  1. Yes i did hear it run. I just didnt shift thru any gears. It had a dead battery (sat for a while) but he was able to jump it off his truck and everything was good. Had a slight tick but i got the valves shimmed (15 out of 16 needed it) so that should solve that. I just hope it doesnt have any tranny issues.
  2. finally got ahold of someone at a dealer that had a discontinued part that i really needed, in stock. They shipped it and i should have it this week. Then i can get a fair amount done. Then i gotta finish cleaning the wiring harness and i can that put on along with the carbs. Getting pretty pumped.
  3. well i only leave these up for a few days anyways b/c i use my dropbox account and i need the space. These will be removed from my account.

Just click the link below and it will take you to the folder on my dropbox account that im sharing. Just click download in the upper right i think it is, and there ya go! I typically share these on my FB page only but i figured this is a very new CD so i figured people would like to get it for free. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/2mek84ps9kt0y7h/AADr9ignR8ZTDbUHBPTBHCnka
  6. here are the mounts and brackets mentioned above. This should be the last set of things to be coated on this bike. I should have more pics coming soon of some good progress since i got these done. I can now put on the exhaust, oil cooler and lines, and the radiator and cooling system parts and get the engine filled with fluids!!
  7. Thanks a lot! Its been a loooooong ride! lol. So many projects that kept me away from it but buying the house, insulating the garage, and building the bike bench were what i needed to get her goin again!!
  8. Thanks guys... I completely forgot to get the exhaust mount brackets (8 of them that hold the exhaust at the cylinder head) ceramic coated along with the bracket that holds the exhaust together under the center of the bike so i dropped those off at the powdercoaters over the weekend. So pissed i forgot those b/c thats all i need to put the exhaust, radiator, oil cooler, radiator/oil cooler grill, and a few other things on. Then i can get some oil in this beast. Hasnt had oil in in it for a while.
  9. So the next part to clean is the wiring harness. Sounds like fun.... here is a pic of some progress.. ignition coils, fuel pump, and some tubes put on...
  10. Thanks! I definitely will. Besides FaceBook, this forum and the ZX10R.net forum are the only 2 i keep this updated on.
  11. 5/6/14 Update Spent the past weekend and this evening cleaning and straightening THOUSANDS, literally, of radiator and oil cooler fins. I gotta say, the radiator looks awesome all cleaned, painted and assembled with a Muzzy 6 fin fan blade instead of the 4 fin plastic OEM one. I also blasted and painted the radiator guard.
  12. haha thanks. i couldnt go back and edit my old posts on this forum as i can on others so i just put all those pics again from the day i brought the bike home.
  13. and my latest post on this forum before i started the memory lane pictures, lol. as of 4/28/14 I apologize that all the pics are missing but I switched FB pages a while ago (accidentally deleted mine and had to start over) so all the links for the pics have changed. sometime ill get them fixed. With over 22,000 views on this page I really need to get all the pics back up! I have actually had people call the bike shop i work at (in my signature) and ask me about the bike! Its awesome! here are the latest updates. We bought a house a few years back and I spent some time insulating the garage and building my bike bench. I finally got it all done and spent some time on the bike. I got the motor all cleaned up and put in the bike! lovin the all black look. Looks more like a newer ZX10 compared to an 89. Ill be working on it now that its assembly time! lol. bought a table jack to work on the motor and clean it up. This is the new garage before insulation. for an 89 shes pretty clean! got the exhaust ceramic coated. They are dusty in the pics. insulated garage and bike bench built. Motor is all clean and ready to go in! Only took me and my gf to get the motor in. I actually took the bike off the bench and put the motor on the table jack. I then put the bike on my pit bull rear stand the front I put on my car jack with a 4x6 under the wheel. I lifted the front of the bike and used the car jack and table jack to get the motor into place! Was actually pretty damn easy and didn't scratch a thing!! I LOVE the way it looks now compared to before!!
  14. UPDATE AS OF 6/6/12 we bought a house with a nice big garage so we will be moving shortly (just down the street) and i finalLy got her out of the basement to see the light!!
  15. more parts ready for powdercoating UPDATE AS OF 8/4/11 new cooling fan! replaces the 4 fin plastic OEM... few random pics of some assembly... got a new camera with a nice lens, i can get real close to something and still get a LOT in the pic!! all the shit in the bags in the background is her parents...
  16. few more little things... had to wait a week for a lot of bolts and other misc things to come in just to do this much. during that week, i got out all the plastic i have for this and cleaned it all up and removed lights and anything else. I need to do some searching for some light housings for a few things. i have found most of em. ignition mounted. Front stabalizer mounted. The stuff on the tire is paint from the floor stuck to the sticky stuff from the label that was on the tire. Torque link mounted up. My new chain and sprocket set is in! OEM was 532, this is a 530 kit. Sprocket is MASSIVE and heavy. So is the chain. Brand New 1989 Ninja Owners Manual! ready to start a brand new maintenance record! luckily blanks are still available. rear brake mounted, ran the new stainless line, and bled. I love speedbleeders. Any bike i buy will be switched to speedbleeders. It was nice to see the rear brake working since the caliper was comlpetely rebuilt. Just a good sign, saying that everything was rebuilt good and the other 2 should work properly once i finish up the lever and master cylinder and resi.
  17. did a lot of work tonight. received the part that i ordered that there are only a few left in the country. here is the piece old and broken on the right. new on the left. rear pegs and brackets assembled Rearsets and rear pegs mounted on right side. Left side rearset and rear pegs assembled and attached Front calipers assembled and installed!
  18. well i got my calipers, caliper slide brackets, and right rearset back from the powdercoaters. links below the pics are for bigger pics. calipers are finally rebuilt!!!!! all new slide boots on the calipers too!! its nice when its all fresh and new!! and i put speedbleeders on the calipers! WOW. i was able to find a part that they only made for the 88-90 ZX-10 BRAND NEW. a shop in baltimore had one. They have had it in inventory for over 10 years. Its a cover over the ignition and upper triple. Still in the original brown paper wrapping. cant wait to get it!!!!!!! this will be the only BRAND NEW OEM piece on the Ninja, lol. besides bolts and other things that they are still using on newer bikes. im stoked!! the piece i have is in 3 pieces frmo the previous owners wreck. lol. ill post pics when i get it! Got the right rearset assembled with the rear master cylinder and pedal. cant torque the bolts down until i get the rear torque link put on, im just awiting on a couple o-rings from kawi for that. so its just finger tight right now. Polished the original peg. Keeping the rubber on it b/c theres still a lot there.
  19. i am rebuilding every part of this bike. with the exception of the motor. I had the valves shimmed and the clutch rebuilt and new plugs, that should be all it needs. its fun!! next parts i need to order is a chain and sprocket kit. luckily they make a kit to take it from the 532 size that is is from the factory, and make it a 530 b/c its hard to find 532 chain and sprockets. and working at a bike shop helps too, lol. Got the calipers, right rearset, brake lever, and some caliper parts sandblasted today. Also ordered new boots for the calipers. luckily i can still get them, which means they are prolly used on bikes throughout the 90's. a little bit more cleanup on the calipers b/c i had to tape off the cylinders and slide shaft areas, then clean up and blast the left rearset and off to the powdercoaters!! someone will prolly have to finish it and put it in my grave, LOL. purchased a Hone set off amazon. 3 sizes ranging from 1/2" to 7 o 8" for the same price as the small one at advanced auto. polished up the horns and got the horn brackets ready for powdercoating. my dremel hasnt been used in years, its getting a hell of a workout now. got my speigler stainless clutch lines, new brake pads and cluch and brake master cylinder rebuild kits. then got out the OLD, i do mean old, craftsman drill and started grindin off the rust on the exhaust system. well, one half of the exhaust system. This will be getting coated black. mirror black on the parts you can see when its on the bike, and flat black on the rest of it. my dad bought this drill brand new a LONG time ago. now its mine and still kickin. after a few straight hours of runnin it started to cut out so i stopped. just needed to get the rust and corrosion off, not trying to polish it to a shine.
  20. FINALLY ive been able to get something else done with this thing. Its really been pissin me off that i havent had time to do anything on this. I ordered Stainless brake lines from Speigler. Black lines, Black Banjos, and Black Ends. They will look tight on the bike!! Got the calipers torn down. I have new caliper piston seals. Popped the pistons out this morning at work. Luckily the pistons are in excellent shape b/c those are expensive. like 50 bucks a piece. Watch your fingers if you ever do this, lol. Now i need to send out the rearsets and calipers and get them powdercoated to match the rest of the bike! Here are the sweet ass stainless lines! here is where the bike is currently at...
  21. here is the latest pic... yah i know, 5 year project. but something always gets in the way or i buy another project. this time i bought 2. Got 2 new projects. i bought a 98 CR80 expert to be supermoto'd and i powdercoated the frame, swingarm, triples, linkage, and subframe. and got 12" rims and a supermoto front fender. Then i bought an 88 CR250. this just needs 2 fenders, rear brake line, throttle cable, kill switch, thats it. just getting this running and i will use it as a field burner. nothing special to be done to this thing. and i sold my 06 50th Anniversary R6. so that monthly payment is friggin GONE finally!! and i also got new clutch plates and springs and 15 of the 16 valves needed shimmed. so the motor is good to go!!! update... nothing else has happened, lol. just blew up my 98 CR80 supermoto. fixin that. finishing up my CR250 to sell. selling both 2 strokes to buy a new CRF150R. R6 is sold.when i get the 150R ill get back on the ninja. im about ready to order speigler stainless brakes front and rear for it tho!!!
