  1. I seen a test done on foam air filters VS k&n and BMC. the test results were published. the test was SAE J726. it proved that a oiled foam filter trapped more dirt and flowed as much air as a wetted gauze filter such as K&N and BMC. and actually will flow much more air when it's dirty than a dirty wetted gauze filter can. also have a look around in the car world. K&N's air filter oil has been shown to cause problems with Mass Air Flow sensors if over oiled.
  2. I've been using Repsol sintetico 10w40 since my bike was new. it currently has 35k miles on it. track and street. It also didn't need a valve adjustment when I checked it last winter. with 33k miles on it. that just tells me it's working very well if the valvtrain isn't wearing all that much.
  3. you can't really go by looks. I was using a NAPA filter (just like the one in the picture)in my truck that has a side mounted filter. and I think it was letting the oil drain back out over night. within 6 days of using it, my motor spun 2 rod bearings. I've always changed the oil on a reg basis too. and used synthetic oil. oil pressure was always good. it had to be the filter that did it in. I exclusively use purolator pure one filters on my bike. and from now on in my trucks. here is one I cut open
  4. yeah we need to show this poor fellow around:D he doesn't know it yet but he moved to the right place. oh yeah, Bridgetown in da house:D
  5. how's pro stocks new store doing? last time I went to the old store he quit selling repsol oil. all he had was repsol boat oil:confused: I know it's under new ownership and since then I've noticed some downgrades going on...
  6. barnacle bill? I had my suit fixed by him. I'm not exactly thrilled with the quality of the workmanship. there is 2 spots he missed with the thread that's still a hole. never again....
  7. ok I get your point. but you don't get mine. it is an investment. I'm not saving money by renting period. how is that not investing in my future if I'm NOT saving myself money? short term, no it's not paying out for you. in the long term, yes it is. either way it's an investment of your future, I'm just doing it different. no, it isn't the same yield as an mutual fund or something. but I can sell it when it's payed off plus all the extra money I've saved is mine too. or I can live here till I die. and never pay rent again. and again, saving money. no matter how you look at it, it is an investement. you just have to stick it out long enough for your equity to be in your favor. plus, yeah it's something I can take pride in. so it's a personal thing as well. like you were saying. todd, your welcome to come to a BBQ anytime at my house. no hard feelings;)
  8. actually there is companies that already take the used oil and use it for other things. I don't know if they pay for it or not though. or if they get paid for hauling it away. http://www.griffinind.com/ my company did some work to the owners home. he lives in northern kentucky just across the river from cincinnati.
  9. truthfully fill out this calculator to the best of your knowledge and see how much money if any, you are wasting on renting.http://finance.move.com/Homefinance/Calculators/RentBuy.asp?poe=homestore mine came out to this, $192,000.00 Estimated Cost of Renting $94,515.79 Estimated Cost of Buying a savings of, $97,484.21 . . for a 100k home for a 30 year loan. there is some numbers for you. now tell me who is wasting money....if you are paying $800 for rent. or are you going to tell me, saving 97k I'll use it up in upkeep of the home? your crazy. hum, now what to do with my extra money? RETIREMENT SAVINGS! oh the good life. how's them empty pockets working out for you when you are not able to work anymore?
  10. I ment it is an investment for you, in the long run, a return of your own money. not exactly a profitable source of income or something along that line. but, in the long run you can turn a profit. when you sell it for more than you pay, that's a profit. you'll never be done paying rent.
  11. man, you are the only person I've ever heard say renting is not a waste of money and buying a home is.
  12. but all of that is returned to you. especially because of inflation etc.. the only thing you get returned to you renting is nothing. you don't own a damn thing. when I pay off my house, I own it. if I sell it that's 100% profit. I'll be getting all of my money plus some. as long as it's not a dump. houses don't depreciate like a car or something if you don't fuck it all up etc.. and make improvements. it all adds value. and updated kitchen could cost you $5k, but the appraiser says it added 12k in value, that's a 7k return on a 5k investment. how is that not smart? all experts agree, owning a home is NOT a waste of money renting IS.
  13. do you know how it works. nope you will have a thing called equity. pretend you bought a house for 75k. you made 10k in improvements. now you are down 85k. you sell it for 100k. you just made 15k
  14. it's not what I say it's how it works. if you bought something that didn't return money back to you, you made a bad choice in a house. about the only ones you cannot make money back on are a mobile/modular home.
  15. when will they stop?, when we quit buying it. and that will be NEVER. which is one reason I quit my job that was 25 miles one way. now I drive 5. I'm saving myself over $125 a month. and useless miles on my truck that depreciates the value.
  16. todd, you just don't understand the way things work. go do some research. you are putting money back into your own pocket. not someone else's. that's all I'm going to say about this subject.... oh, if you are going to quote posts, make sure you get it all and understand all of the arguments first. I can't help it if you just don't undestand the way things work. some people can make millions out of nothing. others just sit back and tell them it won't work. you seem to be that guy.
  17. you know what I'm trying to say damn it:drink: ok, you show me a real estate investor that is poor...does the name Donald Trump ring a bell? sure the average person isn't looking into that aspect but you get the idea. so why do you think throwing your money away on rent is better than buying a house? that's foolish my friend. if you are paying on your house, you are putting that money back into your pocket. not into someone else's. in the long run you have something to show for it. and if you sell it for profit guess what? you just got everything you put into it back plus extra. that's smart. that's making your money work for you.
  18. it's like the stock market. some days your stock isn't worth squat other days it's worth more than you paid. my question is why is so many homes up for sale? it's not like people are losing jobs left and right and unemployment is high. buying right now would be smart. selling is not.
  19. damn dude that does look kick ass! I never would have never thought they could get up and go that good.
  20. either way the system allows these people to NOT have to work. and we are buying all their food.
  21. loose battery connection? btw, battery manufactures caution against using battery tenders for extended periods of time and keeping a battery inside makes it lose it's charge FASTER. http://www.yuasabatteries.com/faqs.asp?action=1&id=8 so basically, charge it once per month and keep it in the cold. and the top 3 things to kill a battery, 1. heat 2. over charging 3. not using it
  22. what I really need is a 4 wheeler or dirtbike. something to ride in the mud and snow:badgerrock:
