I have had the pleasure to ride an FZ 09 this past summer for a bit, and i will say.. dollar for dollar, that is an amazing bike. you cannot buy a new bike for the money thats better IMO.. atleast in that platform. that motor is a peach, and the chassis is damn good. the brakes are what you'd expect on a budget bike, and the suspension as well for that price point. but that engine, my god. just amazing. the owner of the bike had me do install a Penske shock and Traxxion Dynamics Cartridge kit, it transformed that bike. i don't think the brakes are terrible, but they are not on par with a super sport bike. i think they are SS brake lines away from being good, if it were me id do SS lines and a R^ master cylinder and i think there would be no complaint. if i owned the bike and was on a budget, a simple fork spring upgrade, and a different used OEM shock would be a low cost solution, and would be great. but still even if you spent the money that my customer did you would still be under 10k for a brand new machine with top of the line shock, forks, and an amazing suspension. anyways since when does anyone leave stuff stock? Yamaha offered a low entry cost bike that is an amazing performer and a great base to make a killer bike. if it had premium suspension and brakes it would cost 12k or more. Then everyone would bitch about the price.

id have to completely disagree, the reason people complain about the FZ09 fueling is because its throttle by wire, its touchy, and its a price point that the people who are buying them haven't had a chance to ride throttle by wire. and the suspension not being as good as a first gen SV.. thats laughable. the fz suspension isn't great, but a set of springs and its pretty good. at least it is inverted forks unlike the damper rod setup in the first ten and current SV. what japanese bike isn't reliable? I'm tired of this stupid honda reliability stigma. to me its what honda owners say to back up there boring purchase. "yeah its not the best thing out there but its a honda, and its reliable" oh resale is no better than any other japanese bike, and cruiser wise they are probably some of the worst resale value on the market. honda has the capability to make some amazing machines, they have the technology, they have the money to back it all up, but they don't do it. they go with the safe bet. There was an article in cycle world i read and one line stuck with me, and its very true. "industry observers often say that Honda builds models for customers it wishes it had."

I got mine from luckyscruff.com The brush and pine tar soap was $17 shipped. The brush got really good reviews, so I figured I'd give it a shot, think the brush was only like $10. If it sucks, I'll order a Zeus or one from beard baron.

just from what I've read, a boar hair bristle brush helps distribute your natural oils, helps remove dead skin cells, stimulates the follicles, its a firmer bristle so it helps remove dirts, dust from your beard, and also aids in training your beard to grow in a direction you want. aside from the benefits of it taming, untangling and polishing the hair. they say for beards under an inch of growth go with a soft bristle, for beards over an inch get a firm. i ordered a firm.

also ordered a boar hair bristle brush and pine tar soap from lucky scruff today. figured it was time to get a good brush since my beard is starting to get a decent growth now

you gotta pay to play, plain and simple. the prices of everything have gone up. and nearing 20k for a new premium bike is pretty much the standard now. i will say there isn't a japanese contender for the Harley touring models. Victory and Indian are the the only competition, and they are the same price range. Personally i think Harley uses better materials, they have better fit and finish, the paint is better, i could go on. performance wise, they still lack in the suspension dept, but they have gotten alot better. i used to think the money they charge for the touring models was insane, but I'm understanding alot better after now owning 2. Ducati, BMW is no different, except they focus more on performance, using premium vendors in the components makes a huge impact on price, but its also a huge impact on the buyers. If you want Brembos, Ohlins, and the newest tech your gonna pay for it. i could have bought a similar Japanese bike to the Hypermotard i owned for about half the price, but thats not what i desired, i lusted after the Hypermotard SP, i didn't lust after the Japanese variant of it. as you can see now the Japanese are starting to get the hint, buyers want premium components, take the CBR1000RR SP, with premium components, the price reflects that. i agree there is a very low percentage of people that can ride even some of the slower lower end bikes to their potential, but people buy whatever they desire. Motorcycles are a passion, and a want... not a necessity. if it was a necessity, every manufacturer would have a lineup like honda, high MPG low CC commuter bikes that have no soul.

ill stick my nose in on this. i will say Ducatis NEED belt changes and valve adjustments at the recommend intervals. and on the flip side, i have seen Japanese bikes go 30k miles without needing a valve adjustment. so yeah there is a difference, if your not capable of doing your own maintenance, it does get expensive. but the extended intervals on ducatis now makes it alot more appealing for the general public more than it use to. i know that i never really thought of buying one until they intervals got at 10k plus miles. but lets be honest, its a premium brand and one or another your gonna pay a little more for that. they warranties are great on the new bikes, and the dealerships will take care of you. like i have said time and time again, the best buying and after purchase experience i have had have been with Ducati and Harley dealers. the rest of the industry should be taking notes
