give accurate advice here without knowing 1) Your actual goals (not your hopes and dreams) 2) Your TOTAL budget. Again unless you had a car/trans/chassis in hand (as Lauren below) just giving a price/opinion on an engine, for me, is about impossible. But if you have $2500 to spend on only an engine, and thats all your buying- Aluminium Escalade 6.2L should be the only thing on your radar.

What's the cheapest LS engine to buy. I fully plan on lsx swap in my range rover. Already sourced the adapter plate and mounts.

Any $200 4.8/5.3 or 6.0 (if you get lucky) you find.

  13. Those people are running 4L60's in their junkyard 5.3 swapped Colorado that blow up in half a pass under any real power :gabe:

    Fixed

My $2500 budget is literally JUST FOR AN ENGINE .

Thanks for the clarification, but a budget "just for an engine" makes no sense to me unless you had every other associated part for the build already. You have to consider the cost for everything in any real budget for, well anything in life. I mean, when you budget for your family expenses for the month, do you just look at the cost of Milk and Cheerios and call the budget done?!

Im lost here, so I'll just walk out of this one. GLWbuild!

  14. Number one- Make up ya' damn mind sir.

$2500 all together for the engine alone. With the costs of t56's I'm just gonna buy a t56 magnum

Ideally this would be in a manually shifted rwd shitbox, on a somewhat tight budget. Say $2500 (including motor purchase price) excluding all the fuel system minus small adapter type stuff.

    l.

You either commit to the budget- or go full retard. There is no middle ground here.

Your biggest issue to make this budget-by far- is going o be transmission selection. Everyone wants to pretend LS's are super cheap-but the only thing cheap is the initial log block purchase-and then your like everyone else on sloppy mechanics with a 15k build sheet- but all you want to talk about is your $200 motor. :dumb:

That being said- you can do it. Need a T5 or Nv Truck 5 speed or a Muncie 4 speed- T56 ain't cone happen in this market. bobo' Motor of your choice- random Sn95 chassis (because Fox bodies are so fuckign played out) whatever $100 Cam and used springs you find, used HP tuners, and you will be tickling 400whp in your budget constraints. This is the only way its goign to happen, and yes, I am an expert. ;)

  15. I say funny because all I ever hear and read from the dumb ass so-called car people online is that those blowers are junk and are a waste of money...hahahahaha. pretty much all of the quickest cars I've been around have that style blower.

    I like it.

    Fixed.

When they first came out they where kind of junk, but compressor and gear efficiency have come a LONG, long way.

  16. Lawmakers: These are bad so you can't have them anymore.

Law abiding firearm owners: O...ok...I never wanted one anyway..

Not to mention, I don't think "fucking around" is a term that should be used when it comes to firearms.

    This.

    And really-

Who the fuck is arguing about "IM MOVING TO CANADA UNLESS I CAN KEEP MY BUMPSTOCKS!"

    Jesus.

  17.

    • The window seal trim that has lost it's clear coat
    • The windshield since it's severely sandblasted from 200mph blasts....that would be covered under insurance as I'm sure a rock would eventually nail it
    • and lastly the front air damn lip....sand blasted and scraped. It's minor but easy and cheap to install a Zr1 lip.

    .

    fixed. ;)

    Great work sir.

  18.

Mortgage broker...mortgage banker...semantics. And your servicing portfolio is what...made up of basically only the loans you can't sell?

There is always a one-off situation. I wouldn't try and sell that as the norm and misrepresent yourself.

    -Marc

No our Service portfolio is 95% Fannie/Freddie/Ginnie conforming and 5% non conforming portfolio products.

You can read my previous post. I never said it was the norm, just that the statement that you had to be underwater was not correct. ;)
