  1. Was around midnight ish, I would guess (I work on campus). Anyways, you'll get a lot of suggestions from guys here. More road then you'll have time to travel. I'm from Lancaster, so my usual is South of Columbus. I typically head North near Millersport/204ish or near Canal 674. The last good ride I did was St Rt 33 to St Rt 180 West through Laurelville. Came out to 159 North back into Lancaster , but you can also head West and come up St Rt 674 North into Canal Winchester and back into Columbus. Really nice trip, but you do get the occasional gravel in the road...but this can be said of many roads. Just remember to wear your gear! (you have some right )
  2. Welcome to the boards! I went by the bike tonight, good looking machine. Just need to find a cover for it! =) When things warms up, the group rides will start so keep and eye out at the columbus section.
  3. Get about the same as ex on my 04. Around 38-42MPG Highway/Work and around 30-35 messing around
  4. March 30th in Charlestown, WV. Hope its a good show.
  5. Solving this for you all since I am bored at work. 4511.25 Lanes of travel upon roadways of sufficient width. (A) Upon all roadways of sufficient width, a vehicle or trackless trolley shall be driven upon the right half of the roadway, except as follows: http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/4511.25 Read if you want lose a minute or two of your life and figure it all out. Though I agree 100% with what OK is doing with this and would love to see it in Ohio. To truly get something like this going, you would need to get some political backing/backbone and prosecutors willing to take it. Imagine trying to enforce this only to get it tossed back in the face at the court house.
  6. My female cousin just got a great deer on the 26th of last month, heres a photo (face censored).
  7. I took my test at the BMV with my bike (04 600rr) and passed it. While its not exactly easy, it is possible. I hit the BMV test area in lancaster late at night or when they were closed to practice. It took some tries to get the line down for the cones and turn around/stop. Thats about the hardest part due to the turning stlye of the sportbike. Get the launch/stop part down also, I got a point or 2 for going to far. Just practive it imo, it really does help (just make sure they are closed as you can't practice during business hours). GL with the test.
  8. I'd have to say the primary one for us would be Mid Ohio. They offer riding courses for Novie/Experiance and advanced. They also offer Track days that follow the same skill levels. The biggest differance, is that you have to attendent 1 or novie before you can go into the experianced group ect so that your not behind the curve. Just check it out for yourself and do the research. http://www.midohio.com/school.aspx
  9. Depending on the duration of this I might be able to make it or at least some of it if we leave on time.
  10. So are these still going on? I thought about it back when this thread was active and would like to get my suspension adjusted if possible. If anyone else is interested post up
  11. An update that I got: Just an update because I know the media reports very little of actual facts that really matter....Cory suffered a fractured skull in the back of his head, a bruise to the front of his brain, a fractured pelvis, and a large gash in his leg. So far they have completed surgery on the hip and leg. The brain injury is a wait and see type of thing. They have drilled a hole in his skull to relieve pressure from swelling. He has not regained consciousness as of yet but did seem to start hearing people talk to him yesterday and move some of his extremities.
  12. For the link: http://www.nbc4i.com/midwest/cmh/news.apx.-content-articles-CMH-2007-08-03-0015.html As for the details of what I can say, this accident didn't actually happen at the Lane/Kenny intersection. It happened on a small side road back by the Cattle Barns NW of the Lane/Kenny Intersection that is OSU property. From seeing the pictures of the accident and its rider, it wasn't a terrible accident but when you ride too fast these things happen.
  13. Cancled do to no attendence. Will try again!
  14. Sorry to hear about that! Karma definately sucks when that happens, I did something similar last year but managed to keep it standing and got back onto the road. Hope to see you back on your bike soon!
  15. Its my day off so I can go anytime during the morning/day/evening. I'll leave this up to fireman on if he wants to go earlier or later since your taken from 10-11. With us cutting out some of the trip and starting at 204/256 its only about 45-50 miles tops and will only take an hour probably. I can always add on roads and others places if we want to go longer. Edit, Made a 2ndary route thats up to about 60 miles and goes up into Lithopolis/Canal. I'd say our options are either a 8-8:30am start or a 11:30am. I'd be more apt for the 11:30 outting then earlier, but I can do both. Let me know.
  16. Want to tentatively set this for a 10am meeting then? We could head out by 10:30-11 and probably be back in pickerington by 12:30ish. From there we could split out and head home unless lunch sounds good. Hope to see more then 1 person show up.
  17. That works for me, I had to schedule a Dr's visit for weds so lets plan on Thursday the 2nd. Meeting place is the Speedway at 256/204. I still need a suggested meeting time from anyone interested in going. My reasoning for the early ride was to avoid the extreme heat thats coming, but if later works better for others then we can go with that. Let me know as the dates coming up fast
  18. Time/date are really up in the air depending on when the most people would be able to come. Like I said, my pref is either early or later in the afternoon. As for a meeting point, we could use the Taco Bell (bigger) or Speedway(smaller) on West Lane.(West of Kenny Road at/near Northstar) Let me know which date/time combo would work best for you so we can get this set in stone.
  19. Wow, this thing really took off. Nice Pic btw. As for the windscreen on being a device...I think common sense would take over, but I would definately like to get the offical word from the BMV/Director of Public Saftey. My own personal thoughts are: any full windscreen that prevents any object from direct contact to the face and eyes. The Full Cruiser Harley/Goldwing style comes to mind on this since it typically can go the width of the front and height to the top of your head. This would block most debris/bugs from direct contact into your face/eyes and probably results in a montage of bug guts/dirt/grit that would make modern art. I can understand your being upset also and after doing some checking with friends a ticket for that (Visor) goes $110. I know your upset, but taking off that fast won't help things. When your angry, sad or upset.... that is not the time to be on a motorcycle. Your not focused on what your doing since your thinking about other events (in this case getting pulled over) and it drastically increases your chance of messing up and going down. I would also like to remind everyone in columbus of the helicopters they use (they have two). Those thing loves to catch speeders! You might be able to out run a car, but that thing doesn't have to follow roads like we do. I'm sure you all remember the Sean Hill thing from last month, going 168mph or something like that and got caught. Hes screwed even with a good attourny I'd imagine, but I'd really rather not see anyone from here having to be in the same situation. Since it free to check and posted before, hit up the ohio revised code if you want to translate it 8( http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/29 (criminal) http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/45 (traffic) Thats all the current laws in and you can find out what not to do before you might do it, or you want to go to bed shortly there after reading
  20. Anyone interested in going out August 1st or 2nd? I was messing around on google and made a decent 90-100mile route. Goes from a central meeting point of around Lane/315 to 204 into Buckeye Lake & Thornville, down 188 to Pleastantville and West/NW back into Pickerington. Pretty good mix of straights/hills/twistys from what I remember. Would take about 2 hrs max, but probably less depending on how fast things go. A meeting place/time is up in the air depending on if anyone is interested but I was thinking either early morning or late afternoon (10am or 5pm). Just let me know according to your schedules.
  21. Thanks to XBS and the others for coming out today for my first group ride. Sorry for cutting in at Somerset so abrubtly, but I had to tell ya some how Didn't know we were going through there to start with, but since it was the closest way home I took it for some much needed sleep. PS, I still have my headache but work is quiet thus far. (/knocks on wood). I'll try to set something up next week mid week/mid to late afternoon if anyone is interested.
  22. While it can be a pita and a minimal reason to be stopped, its set there so that motorcycle riders don't take a bug/rock to the eye and wreck. I can't count how many times I've had huge bugs or rocks bounce off my visor or helmet and I think "god that would've hurt". The reply for this straight from the Ohio Revised Code Online for the law itself (edited to shorten it a bit): 4511.53(B) No person shall operate or be a passenger on a snowmobile or motorcycle without using safety glasses or other protective eye device. The helmet, safety glasses, or other protective eye device shall conform with regulations prescribed and promulgated by the director of public safety. Pretty much anything that covers your eyes, (sunglasses, shooting glasses, visor, ect) and your good to go. I don't know of anyone that hasn't rode with their visor up at one time or another(cops included). At least you got out with a warning for it, as more of a reminder to have something over your eyes.
  23. I'll try to be there by 9, but might be closer to 9:30ish as I have to head home and change clothes(mind you I live in lancaster). Guess if I show up and no one is there I'll know that everyone has headed out.
  24. I get off work at 7am, but I'd like to try and make this. Never been to QS&L/marathon but I imagine I can find it with some simple directions. Whats the offical time for meeting for this 9am or 10am and Marathon instead of QS&L? Double checking address: 1555 Polaris Pkwy--Marathon Columbus, OH
  25. There are a lot of good tires out there to use. From checking other forms and doing research myself, I'd have to say at the Pilot Powers are a great tire. I currently use Dunlop's Quilifer and its been good thus far on the rear. As for my next tire change front+rear I'm either going to get 2 Quilifiers or 2 Pilot Powers. I have heard of moderate life for the Quilifers, espically for commute riding. I'm testing this now, but I have read that they seem to do a lot better for canyon/twist riding and will last 3-5k miles probably. But I think that life of a tire really comes down to your riding style and how squidly you are or aren't. As for top Sellers for Street: Metzeler Sporttec/M3 Dunlop Quilifer Michlien Pilot Powers Pirelli Diablo More Track Based Tires: Pilot Power 2CT Pirelli Diablo Corsa/Diabo Corsa 3's Pirelli Dragon SuperCorsa Just check the tires and see what you like the most and want to afford. Hope this helps.
