  1. Dude, you cant possibly expect to see in an onboard video what the issues are. You've been on a track before, you know that you cant always SEE the issues from that perspective.

What a lot of these car guys forget is the after crash dynamics are totally opposite for a motorcycle when compared to a car. Tracks don't seem to take that into account.

    For the record:

Turn one has a concrete wall close enough that you could rub your shoulder on it. Not too comfy at 160 plus on the big bikes.

Turn 2 has an END of a concrete barrier exposed to the rider in the crash zone.

They moved some of the concrete barriers, only to leave a 10 foot deep drainage ditch at the end of any runoff area.

Hey, if Pergam thinks its safe, good for him. I happen to think he saw a chance to do well with some other riders out of the picture and took it.

Kudos to the riders that had the balls to stand up to the AMA/DMG/RE bullshit and walk.

The guys that said it was "sketchy" but raced anyway? What a bunch of pussies.

If the walls are that close you will be able to see them on a on board. The Speed Channel feed had angles where you couldn't even see much of T1 and T2 from the bit I watched of it, or couldn't tell how close the walls were. If the walls are as close as they say then I agree with you, Matt, and the others who walked out. I am just reserving judgement till I can see the track from a riders perspective.

  2. Gingerman is very challenging. It is dang near flat as a pancakce which makes it very hard to see the track sometimes mid corner as most corners do not have curbs.

It is so far the most phsyically demanding track I have ever been on. It is much slower then Putnam, but is still very exhilarating.

I still have a lap to finish :(

  3. I couldn't pick him out on the first few laps as I was looking for Red. I was hoping he would be able to really close down the gap to Stoner, but that was a tall order. Hopefully Assen and Laguna are signs that his comfort and feeling on the bike are on the up. We got 4 of his better tracks coming up so hopefully he can keep improving and get top 5 pace consistantly now.

  4. if you get an r6 make sure it comes with at least 2 spare motors.

    gixxer = teh track bike

    /thread

    +1

Plenty of spare blown motors out there in Ohio and MI

And +1 for a 650 to really learn on. Even my 03 600 power caught me a few times.

  5. That was actually a perfectly valid point, and yes he is right. Why can't more of your posts be like that.

Also, the mention of a 14 year old on a 125, like Aprilia's RS125, is true to. Said 14 year old will whip your ass on a race track even if you are on a Busa'. I know that may hurt some of your eFeelings considering you bought the fastest bike and there's no "replacement for displacement" (That antiquated slogan can only refer to drag racing nowadays, and we aren't talking about that now are we) but that's the way it is. They are super lightweight, have amazing braking potential, and can carry some serious corner speed.

If you don't want to be embarrassed by a 14 year old on a 125, stay off the track.

To add a bit of info to the fire, last year Red Bull Rookies Cup Hayden Gilam at Mid OH ran 1:35s (almost good enough to qualify for 600 Supersport) on basically a bone stock 125. The fastest I have gone around that track is in the 1:37 range on my 600 and only 1:40 cruising learning my 1000 last year.

Now for the street a good street rider can move a Busa around at an extremely fast pace for street, but said rider would prolly ride the same pace with less work on a 600-1000 true Race Designed bike. On the street it is how hard you are willing to push and your skill level as to is faster.

  6. its either battery or your butterfly valve on the exaust is sticking. I am 100% sure its one of those 2 things. The little valve on the exaust gets rusted and wont turn therefore chokes the bike out. look down at the the right(brakeside)and turn the key on. Look at the little valve on the exaust and make sure it opens ALL THE WAY then closes all the way. A little lube and i bet ur good to go. DONT TAKE IT TO A DEALER! Call me and i'll walk u through all the steps. 513-678-7686 Brandon

Brandon the valves at idle are in the lowest position already so that wouldn't cause the bike to die at idle. And would have more issues up top if it was shut enough to cause idle issues.

The only difference on that is it wont make full power over 7k rpm when it is supposed to open. I rode a R1 with a seized shut EXUP on track and it ran fine just no power.

  7. I've asked that question 2 times in this thread. I need a referral for a reputable shop that's NOT going to keep my bike for weeks on end!

I know there are people up in CBUS who could help and take your tank off and check the Fuel Filter out for you. It is as simple as draining the tank, take it off then take out the fuel pump on the bottom.

And while the tank is off take the airbox off and check the Spark plugs.

  8. It was only as slow speeds in 1st gear only. It does hesitate when I hit the throttle. I'm so sad!!!! I was gonna ride her to Lima today for my Uncle's retirement party and now I have to drive b/c I don't feel safe with her. :(

I had a similar issue on my K3 when I got hard on the gas it would hesitate (bog down) but it would idle

The issue was the tank had rusted some and the fuel filter (inside the gas tank for the Fuel Pump) had clogged up with the bits of rust. I cleaned the filter and it was fine from then on.

  9. Some K6 models did have issues with FI light stock, and I think it had to do with the Cat converter on the bike.

Was it running as normal at the higher speeds or did it seem off?

If plugs were fouled up it would feel like it was sick all the time.

What happnes when you just Pin the throttle real quick, does it jump or does it hesitate?

  10. What is your Idle set at?

It could also be a clogged fuel pump filter.

Something as simple as Synching your Throttle Bodies.

Stock or does it have a Power Commander?

But from the sound it is a fueling issue and those generally tend to be in the Fuel filter, fuel pump, or throttle bodies.

The only other possibility is it needs new Spark plugs, but you would notice issue also at higher RPM.

  11. Bastard! I hope you die in a fire. From a volcano...while sleeping. Jk. :D

Very nice. What made you decided on Cr?

Well if he is close to Arenal that is possible.

I love the resort near that Volcano in Costa Rica.

Where at in Costa Rica you heading?

  12. If you aren't familiar with a clutch, want to learn, and like the cruiser type I would say try suzuki's Boulevard 650. My Dad bought one for his Dad to learn again at 74 yrs old. He then sold it to my Aunt who used it to re-learn and pass her test.

The 650 is 1 cylinder and makes learning the clutch is very easy as it is almost impossible to stall the bike. The bike also has a very low center of gravity and very low seat height.

  13. Once all healed up have Zero get you in the dirt and practice locking up that rear tire. Once you get comfortable with it like that you'll be doing it for fun :D

Actually the slower speed slides are harder to deal with then those at speed where Gyro and speed keep the bike more stable while sliding.

  14. Trust me its not much fun the other way around Ive been there. I dont wish that on my worst enemy!

I don't know once you do it enough it kind of doesn't bother you...

Yep you'll find sometimes you want to ride with someone and others you want everyone to GTFO...

    Just keep having fun.
