These are the base model units that came with the condo my wife bought, they're about 6 years old. They each have their own issues, but are probably fixable for someone that cares to mess with them. Washer: Works fine, but on the spin cycle it makes a LOT of noise when the barrel starts to spin. I'm guessing there's a bearing in it that needs replaced or something. Comes with basic water hose extensions for the hook ups for the water feeds. http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z56/kutschca/For%20Sale/P8070347.jpg Dryer: Everything works, except that when you put a heavy load in it then it makes a ratcheting noise like you're going up the hill on an old wooden roller coaster. Not as loud as the washer, but still pretty annoying. Comes with a 3-prong 220 plug, as I had to keep my old 4 prong for my new one. http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z56/kutschca/For%20Sale/P8070346.jpg $40 for the pair.

The wheel is 350mm with zero offset/dish to it. Will fit any hub that takes Momo, Sparco, or OMP wheels. Will NOT fit Nardi/Personal hubs. Wheel has 2 flaws, the shown wear marks where the outside of the mounting ring touches the wheel, and someone etched in "No WR" on the back...no idea what that means. Neither of these would be seen when the wheel is mounted. Hell, I had this wheel on my FD for 5 years and never new either of them existed. $150 Will come with wheel, horn, horn ring, mounting ring, and 6 screws to mount to a hub. No box, etc. Front with mounting ring: http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z56/kutschca/For%20Sale/P8070352.jpg Back: http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z56/kutschca/For%20Sale/P8070348.jpg http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z56/kutschca/For%20Sale/P8070350.jpg Marks on front from mounting ring, note that they're not visible when mounted. http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z56/kutschca/For%20Sale/P8070354.jpg

Looks awesome. Will see. Nice to see a big name director do a proper racing movie

I'd say the biggest issue after the e shaft is figuring out how to adequately cool it. The coolant flows from one end of the motor to the other and then makes the same pass again on the other side of the motor before going back to the radiator. The more rotors you add to that the hotter it gets during its path. I'm interested to see more on this motor and if they actually get some good power out of it.

so Tim, pardon my stupidity, but what difference/features would I be missing if I had a SX-40 as my only camera and not a crop body DSLR? Just lense interchangeability and the features I could have with those other lenses? Would I be limited by this camera if I wanted to get into taking nicer shots of my cars with a remote flash system? I think that you're right, that the video is good for most things I'd want it for, and if I want something to do more action-oriented stuff with, then I'll have to get a seperate device for that. My draw to the mirrorless idea was that what I really want is a DSLR that will fit in my pocket. Mirrorless doesn't offer that, and it seems that nobody ever will.
-
HAHA, I suppose that's true. I think it's mostly because we call came to terms with what it takes to own and keep a Rx7 before buying one. Recommending against casual ownership helps others realize that it's not an easy task to take on and prepares them for that. I'm not completely saying don't buy one, but make sure if you do, it's for the right reasons.

Since Tim is offering up great advice in this thread, I'll jump in with my own questions. Like others here, I've been very tempted by the mirrorless concept. The idea of being able to take good quality photos without the hassle of lugging around a full DSLR is very appealing. My concern is that apart from using the pancake lenses on these, they're not really able to be put in a pocket and easily carried around. If you want to use a nice lense on a mirrorless camera, then you need a case, and then at that point what's the difference between that and a crop body DSLR? Additionally, I'm interested to know if I can have a camera that will also do well with video. Now that my wife and I have our son, i notice the desire to take video and I'm just doing it with my camera phone. While that's nice to be easy to share, I know I'm going to kick myself down the road because the quality sucks on anything bigger than a phone screen. Supposedly the mirrorless cameras and specifically the Panasonics are better at video than most DSLRs, is that true? Should I just buy a seperate video camera and live with having 2 devices and costs? I know my limitations, I'm not going to be a great photographer, even if I had the talent, I don't have the time to dedicate to getting up to the level of some of the people here. I do, however, want to be able to take good shots, of good quality that I can be happy to show others and hang onto as memories. I have an older Olympus P&S that gets by, but also has definite limitations. I would like to take pictures and video of my family, and perhaps work on taking good pictures of my cars (remote flash setup anyone?) and watches. I believe I am the target "bridge camera" market, but what's the right choice for me? Is there something that's reasonably sized so I'll actually be willing to take it around, can take good photos, and do video as well? Am I dreaming up a product that doesn't exist yet?

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ubybjut2bXE/T1OhAfBWdVI/AAAAAAAADrI/sX_nY6XPc1o/s1600/smokey3.jpg You can think about it....but DOOONNNN'TT do it! Seriously though, Joe's advice is good. You're going to think about what you want the car to be for you. While Andy is right that it's been a great track car for me for a low price, it does take a lot of maintenance and fiddling to keep it running that way. I'm envious of his GT3 when he can just get out of it after a session and not think about it all day. Hell, I don't even think he checks his oil all track day. If you want a car that will be fun to hop in on the weekends and like tinkering on things here and there, then find one that's almost stock with just "reliability mods" and leave it. Enjoy the fact that it's fun and looks great and don't F with it! Don't go thinking you're going to have a 400hp single turbo car that won't take any work....not gonna happen. Avoid this car if you want a drag car as your GTO is a better starting point. As Andy mentioned, most owners bought these cars and tended to focus on mechanics of the car more than the asthetics and let the condition go to crap, which is a shame because how good the car looks. I guess lately I've been guilty of leaving mine pretty beat up from the track, but you'd be surprised as how many complete pieces of crap are out there that people list the exterior condition a 7/10. I'd MAYBE rate mine a 7/10 when completely polished up and it was better than every other single one I went to look at when buying mine. Take your time and find a nice example, it will pay off in the long run. As for a swap, if you dont really have any affiliation for the rotary, then you can buy a car without one. It's still got a great suspension and beautiful body. I'm not going to tell you it's no longer an Rx7 or crap like some people will. I still like mine being a rotary, but I can see the appeal of a LS swap. Just realize that it's not completely fail-safe as if you want to track it you still have the oiling issues of the LS to fix. There was actually a member here who had a LS-swapped FD that blew up his LS twice, so it's not always perfect. If you do buy a rotary car the one the best mod you could ever put on it will be a simple water injection system. I fully believe that's what's kept mine running after a full day of hard track sessions. That is the saving grace keeping the rotary alive.

I definitely lost bolts holding the midpipe to the catback the weekend of the 14th, then after I had replaced them, on our day on the 21st I lost the ones from the downpipe to the midpipe...hahaha. I normally just use locking washers and nuts instead of thread locker, and rely on the oil constantly soaking the bottom of the car to be my anti-sieze :gabe: -
my bad....Andy was the fastest thing there in his pretty Beetle! That gutted e90 M3 was pretty fast too, but I did remember him being passed by the GT3.
-
If it makes you feel better I used 30 gallons of gas to go 140-ish miles on the track...rotaries just need to bring their own gas cans! (or borrow some). I say leave it. The only car that was faster than you there (and barely at that) was the full race-prepped and stripped Boss 302 mustang...I wouldn't sweat it.

We know that's likely not happening but my best shot will likely be the 2nd session in the morning. I'll be getting slower from then on. I'm just excited to go out and have some more fun and hopefully keep the FD in one piece and not rub through anything too serious with the tires. -

No worries Carl, I can relate to having a lot going on. Audion19s, myself, and one of our other friends will be heading up early Sat morning. -

Joe or Carl, did you end up signing up? It'd be great to be at an event with some other Rx7s. I was able to go to Nelson yesterday and shake the car down since making my most recent changes. It's running well, but I may have been too agressive with the ride height for Nelson as I wore completely through the driver's side fender liner in the front. :lolguy: -
Ha on the timeline. Looks good though. Can't wait to see this come together.

You've gotten great answers on the 600hp front, so I'll just put my 2 cents elsewhere. The e46 M3 is one of the best all around cars I've ever had the pleasure to drive. It's comfy, has plenty of features, and looks great. In additon to that it represents EXACTLY what BMW fans talk about with their ultimate driving machines. While not fast in a straight line by today's standards, it's still quite fun and the S54 6-cylinder sounds amazing (rasp or no). With some simple suspension and brake tweaks the car will absolutly rip up a track and always ask for more. I've named Audion19s M3 the "Hero Maker" for years now because on the track it's solid, confidence inspiring, and the brakes felt better than the ones in his GT3. He really didn't go crazy on things to get it that way either and didn't have to give up conveniences as he still had full power seats and 3-point belts. Tell your friend to drive a clean example of an e46 M3 before he ever decides on anything else.

Sorry for the lack of updates. These are gone. Thanks Scott. Mods can lock this

I did it when I had a DSM and was cheap and in college. :fa: For pre-turbo as an intake as you described I had no issues. I wouldn't want to be using it for a pressure pipe though.

you drive in the rain. Still fun, you'll learn more car control and how to be smooth. Makes for some more "code brown" moments sometimes though. -
oh man, that's horrible, you have my condolences. Keep us all posted. We are all on the edge of our seats for details. :gabe:

I usually just drive up and back the same day. -
I have 2 tires available for sale in 275/40-17. They have approximately 5/16ths of tread left, with even wear across the tire. They do have a bit of abnormal wear that happened from me taking them to the track. The inside of one of the tread blocks chunked off a bit. I did not notice any vibration from it and it did not eat all the way through the tread block either. I took close ups of them for you to see. It's primarily on the left tire (they're directional). I'd like $60 for the pair. Right tire showing wear bars http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z56/kutschca/For%20Sale/photo2.jpg left tire showing chunking http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z56/kutschca/For%20Sale/photo4.jpg close up http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z56/kutschca/For%20Sale/photo5.jpg
