  1. Here's a quick screen shot of the 2nd day afternoon ride. Operator error with the GPS. Top most section actually was connected to make a loop & after that i turned it off since we just retraced our steps back to base. For reference the redline on the right of the screen is 285 & we took country road 305 west to access the camp site. https://goo.gl/maps/CjDZ7
  2. SO we've only been Longmont CO for a month before my brother arrived to sample some of that Rocky Mountain High. He touched down in DIA early last Wednesday. From there we picked up his rental bike & we started on the 100mi jaunt from Lafayette to Buena Vista where the Four Mile OHV area is (http://staythetrail.org/maps/viewtrail.php?trail_id=39). He would ride while I drove the packed out sequoia that contained my bike as well as a shit ton of camping equipment. Since we were planning on spending 3 days 4 nights days at a primitive camping site, at 10,000ft with temps between the 30's and 80's we brought everything and the kitchen sink. Unfortunately on our 2nd day Drew dropped the bike on a sharp rock & cracked the Oil Filter Cover on the crank case. He was ok but despite a trailside quiksteel repair oil kept seeping out & we had to cut the trip short. But the trip ended on a positive note as the renter had a spare part readily available. After we broke down camp, drove back & replaced the cap we were able to sample some local trails before turning the bike in on the last day. Anyways here are some photos from BV. Neither of us had a gopro so here are a few scenic shots. Turning off the main road & heading towards the campsite. Still climbing up Views from camp looking westward over BV He wanted a few glamor shots for his Christian Mingle profile. I wanted one for my herpes dating site, h-date.com Gotta get one for mom Thankfully we were only 2 miles from camp & it was 80% downhill.
  3. I did too. If you watch the entire video I had to split the ride into two parts. First coming southbound from the north to the 1/2 way point the it cuts to me starting at the most southern point heading northbound to Scott the 1/2 point. Most people pulled over our slowed to Kerrry me pass...not the minivan.
  4. I was very comfortable with my raging hard on, especially through the singl track.
  5. Late in August the wife & I packed up our Sequoia (including the DR a trailer hitch mounted carrier) & left Columbus to being our new adventurous life in Colorado. From the the get go I made sure to avoid the dreaded i-70 drive (aka death by boredom), so we went North West. I routed us through Sioux city, the Badlands & into Black Hills forest SD. Here is where the gem laid. By nothing but sheer luck we arrived a few days after the Sturgis rally let out & pretty much had the campground to our self. Furthermore our temporary place of residence was smack dab in the middle of the 17mi stretch of 314 turns that made up 16a, Iron Mountain Road. I had the bike off the carrier & warmed up before my wife could remove the tent poles out of the bag. There were a couple snafu's; I only had a helmet & gloves for protection, the knobby wheel set was on, my rear brake was operating at about 50% & I had no way of changing out the main jet for the altitude of 5-6000 ft. Despite this & my urge to go about twice as fast as i should, the ride was absolutely spectacular. I attempted to make a video by mounting my cell phone to the spedo gauge using suction cup window mount we had in the Sequoia. The whole video is 30 minutes but I'd encourage you to watch the first 10 minutes...thats where the real fun is.
  6. So sometime between my first and 8th beer at dinner Sunday night I decided I didnt really want to sell my bike. So instead of taking the original CL posting down I did a little editing. About 20 hrs later it was taken down for me...problem solved. Here is that final draft. I'd like to imagine Hunter S Thompson would have gotten along like 2 peas in a pod.

  9. So talking with my brother I'd say ireland is out as we've been there already. Germany, Italy & where ever inbetween spiked our interest.
  10. Traveling around the US was a thought, but thats something I or we can tackle on another time line. With this much time off in sync, w/o kid or other responsibilities, we're viewing this as a once in a life time opportunity to travel...so we're going big!
  11. Thanks for the feed back. Wow sounds like you've done some great trips! We just schemed this idea up 2 days ago, so no we haven't landed on anywhere. We did discuss the idea of S.America, Europe or the East. Neither of us are proficient in a 2nd language so English speaking would be preferred. Maybe we could use an outfitter....rent bikes & gear and then head out on our own. If such companies exist I'd be OK with that.
  12. It turns out that this summer my brother & I might have an opportunity to have 3-4 weeks off at the same time. Among other things we're kicking around a guided intl. adventure tour. Has anyone done anything like this before?

    Grips

For the tarded DR650, pulled off nice but old progrips that were pretty thick. Any suggestions for a similar thick MX grip?

  16. I really dont think this is that bad of a situation... take this into consideration. 1) No funeral costs 2) How many people will get to go out in a unique incident like this? 3) Family will always will have a conversation starter "you know how my so and so died? buried alive". 4) If someone get swallowed up by the earth in their sleep they were probably going to be the next Hitler. 5) One less "Florida man"* * see https://twitter.com/_FloridaMan
  17. I loled. And then I thought of the rusty trombone
  18. If youre really bothered by it talk to your doc. Prostate issues must suck
  19. Condom catheters have been around in the medical field for a while. While I've never used one I hear they don't work well...mainly because its messy. Its hard to get (what every horney walrus is looking for) a tight seal around your dick. And the condom doesent just stay on... there is a gooey adhesive of some sort. Theyre primairly used on kids who can't pee on command and we need a urine sample. Out side of the kids I knew of a nurses husband who would use them at OSU games. Pregame and drink all day with out having to wait in those long horseshoe bathroom lines. I dunno, maybe he used pipe dope to get a better seal. Just get the real deal...18fr foley catheter and a leg bag. That is unless you have something against shoving a rubber hose up your urethra into you bladder.
  20. The question was raised...does it say "anal explorer" or "anal explored" :-X
  21. Thanks for all the input boys, keep it coming. I'm vaca and without a computer for a few days but ill write up my thought process thus far.
  22. Ill see your Creamed Tenere and raise you the KTM ANAL EXPLORER
  23. Other than the summer I prepped bikes to be taken home at Ask I havrnt ridden a shaft driven bike...I wonder how that would feel in the dirt?
  24. Take a look at that thread link I posted from advrider. There are a cornucopia of poignant opinions from seasoned riders. It boils down to what you want and the type of riding youll be doing. I'm betting that ill find the wee inadequate for what I'm going to do. By no means does that make it a bad bike, only just an impropper fit. Terms like "best all around" are easily lost in translation.
  25. Also cycleword did a great compairson and write up of the KTM, super tenere and BMW 1300gs
