    Vote for my dog

Sorry i don't vote for dogs with gang affiliation.
  3. Ive seen a few over the past week or so. It seems that most people who have these bikes maintain them to a higher standard compared to the avg. motorcycle owner. And it makes sense that they would as its in their best interest to not break down in BFE. Cheap, decked out, pristinly maintained, turn key adventure warriors just waiting to stretch their legs!....but were getting married in July and leaving for Australia for at least 6mo from Hawaii so i cant justify picking one up. It's a terrible problem to have, i know.
  4. In the US? I know a lot of S.American countries/cities use the DR650s as police bikes. Not to mention just about all of OZ. Spare parts l around like CDI's, stators, wheels, starters. The sort of shit that cant be welded and will significantly bog a ride down if not readily available. Availability in the US is one thing but what im looking for is overall sales in a country.
  5. Depending on where you're going DR650's parts seem to be universal and plentiful. I'm not saying the wee storm isnt superior in other aspects but when it comes to available replacement parts the DR is hard to beat. On another note ive recanted on the DL1000. Too heavy for what i could possibly encounter. The wee storm sounds like a well rounded bike but i'm going to see how far i can take the DR. When i bought it, it came with an additional 5gal tank so ill pop that on there and start riding.

    ADV rider

Just joined ADV rider with my new found interest in adventure riding...There are some really crazy stories including the thread im reading now about x2 24 year olds that head out from washington into S.America. Anyone have other adventure threads? http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=673764&page=19 this is a girls from CO who the riders in the above thread meet up with and then go their separate ways http://ohioriders.net/showthread.php?t=31556
  8. Just the tip, just for a second to see how it feels. Aaaaaaaaaand im betting that feels like shit
  9. Thanks. Just found a bunch on ADVrider ...you wernt kidding about cheap.
  10. call it a security blanket. my 270lb body plus gear and supplies, Id like to have a litre under my ass.
  11. So ive been lurking craigslist, cycle trader, etc etc and have NOT been able to find much out there for used super tenere or the v storm 1000. The 650 looks great, but id like a bigger bike for a long ride
  12. looks slow whats done to it so far?
  13. To clarify when I said light dirt capable I didn't mean "light, dirt capable" I meant "light dirt capable" as in fire roads, gravel roads. I want a bike I can ride to where ever and take a detour down a dirt road, jeep trail, what ever.
  14. So after reading through and JOing a couple times to the Alaskan thread i started thinking about my next bike purchase( in a few years, but it helps to have an end goal when saving)! It would be a set up for something like an alaskan ride. I love my DR, but couldnt see doing that kind of mileage on it(which is fine...never indented it to stand up to a task like that). SO then, does the r1200gsa(2008+) pretty much take the cake for a light dirt capable touring/adv bike? What other bikes should be in this category? Pro's, Con's, part availability, cost to maintain a bike "of the people" and over all experience?
  15. hahaha shit, like MR.T reincarnated at an R1

  17. what exactly was your intention when you bought this alarm? cut your losses, ditch it and get a plug and play...I'm all for doing things on a budget but that traditionally takes know how and time on your part...and sometimes a case of beer to sucker friends into helping you out. or get a thick cable/lock combo and hope no one wants your bike that badly.
  18. And MJ USA off of cleveland ave said they would look at it too..
  19. The contact for the site above quoted me at $100 once I get it down to him.
  20. The guy i got my fcr carb from was parting out his DR650 for a husky 510smr(his SN on SMJ.com is DR650). Its not all its cut out to be...Full synthetic every 500 miles, 3 fuel pumps since summer(when the 1.9gal tank gets low, the fuel pump in the tank is exposed and burns out), valve check's often and the fuel injection is shit on the 2010's.You're getting track performance for the price of track maintenance. How big are you? What is fun and what are you looking for? You might want to look into a DR650. i got mine dirt cheap and have spent a couple hunderd in mods. I bought the DR for a daily commuter with the occasional light/medium off roading. I didn't buy a street legal dirt bike for speed, so im about low and mid torque. If you are dead set on staying with the DRZ look into FCR carb. Ive got a power now, a power now plus with an adjustable leak jet on mine with an FMF shorty exhaust and x2 air boxes(one competly cut out with a light tac on the filter strictly for street and a box with a few holes drilled in the top and much stickier tac on that filter for off roading). I also took that mesh screen out between the airbox and the carb. boot. The FCR( not built by me but by the DR650 guy on SMJ) bolted right up with the choke plunger on the carb itself so we didnt have to refit the OEM choke on the handlebars. Either way its enough torque to slide my 6'2 275lb ass off the seat until 3rd. http://www.procycle.us/bikepages/ This will give you an idea for whats out there....prices are high. the DR650 is bulletproof, but not as fast compared to what all is out there. But you are trading that for reliability. The oversized valves with 725 kit would be the way to go. Forget cams if you want low end.
  21. Nothing? There is a phantom rewirer running around columbus that everyone has heard of but no one knows how to contact.
