  1. too cold??? I had a tshirt and my perforated suit on. I kind of thought it was a bit chilly but not too bad. hey by the way, do you know rob hancock? I'm thinking there was a day I drove up to putnam to hang out with rob, mike, and john at the cycle options track day back in april or something. was that you on the gsxr with a orange rear rim?
  2. so how did the ride go? I got out down there late. around 2pm. rode all the routes I mentioned. never seen anyone but 2 guys I knew. I can't belive hardly anyone was out. such a nice day.
  3. 10 and 22 suck compared to 165 and 1504. both are deserted mostly and perfect surfaces. no blind bends etc.. perfect for some good riding. it's actually the 2 best I've ridden in kentucky around here. in my opinion. personally, doing the same road over again is risky. you just came blasting through and now headed in the same direction a cop might be if someone called on you. if you know what I mean:D if any new riders plan on meeting up with the guys, just ride your own ride, these roads are not beginer type roads.
  4. damn I'd ask to tag along but it's only going to be 55. I'll wait and see what it's actually like before I ask to tag along. chris make sure you take him down 165 and then turn right on 62 for maybe a mile or two to right on 1504. both are some fantasic roads. 1504 will bring you back to 62. you can take that right to 19. go down 19 a few miles to left on 539 (539 is a goat path, so be cautious) this will bring you back to Rt22. left to falmouth. right to Rt 10. (you probaly already know all this.)

    cincy?

this weekend looks to be fantastic weather. who can ride and when? I know ped is going. I can go sat and/or sunday.
  6. ok guys we need to go on at least one ride this year before old man winter comes. I'm down for this weekend. sunday I do the regular ride with some friends, but they might be too wild for you guys. I can do saturday though. 0r, you could come with us on sunday. we stay in Kentucky down in the sticks. away from city traffic and cops. yotaman, will you be around for sunday the 28th as well?
  7. same here. I just had to start a new job:rolleyes: too late in the year for me to pay for nesba membership so, I can't go.
  8. if you are going to buy an air compressor, might as well get a big one. at least 25-30 gallon. you can start buying impacts etc...but a 25 gallon like mine kicks on a lot when I paint fairings and a tank. it keeps up but not if I painted anything larger I'm sure.
  9. stay away from the 4cyl. it wont haul but one bike. it might do two, I've never tried. its a very weak engine. producing only about 89hp at the rear tires. the v6 is rated at 180hp and 245ft/lbs of torque. thats the same torque as some early 90's V8 trucks. I have 2 s/10's. a 4cyl and the green one in the pic with a v6. the v6 can pull a shit load. I've had my bike in the bed and 4 on a trailer. pulled fine. gm actually recomends the automatic for towing. My V6 has a oil cooler too. factory installed. it still isn't a v8. but a v8 engine swap in the s/10 is very common and easy.
  10. no you can't close it. it comes within about 4" of closing though. I strap it up so I can put stuff in the bed.
  11. you can fit 2 bikes in a small truck. I put 2 in my GMC sonoma. you will need to install a U bolt in the bed to have something to hook the straps to. I put mine up close to the back of the bed so it doesn't get in the way of anthing else. any hardware store should have some,http://www.uboltit.com/products/order-form-bolts.html#Round%20U-Bolt

    cincy?

I'll have to agree with the general consensus about localriders. but if it wasn't for the guys I have met through there, I would never post or look at it at all. almost all of the guys I've met never really post at all anymore. lizard has given me a nice hard time on there before, but I don't really care. I can take it.
  13. well you can. . some of us like a faster pace and the new guys want to try and keep up. but they don't have too and we tell them this. we always wait for slower riders at stop signs and turns etc. we think higher of guys that ride their own skill level and play it safe. one or two of us will do a wheelie or two here and there. but we are not hooligans etc.. jermattak, we always welcome a new face to ride with us. we ride every sunday. weather permitting. but we don't always take the good roads. since some of us has been riding down there for 10 years, they like to shake it up sometimes. if you are interested pm me. I'll give you the details. or anyone for that matter.
  14. I know of this guy that thought he was the man at riding because he could do some decent stunts etc.. until he came to a trackday with us and learned very fast he doesn't really know how to ride a bike.. it was just funny as hell.
  15. christ man...I change mine with tire irons all the time. but I use pieces of tropicana orange juice jugs for rim protectors. and to break the bead, http://www.webbikeworld.com/t2/bead-breaker/motorcycle-tire-bead-breaker.htm I spent $12 for tire irons and that's it. once you do it a few times its a piece of cake. just remember to use soapy water on the rim and tire to lube it.
  16. how good of a rider are you? I'm not trying to be a jerk but there is a bunch of great roads south of the river. I only ask because they are not something for new riders. plus we end up pretty far away. these are country back roads with little traffic and posted 55mph speedlimits. but the roads can be tough for a newer rider to navigate safely at those speeds. I've seen probably 20 wrecks over 4 years.
  17. if putting up with winter means riding curvy roads in the summer I'll stay in Ohio. there is no curves in florida. old people dont like them....
  18. just thought I'd share a heads up. I know all you peeps never break any laws  hey satan, I was using that same avatar in another forum. its pretty funny.
  19. hey guys/gals, I wanted to share some info about the story on the front page about the supposed crack down at Deal's Gap. seems the warning may be bogus, as posted on www.tailofthedragon.com "We have received numerous emails concerning the recent posting on the Internet by a supposed Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper warning of dire consequences on the Dragon this coming year for speeders. We do not post rumors on this site so we contacted Captain Ray Fletcher of the Knoxville Division Tennessee Highway Patrol. He confirmed as we had believed that some of the details in the post are completely false, such as the immediate arrest and impoundment of vehicles for speeding over 50 mph on the Dragon. Captain Fletcher was not able to comment on whether or not the post was made by a Trooper, but some of the language, unusual statements and obvious errors as stated above make us believe the post was by someone other than who supposedly signed their name and position to it. Obviously a real Trooper would not jeopardize his job by signing such a post. Captain Fletcher stated that the laws will be enforced on the Dragon as they are on all Tennessee roadways. Tail of the Dragon advises riders to obey the laws and they will have no trouble with the Tennessee Highway Patrol or Blount County Sheriff Deputies. We will post relevant news as it occurs in the coming year. Watch for continuous updates." just thought I'd share. these type of rumors have been going on for a few years now and it seems like every year they get wackier and wackier
