have you looked into pressure transducer style indicators? Homebuilt and ultralight guys use them in favor of a pitot static system.

UH-60A/L crew member. It all depends on what type of aircraft it came off of. For your application you should be able to cap it off. Use rigid tubing. Dirt/debris/water getting in the pitot tube will degrade performance considerably. In the 60's the airspeed indicator is tied into the HUD, afcs, stabilator control, and a few more. I have wanted to do this as well but ours are measured in knots not actual ground speed.

AR for sure Ryan. They are shot regularly out to 300m and occasionally 500m with irons. The M1 scout is north of your price range, but you may be able to build an AR10 for that price.

$450 doesn't sound bad for a good initial tune. My only gripe with my "vision" of tuners is the additional charge for more fine tuning down the road. Yes, there is an appropriate safety margin depending on the level of build, but I fear the bigger safety is the one for their wallet when a customer gets bored with whatever power level and wants more. $400-500 range sounds good though. You'd be lucky to get a basic reflash on an evo/wrx for that price.

Hobbyking.com. The hk450 is compatible with trex parts. They come pre assembled minus electronics for $30. Make sure you select parts that are at the US warehouse and you can get them quickly. The overseas warehouses are known to take a while and high shipping cost. I'll post some links when I get home to a computer.

+1 for eflight. The only problem I ever had was my swash plate seperating mid flight about 100ft up. This was on my full size SR. My blade 400 has hundreds of flights with maybe a few belt replacements and some main blades here and there. I have a 450 and 2 trex 250 clones as well. My only nitro is a hirobo sceudo evo 50. If you are looking for a 3D bird you get what you pay for. If you just want to play then I see no reason the clones aren't as good with a little time and work setting it up correctly.
