I stand by IWISHIWASCOOL ... The mostfrustrating thing with many people is that they either are for or against 'it'. That many people are not willing to break a topic down into sub-fragments and start looking at things from more than just one or two angles. For example, the most complex part of my Econ Major is having to account for as much data as possible, which honestly is near impossible, but the deeper we dive into data and statistics, the more clear the picture becomes and its never simple like camera one or camera two. So when it comes to social issues, well forget that! Econ is easy because you can attach numbers and numerical values (not categorical) to your topics and use history to prove a point. With social issues, that comes down to the majority of the population. I do however think that social issues are extremely hard to honestly be correct about without throwing to the wind other facts/opinions. Good luck guys on the flame war, Ill sit back with my popcorn and watch ...

Motorcycle safety when around you guys
chrismindless replied to chrismindless's topic in Passing Lane
I define 'stupid' from the lips of my riding instructors "If its something your grandpa wouldnt do, its probably stupid." Im not perfect in that department either but no matter what is happening, I think its a good idea to be aware that it is happening. -
Motorcycle safety when around you guys
chrismindless replied to chrismindless's topic in Passing Lane
I agree 100%. If I do something stupid and I get hurt or killed for it, well thats my own fault. Im referring more towards when Im just cruising in the group and someone in the group isnt aware of me OR isnt aware of the need to look harder because the truth is bikes are hard to see. I just wanted to make a point so that if someone thinks that they see everything just to take a second look for everyone's safety. -
Riding season is coming up ... Getting the bike ready and I just wanted to take a minute to kinda put something out there for you all to think about. To many of your credit, most of everyone here has been real cool and kept an eye of for us on the bikes. I have to say thank you for that, but then sometimes mistakes are made. I remember last year bringing the bike out and racing with a group of you guys (all cars) ... all I can say is that I know Im hard to see as it is, especially at night, but I think when bikes come out to play, please just be a bit more careful of your lane changes. As a rider, Im constantly watching the cars around me, but sometimes someone will accelerate hard and make instant lane changes with no signal. Im not bitching about that stuff but I am just asking that you KNOW the lane is empty before you show off. I had one panic stop occur and one person merged right on me. Bikes can stop quickly but at high speeds I dont know how well 'I' can stop. I can tell you about the STI, but I cant say much about the bike as I havent been in that situation yet. So please, remember to keep an eye out for everyone around you and if there is a bike or two or three etc know where those guys are. Shit can get ugly fast. There are a couple new riders this year, some that crossed over from cars to bikes. There will be experienced riders and inexperienced riders. I personally recommend that nobody races their bike without experience and taking a few classes, but I know its gonna happen and I just dont want to see any RIP threads this year. But to everyone, cant wait to see you all out this year, just waiting on the weather to warm up a bit more! Cheers.

the only downside is i would have to walk/drive from my house to gateway, a bit over 7 min walk ... not something I want to do at 3 am but better to be safe than another bike stolen.

Nurk, that is exactly the design i drew up. I kind of did away with the 2x4 extensions for the ends so you can put your feet down .. at least i decided it would be best for me to build without, see how it is and then add more enforcement as needed. how heavy would you say that bike was that you loaded with? just like in your design im using the same principal for the fold.
-
look at what those shots did the METAL on your car ... imagine if that was flesh ... holy fuck!
-
nurkvinny, my design is very simple but i think it will hold up to the weight of me (180lbs) and my R6. same amount of wood, (1) 3/4"x4'x8', (3) 2x4x8' (2) hinges the ramp will be 32" wide, so 3 sections from the plywood making a 12 foot ramp. then the 2x4 will follow the middle of the board, 10" apart, 5" from center of the ramp. I think that should be strong enough.
