this is a great thread! cause when we go on bike trips one of my favorite things to do is find mom and pop places to eat. i like eating at local, authentic, been around forever joints that you wouldnt find any where else.

hey im not hatin on Ducatis. id love to own a monster, 848, 1098, or a hyper and im not brand loyal either.. i like all bike makes and models i just thought it was funny some of the comparisons i think its also funny i get alot of shit now from people cause i ride a harley lol stereotyping is fun!
-
i was thinking about this the other day.. i know there is a stereo type for the typical harley owner.. but most of it is the same with Ducati owners 1. most people buy it because of its name 2. when you buy one, you end up loading up on there branded gear and accessories 3. repair, and parts are super expensive 4. awesome bikes, but you could have gotten a jap bike that can outperform it 5. its considered fashion statement 6. most people who own them dont put many miles on them 7. people refer to the riders as Dbags 8. see them alot at star bucks 9. owners spend alot of time cleaning them 10. they spend more time in the shop then on the road add more if youd like.. im just making comparisons about things ive heard about both brands

my wife, myself, and another couple are heading out on friday morning. we have a cabin rented in the mountains of hayesville NC great riding roads around there, close to deals gap area, super close to the mountains of georgia. its gonna be an Epic trip we have a 2400sqft cabin rented, thats nicely loaded up, hot tub, wrap around deck , and no other cabins for about 8 acres 2 days down, get there saturday... then we leave thursday.. instead of coming home though, i think me and the wife are gonna head to tybee island in Georgia, and maybe hit up edisto beach as well. there will be tons of pics to follow. i have almost completed my pre trip inspection. replaced the rear tire changed the primary and tranny fluids checked over all bolts and nuts greased axels checked belt tension flushed front brake fluid and filled lubed all front brake slides, and hardware checked brake pads checked tire pressure checked all lights for functionality checked for fluid leaks (it didnt have any.. believe that, and its a harley lol) unfortunately found out my rotors were warped (solid mounted calipers, and solid rotors arent condusive to a sportbike rider mentallity of front brake only) so going to pick up some floating rotors and throw them on before the trip and i still gotta do an oil change should be set after that. well i guess i still gotta pack and get some tunes ready for the road trip. and a to go tool kit! and of course pack some liquor so i can get rowdy when we get to our cabin lol. i havent picked our route out yet, but i think day one is gonna be slabbin it for the most part, day 2 will be 80% backroads, i wanna ride smokie mountain parkway (drove through it last year, but wanna ride it on a the bike) dont know if we will go through the gap on the way down or just wait and do a full day around that area monday.

sorry brian.. it was an important call. I had an order i placed for a limited production chrome and gold "live to ride, ride to live" screamin eagle jacket conch (extra large of course) it was on back order and the sales person in the motor clothes department was trying to help me decide if i should wait it out or if i should just switch my order over to a leathar hat with flames on it. sorry i was driving slow, but like you noticed my clutch hand was occupied, not that i shift gears that much anyways.. usually i like to keep it in first and crack it wide open then just let it engine brake back down to idle.. and then repeat.. it wont happen again though, cause while i was on the phone with the sales person, she was telling me about this bad ass doo rag that keeps your cell phone held against your ear. best part is its BLACK with habenero pepper and nipple graphics all over it. anyways maybe i can make it up to you... ill let you come with me on our next ride.. we are going from my house to the harley dealer, they should let you in the doors as long as you walk it with a bad mutha fuckin harley owner like muhself. then maybe you can get you a real bike and a few $50 t shirts

well you dont have a fairing so your options are limited. but whatever you get youll want some power behind it in my street glide im running a 200 watt amp and just upgrade from the j&m 5.25" speakers to Polk MM 6501 6.5" components with crossovers it jams out.. although i wouldnt mind a little bit more amp behind it check these guys out http://www.cyclesounds.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=24 thats pretty much the path youll have to take unless you do a fairing

It's about the destination It's about the experience It's about the authenticitiy You can experience places in a car, but it's a different world on a bike The people you meet, the stories you have to remember, the bond with friends or family when doing a group trip Its it's own world I love long hauling to places I've never been

i rode it 2 years ago. its a great road with tons of good views. not many places to get off for gas.. but there is a spot about 40 miles into it that you can get off to get gas, its a little far off the drive but its not bad. you can also fuel up about 5 miles before you get on. you have to pay to get on skyline drive if you didnt already know. and if you go over the speed limit they will pull you over (i got pulled over for 60 in a 35, but got a warning)

you should have a secondary harness that has a power and ground to the battery. then that harness ties into your HID harness correct? is it a 35 watt or 55 watt kit? if its a 55 watt kit youll probably need a aux harness to power that 55 watt setup i had problems with mine did the same thing i eventually just said fuck it and just use low beam. honestly with a 55 watt hid there is no need for a high beam it puts out 10x more light than my halogen hi beam
