twitch, mount your timer on the riders left. beacons are usually set on the pit wall. you can bring your beacon, but there is usually one there already. just make sure you dont put one 20 feet from another or else there will be some super quick lap times!! see you there......

i would not hessitate to state that 99% of posters on this board, or any board, would never outride the factory suspension components, but EVERYONE should have their suspension set up properly for the sake of safety.

evening went very well! it was run like an open track. to start each int and adv went out for 20 mins each to get acclimated with the track. then, it was open to all riders. they would bring eveyone in at the top of every hour to fetch any down riders and clear the track. then it was on again. it was very successful and a lot of fun!

its from Harbor Freight. i paid around $260 after buying the chock and treated plywood. it comes as a kit, must be assembled. its works great. i've seen people haul two bikes on it, but i cant imagine it being very steady and you would need to add outriggers in front for tiedowns, its not wide enough without. i did the one last year. it was very informal and ended up being an open track for 45 mins and closed for 15 mins for rest. it was extremely fun, but they'll probably run it like a regular led this time; 30 mins per session, int and adv. just take your time and practice balancing the bike and maneuvering the stand into place. just dont let your bike fall over!!

they're great bikes!! my opinion may be biased, though! really though, the engine has a very even power curve and pulls like a freight train from relatively low rpm. the chassis on the R is solid, like a gsxr. the suspension is always good for a little controversy, though. the forks are quite good and can be greatly improved with little cost/effort. but, the rear suspension is a rotary type and is located just below the rear cylinder exhaust spiggot and heats up a bit under hard riding causing fade issues (track/racing). an aftermarket coil over shock can be purchased from ohlins, penske or bitubo for a price. even with the suspension woes, you'll be hard pressed to outride what its got. its definately heavier than a modern SS. its rock solid as far as stability and you cant beat the exhaust note with aftermarket cans. i love mine, its my second and its not quite stock. keep in mind that for top end speed a good running new 600 will give you a run for your money and forget about any new 1000. all that said, get it if YOU like it. its a very capable bike and is nothing to sneeze at, track or otherwise. the aftermarket is still pretty strong but is slowly starting to thin down. hope my biased opinion helps!

you also have to buy your tires there. i took a set i bought from the internet and they wouldnt mount them. i go to motorsports of columbus, now. its $25 per tire.........or $30......... :?
