someone wanna help me route my garmin for 10/22?
serpentracer replied to mrmako777's topic in Events
10/22 doesn't exist....find alternate route. -
it's fine. the R6 has a coolant temp controlled fast/cold idle. mine has done this about 3 times on me in the last few years.

I pray this is just casued from sitting so long..

I know breaking in a engine can be a heated debate. I just bought a new engine for my truck. it came with a booklet and a chapter about breaking in the engine. it said to let the engine run at a fast idle until it comes up to normal operating temp. then let it cool off completely for at least 3 hours. take vehicle up to 55mph then let it engine brake and slow the vehicle down to about 20mph. repeat this procedure 10 times. then the engine is broken in and drive normally. I've never heard of this procedure before. I would def never do the break in from mototuneusa that says to basically beat the snot out of it from mile one to get the most life of the engine. I've emailed 5 powertrain companies such as Jasper and none of them recommended me to use his procedure. **** this is the link to the bad advise site, that is avised to not use it's procedure***** http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm -

if it needed fork seals already, I bet the first owner liked to do wheelies. and if done long enough wheelies a lot of times, I bet the engine was starved of oil on the cylinders and it's now burning oil. check the plugs to confirm it. -
it's great having a printer that prints on both sides.

movies of modern real life events....should try to not become make believe. hell, even star wars (which is total make believe on purpose) try to keep it real. when I see things like tires squealing on dirt in a movie it just spews cheap moving making to me. if that scene hinges on the noise from the tires, it was written, produced, directed by morons. if I want to see make believe movies, I would watch childrens cartoons. I don't want to be subjected to "entertainment for children" if I'm watching an adult movie. now seeing a car chase and hearing a tire squeal even if the car happens to be in a little dirt or something is one thing, to blatantly expect me to be entertained by poor movie making such as a car that is already moving do a wheelie all the while it's driving on the dirt, is absurd and asinine. it doesn't go with the movie in other words. if the movie was obviously make believe (so to say) then that would make sense in the movie. but we are talking about events of real life. it's not the same if they ramped a car and kept driving. even though we all know that can't happen. but a car doing a rolling wheelie on a dirt road? that's idiotic and disrespectful to everyones intelligence in my opinion. that's why I don't go see movies such as this. it's supporting the ignorance.

I like the squealing tires and a car pulling a wheelie(while already moving) in the dirt on the comercial... cheesy isn't the right word for these movies, they need a new special word made just for them:D

hoblick if you hook up the crankcase breather hose to the ais(air injection system) to suck air from the crankcase this is supposed to "free up" some hp. you will find a system similar to this on many race cars. they even run vacuum pumps to scavenge air from the crankcase. for everyone else, the ais system on a yamaha sucks air from the airbox straight into the exhaust port to clean up some emissions. it can be removed, or it can be made into a crankcase scavenge port to suck air from the crankcase, in theory, this will suck pressure out of the crankcase allowing the moving parts no pressure resistance. I've also heard it will aid in the sealing of the piston rings too. you can find this same principal on many cars on the track. think of it as a very strong pcv (positive crankcase ventilation) system.

hey lizard why should we listen to a "mid" pack racer?
-
man you guys need to get away from those. those are not riding roads. riding roads are the ones you can go for at least 10 miles and has more curves than straights. (south of the boarder, KY) just don't piss off the residents so they quit calling the Kentucky state police.
-
I know someone that has a 04 that was dyno tuned to 109 wheel hp. you want to know something? he doesn't pull one bit on me down the straight at the track. I have 0 mods and I was using stock gearing. the price of some of those mods isn't worth the $.

I can honestly say from first hand experience, you can't always feel a out of balance tire on a motorcycle. I seen a guy going down the highway with his front tire bouncing off the ground. I happen to exit at the same exit so I said something to him, he had no idea it was doing it. I would never ride it without balancing the tires. just because you can't feel it doesn't mean the suspension isn't feeling it. I have had a few bridgestones not need balancing weights though. some of the best tires I've ever had.
-
I've seen a few R6's blow out the side 1/2 moon section of the valve cover and every time the guy found that he accidently unhooked the crankcase breather hose from the airbox. the intake vacuum from the engine is necessary for proper crankcase ventilation to keep the engine from blowing out seals. just like the pcv system on your car/truck. it's very important to keep this system intact.

well it's $13 a liter for one. I know I know, I only need to change the oil once or twice anyway. I'm probably going to go ahead and get it. But with the way things are at work (been knocked back to 32/week from 50/week, yeah it hurts big time) money is getting harder to come by. I'm partial to the sintetico since it's at least 1/2 synthetic and much less expensive. I've used it for 30k miles and the valves didn't need adjusting at 34k miles. the clutch still grabs good, the shifting is perfectly smooth etc. so I am in love with it. it sucks I can't find it anymore. I think the guy at pro stock said parts unlimited quit importing it or something like that. that's why it's harder to find. and the guy out in sharonville, (sporttour) actually wants $8.75 for the plain jane 4t oil. no thank you. I understand they have a lot to pay for etc to run a business, it's not their fault prices are what they are now, but people have a breaking point. I want the store to be around and do my best to keep buying from them but I just cant afford much anymore. so I have to shop around and do my own tire changes etc. and now STT raised the prices for a track day.. .....wink wink...

mmm looks like you ordered the wrong stuff catman. I might just get the racing oil instead though. but I really don't want 10w30. but damn $13 a quart, that's gonna leave a mark. I wish the prices were what they were. I used to get the sintetico for $5 a quart. I don't know, I guess if I cant find it cheaper on the net....

they sell it at hobby lobby, michael's etc..

Craftsman 3 ton Floor Jack, Jack Stands and Creeper Set?
serpentracer replied to mrmako777's topic in Tech and Tips
my friend had a craftsman floorjack and it would also leak down, and lower the car too fast with the slightest turn of the handle. most jacks at least have more control of lowering it. -
read purolator's site, it was certified by using the ISO 4548-12 test. here is a link to the test from ISO(not purolators test, just the standard test) http://webstore.ansi.org/RecordDetail.aspx?sku=ISO+4548-12%3a2000&source=google&adgroup=iso6&keyword=iso%204548-12&gclid=CKTsyuPvgpkCFQpgswodjU6amQ I wouldn't worry too much about that part anyway. standard filters are usually in the 90-97% range anyway from what I've been reading. I'm more concerned with is it draining empty when the engine is off. dry starts are the worst enemy of your engine.
-
I was talking about AIR filters. I buy purolator pure one filters. because a R6 can use a mazda miata oil filter. they are 99.9% efficient. http://www.purolatorautofilters.net/en-us/products/oil_filters/Pages/pureoneoilfilters.aspx

just the standard napa filter. white in color.

I'd like to try the repsol chain lube. my brother will probably be bringing his bike there to have them press the new master link on his chain. can he still do that?
-
that's great to hear. I've always went there for stuff. but this past summer it seemed like everyone quit or something. tell them to carry the repsol sintetico oil. that's the only oil I want to use. I've used it since the bike was new 36k miles later, no valve adjustments are necessary. I think I would like to stick with this oil. but no one else sells it. only they did. I was totally bummed out when they never seemed to get more. so I just quit bothering to even go back. I even bought myself a tire balancer and started changing my own tires because I thought they went out of business. until I drove down through miamitown and seen the sign on the building.
