Well, sort of. Look at it in really simple terms: A person earns money, and they pay income tax. If that person has an employee, he pays the employee with that money, and that employee pays income tax. We don't necessarily tax money, exactly, we tax income when it is earned, by employment, interest, inheritance, gifted, etc. We don't really tax money, otherwise all taxes would be multiple taxes (I mean, my income was already taxed, why should it be taxed when I buy something, etc, etc). That said, I'm opposed to inheritance taxes, I don't think that people save their entire lives to have a large portion of their money go to the state.

It's not that the state has no right to impose immigration laws. It's that the Arizona law, in some cases, attempts to supersede federal immigration law. For instance, under federal law, legal aliens must carry identification at all times. The penalty for not carrying your license is a fine. It's a minor misdemeanor, less serious than not wearing a helmet as a novice. However, in Arizona, if that legal alien has forgotten his wallet at home, and happens to be carrying a legal prescription of valium, or a firearm (Arizona allows non-citizens to obtain conceal permits, if they are residents), that minor infraction becomes a felony. It should be noted that the hastily written law makes no exception for legal permits or prescriptions. So in this case, a legal alien becomes a felon because he changed his pants and forgot to transfer his wallet, effectively superseding federal law. The Arizona law also requires law enforcement in Arizona to enforce federal law, something which individual states do not have the jurisdiction to do.

Honestly, compulsory services bills aren't noteworthy. A compulsory service bill that gets a hearing before a committee (never mind a vote in that committee), would be surprising. One that was brought to the House floor would be shocking, and passing through the House is pretty much unthinkable. And passing through the Senate would be about impossible. And then overriding the absolute certain veto simply wouldn't happen. Ain't no thing.

Sweet, if we remove the electoral college, our Presidents will be elected by New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Boston, San Francisco, Philadelphia, etc. No real need for farmers to vote anymore.

Of course it does. Bandwidth is finite, the more people who use it, the slower it is. This is true of cable, DSL, 802.xx, frame relay, you name it. The only thing about cable that is "shared" is the physical media upon which the signal travels. But this isn't the same as sharing bandwidth - just like DSL (or any other technology), bandwidth is limited by the equipment at each end of the connection (be it a cable modem, DSL modem, CSU/DSU, or whatever). With DSL, you also have that shared physical media - it's just in a different physical location (behind the dslam or in the central office). The reason you don't notice any slow downs with DSL is a simple one - bandwidth is capped at a fairly low limit. If DSL providers left DSL wide open (around 11mb for people close to a dslam or CO), you'd notice the exact same peak time decrease.

Heh. This incident occurred at Tailgators in Hamilton. Apparently, he was in someone's seat, the guy came back, got pissed, and he and his buddies dragged him outside and beat him within an inch of his life. I'm just saying, everyone thinks they're a "real biker." I'm quite sure that there's a web board out there somewhere dominated by guys who ride cruisers and think that sport bikes are a joke. Personally, I don't get it either way. I don't think the style of bike you prefer has anything to do with your ability or experience.

I don't think I'm being harassed at all, no worries there. Like I said, I'm just surprised. I only make the "walk into a bar and say that" joke because my favorite bars nearby have all been taken over by bikers who will kick the shit out of you for sitting in the wrong seat. And I only say that because a friend of the family had the shit kicked out of him for sitting in the wrong seat.

I knew that was coming the second I hit submit. Now I'm reminded why I initially commented in this thread. I'm really surprised by the animosity toward cruisers on this board. It's bizarre. Though one thing seems to be true, go to any given bar, you're likely to see cruisers. Would be interesting to walk inside and tell them they don't know how to ride, though.

DSL is shared just as much as cable is, I'm not sure why DSL providers try to make people think otherwise. The only real difference is where the sharing occurs. With DSL it's often at a central office or a remote dslam, but in general, you're still sharing bandwidth in the same way.

Is it just cruiser riders who are to be judged? Seriously, I'm not judging anyone. From what I've gathered, this board has tons of experienced sport bike riders. I just think it's weird that everyone around me rides a cruiser (like that when I grew up in NH, too), but you'd guess from this board that cruisers are just drunk newbies. That mentality is a little odd to me.

What I said was "I was being sarcastic. Maybe it's south west Ohio, but every experienced biker I know rides a cruiser." I know one guy who rides a sport bike, and he's got like 250 miles under his belt, which includes the MSF course.
