  1. And then you could theoretically be on Ohio riders whilst riding in Ohio! Ridiculous! Seriously though that would be cool to upload photos from events and rides straight from your phone to the forum. And the searchable bike database is an awesome idea Jblosser! We have our bikes listed with our user information, it shouldn't be to hard to turn that into something. Maybe similar to information at the bottom of the screen (active users past 24 hours, currently active users, etc). Something like, "motorcycles represented." I'm just spitballing here.
  2. What if we had a bike of the month award? There are a lot of great member bikes and we should do something to recognize the best of the best. We could use the "poll" feature to vote on them, and setup a nomination thread the month before. And we should have a build-up section as well. Like the tech section, but dedicated solely to bike builds. Right now we've got build ups under the "daily ride," "introductions" and other sections. A centralized section would make it easier to see what everyone is working on (and kick my ass in gear)
  3. http://www.danemmettfestival.org/ Art show and Bluegrass music on Saturday There's going to be a car and motorcycle show on Sunday. Registration begins at 10:00 am Here's the full schedule http://www.danemmettfestival.org/schedule.php edit: Not sure how we're classifying Mount Vernon. Some call it "Central" others "Northeast." If this post should be moved by all means, move it. I went to college in Mount Vernon, and know some decent rides through the area if anyone ends up going, I can send you some route ideas. It's a nice area to get lost in as well with a full tank of gas.
  4. That's in my neighborhood! I'll be there with my camera!
  5. Sometimes I see a kid like that and think "the next Bill Gates. I'll probably be working for them in twenty some years." But that kid: most likely going to be expelled for masturbating in the corner of homeroom and end up sucking toes to feed his growing meth addiction.
  6. You posted this one but neglected to mention that Good Year is looking for a blimp technician! http://goodyear2.candidatecare.com/srccsh/job.guid?_reqID=2000002544010&_cache=858093306601416451&x=1175 I think Brn6604 is right: this sounds like an internal sales job. "Oh you're sponsored by Goodyear, have you tried our new tire yet?"
  7. It makes you feel all blue collar and bad ass. You start singing old country songs about union bosses and the war and cars and stuff. Until somebody who really is blue collar comes by and smacks you with wrench.
  8. PBR, High Life, Honey Brown (a twelve pack is like $10.00). When I've got money I turn into a beer snob... Sam Adams Seasonal, Framboise Lambic, Leineinkugels, Hobgoblin, Obscure German or English beers, Smithwick's. And more...
  9. http://www.creativehomeowner.com/index.php?pane=project&projectid=chhva047 Of the three websites I looked at, this one seemed to be the easiest to understand and appeared the most legitimate.
  10. We don't have a bike of the month award do we? This one has my vote if we do!
  11. I acted a little bit in high school, I could fake it if you wanted to pay me. I know with the garage my dad and I use here in Columbus they will let you provide the parts and they provide the labor for customization and performance mods. If you've got someone you like going to, ask them if they can work something out with you. Sorry I don't know anyone up there to help you out. In all seriousness it doesn't seem to be much more difficult than installing fog lights.
  12. Ok, here's my thoughts: Plastic bags are readily available, and difficult to recycle. If I shred them into something similar to chopped glass, and mix with resin (either epoxy or polyester) and then work it into a body panel. Paper pulp can be pressed fairly easily into shape and soaked in epoxy. Or I can press it, and then skin it with a layer of fiberglass. Both should work out to be inexpensive and fairly light. With that said, it seems like a spray and lay would be the better option currently. Price point will depend on amount of work involved. What I'd like would be something higher quality than what's coming out of China right now and hopefully a lower cost. What I'm thinking is because my raw ingredients are fairly inexpensive, I could turn out fairings for track days or salvaged wrecks rebuilds. Especially if I could get the price in the $100-$300 range.
  13. Which is really funny because our whole system was setup to prevent that from happening. Both from the uneducated mob gaining too much power, and from any one person seizing power. Supposed to.
  14. No tramp stamps? That must be the classiest hooters east of the Mississippi!
  15. Alright, I'm a bit of an environmentalist and i had an idea to use fiberglass resin and shredded plastic bags or shredded paper to mold things like body panels or fairings for motorcycles (if it works, discount for Ohio Riders members of course). A few things though: 1) Does anyone know a good place to get resin? I know Autozone and places like that have it, but they can be expensive when it comes to body work supplies. 2) Anyone have experience with press molding fiberglass? What would I need to do to set it all up and try it out? 3) Is this crazy?
  16. His whole thing was that by limiting some personal freedoms, everyone is ultimately more free. If everyone tries to drive to work at the same time, we end up with traffic jams and no one really drives to work. But if we implemented some restrictions, then everyone would get to work in a relatively quick manner. Lenin high jacked Marx to play on the growing discontent of the poor in Russia. Seriously though, if hanging to the right, voting for Bush, and wanting to bring about a master race makes me a Nazi then...
  17. Jbot makes a good point. Historically speaking, the bombs were demonstrated on Hiroshima and Nagasaki for two big reasons: 1) Hiroshima hadn't been bombed, and was relatively intact, with plenty of buildings still standing. Meaning any damage done to the city would be entirely from the Bomb. 2) According to this site, there was a significant military presence in Hiroshima. We bombed a legitimate target (and not an abandoned island) because military planners and the scientists, weren't sure if the bomb would even work. Had it been dropped on Hiroshima and not gone off, we could hush it up. Personally, my take on it is this: Japan at the time had pledged to fight to the last man, woman, and child if we invaded the homeland. The best estimates of US casualties was 50,000 upwards to 1 million+ (Wikipedia. Actually a decent article). Japanese casualties were significantly higher, and given the actions of Japanese civilians on some islands (opting to commit suicide rather than surrender) we could have seen the majority of the Japanese people dead. So in that sense, a few hundred thousand sacrificed for the lives of millions. I'm not even a believer in utilitarianism, but that's a decision that makes sense given the facts present at the time. Of course we can debate back and forth hypotheticals forever. If we do apologize it should be something along the lines of "sorry for choosing to bomb you into surrendering, not invading and fighting for every square inch of land, and inflicting awful casualties on your military and your people. Our fault for deciding to NOT destroy your entire nation."
  18. We'll apologize right after every Japanese corporation that used POWs as slave labor pays our veterans fair wages for the labor they performed.
  19. Casper's right, if you can keep them put together and clean them out, that would save you so much time and so many headaches. Secondly, soaking them in something is also a good idea especially if rust is involved. If money is tight, lemon juice, vinegar, or a combination of the two works well. It's powerful so be careful Lastly, you might be able to get away with just tearing down the bottoms of the carbs and cleaning the bowls, needles, jets, etc without having to completely disassemble each and every carb.
  20. That bike looks ridiculous! I want two, and then I'll drop them in a pit to see who emerges victorious. The winner will be fed a healthy diet of motorcycles, slabs of beef and pedestrians. Every night I'll let it loose to hunt the weak and wicked.
  21. True, but carb cleaner doesn't dissolve the rust that can clog up the jets and passages that run through a carb. Plus vinegar and lemon juice aren't going to cause cancer and health issues due to repeated exposure.
  22. That is correct; thank you Casper
