unless racing, not needed at all. If you wanna go with the "I'm cool" while sitting at the Rally's, then grab you one and tell your friends why you have it... We use them at the track due to the fact that the fluid can get hot and seep out of the tiny hole on the reservoir and the wrist band catches the dribbles that come out. Those dribbles will splash up into the windscreen and on your shield... Sucks at speed and is pretty toxic stuff. Other than that, the UV light idea is not an issue as we bleed brake fluid all the time. The UV won't break it down as fast as it isn't in there long...

Dude, it's for fun and having a good time. They don't race there anymore so, it is to get some slide on. We can all have a blast! As soon as I get my bikes, I will get this thing going and we can get some folks together and do some SM ridin'!
-
Cool guys! What we can do is keep this thread alive by posting when we can meet for practice and just good ol' fashioned riding around the track. It's been about 4 years since I turned a wheel there so, I need some practice, but it would be a fun thing to do between road race events and track days...

Ok, getting a new Husaberg and converting to Supermoto with it. With that said, I wanna go when there are more SM riders and possibly newer folks wanting to check it out. I will have the 2010 450 FX Husaberg available to ride even. Won't be getting it complete until a few weeks, but wanted to start gauging interest... You'll fill out a demo form that is needed from me to cover any bad crashes and such, but overall, it is going to be there and when I am not riding it, try it out! Wally at Wheelsports is the ONLY Husaberg dealer in Ohio and if you like, he's the place to buy! Or, Evansville Superbike as well... Only two guys in 5 states! But, this thing is pretty bad ass. Will do some trail stuff, as well and mild MX with it... Let's talk what days and number of folks that want to attend CRP practices...

Dude, you're such a chick. Call us when it is the size of a grapefruit. Pussy. We all know it is really the start of a tail. You're like something out of the Hobit. Freak.

A weekend w/STT at Autobahn in late April $220

Bump for a great deal. Wish I could make this event. Was planned, but new job has me out. In the ever notable words from 300, "Come get some!" -
April michelin specials from sportbiketireservice.com
Moto-Brian replied to STT-Guy's topic in Track is Crack
Unbeatable prices folks! Track day riders and aggressive street riders take note! As for racers, look at the contingency pages and you will find that Michelin pays the most. There are lesser tire companies trying to woo you with tires, but ask yourself this - how many top level race championships have they won? Ex employees and older technology used years ago aren't enough to be competitive. Oh, and I'm talking WERA National, WERA Regional and CCS/ASRA type stuff here. There are essentially 3 brands to consider. Michelin is one of those. Anything other than those 3 is simply creating a disadvantage to your race program. Ask us what setup starting points should be set to if you have any questions. -
Moto Series riders, this is a killer deal and is in support for local racers. Understand these are shipped to your door prices.
-
Bump! Get your entries in folks! Should be a fun event with not as many as usual riders for a more intimate setting.

Oh, man... I was excited for a minute as I thought you ditched the Duc and got a real bike!

Moto-Brian replied to flounder's topic in Tech and Tips
Correction... It wasn't a "we've had the same moment"... It was YOU had an oh shit moment. I planned it that way. -
Nah, cruiser guys are fun. Rolling chicanes make things interesting...

Ride Mandates&Rules for Group rides this year!
Moto-Brian replied to flounder's topic in Tech and Tips
I just look over my shoulder and tell the guy behind me "Don't try and keep up" and turn back, click into 1st and roll. Wussies. :D -
Agreed 100%. For the majority of riders here, these are pretty lame in my opinion. Good info, but definately cruiser oriented...

Ride Mandates&Rules for Group rides this year!
Moto-Brian replied to flounder's topic in Tech and Tips
Does the MSF teach what newb sport bike riders learn? Their lessons are great for newer riders and such. I think they need to step it up slightly and encompass more styles of riding... I agree with you on the IDEA of the newbs in the middle and am not agreement with Floundy on the leading the group idea. However, the fact is that newbs need to be behind experienced riders to learn, however it is a double edged sword. I don't care what cruiser riders say, what touring riders say, etc... These sportbike groups are going to have issues either way. The double edged sword is that if you let them lead (I am against), what was stated in the idea they will worry more about what is behind them and not what is ahead of them. We even see this on the track. Newer/more insecure riders keep looking over their shoulders. This is more dangerous than anything... Focus on what is in front of you - the stuff behind makes no difference. It does, but nothing to worry about or concern over... The issue with being last is that they WILL try and keep up. Too often, the pace or the group is a majority of like skill levels. That being said, it is tough to not get antsy and raise the pace at times. This raise tends to cause the newbs to TRY and keep up. I've lost some riders at times behind us when we used to ride all the time. Ability levels really need to be more along the lines of similar abilities vs such a diverse mix. I think lesser experienced riders helping and directing is better than majority experienced with newbs sprinkled about... Middle seems OK, I guess. Think demo rides, etc. The idea is that if the pace heightens, the back group can assist the newbs and control them. However, I still think having newbs in the middle is the same as them leading. Now, they have to keep up AND worry about what is behind them... I feel behind the group is best with maybe one experienced guy in charge of watching and maybe dropping back time to time. In the end, it is all about the mentality of riders. I see poor group rides ALL the time. I see these vids and cringe as they fail at so many things... Remember the following: -Experienced riders... You lead by example. That's enough to say. Act like a tool, influence tools. Simple. Be smart and teach well. -Newbs. You are newbs. Swallow the pride BS and ride to learn. Trying to keep up? You may be a bad ass MX rider, but the guys with experience in front of you will out ride you any day. Swallow it, be open to ideas and let the gates of input flow. Take it in, learn and you'll be fine. Be safe everyone. -

We have those and can be bolted on in minutes. The headlights and front turns are simply taped over with nice vinyl... $5k and two free track days! KILLA deal! -
MIGHT be batch numbers. Maybe something like 42nd batch of May... Something like that. Was it the one matched up with the one that failed? Or, was it with the one next to it with the 09/5? Hmmm... Wish I took pics of the backs of mine... Here's the wear I was getting. It was crumbling pretty badly. That's why I am wondering if maybe I was doing something wrong? Maybe the rotors needed sandblasted to get any residue from the Vesrahs I was using, etc. Wouldn't think so, but was wondering...
-
Also, the far right one w/o compound looks to be discolored compared to the others. Could have been from direct contact with the rotor, however... The last one on the right with compound appears to also be seperating from the backing? Or is that just the light?
-
The crazy thing is when you look at the pic with them all in line left to right.... The far left one is crumbling a ton around the edges. The next one is crumbling as well... The last right one with compound still on it is almost perfect. Was that one matched up with the one that failed? All mine were crumbling like the far left one... I'm wondering if they are breaking down for some reason and the compound becomes brittle from braking and then cooling... My C55s look like the far right one (with compound)...
-
Letting off the throttle mid turn is as bad as trailing the brake slightly. You are loading the front and that will lead to a low side...

Alright... Been thinking this over and want to apologize that I was wrong. I shouldn't have been a dick about what VW was doing. I guess I just thought that multiple posts seemed over the top. I was wrong. People obviously have a right to know and understand what product went south on him. I didn't want to edit my three posts above as I don't want to look like a guy who renigs on what he says. I felt that way and after thinking about it, it makes sense to make some posts. Glad everything turned out OK. I'm still a little upset over the idea that I could have prevented this. I won't go there, but I meant no harm to anyone and certainly wasn't recommending C/L to anyone who asked when they were still C44s. C55s as of right now are a good choice in my mind. Been on the likes of go fast stars like Robert Jensen and honestly, he's had a failure with the C44s, too. I think that VW and I are the only ones to have lost the compound as the others i know of got to the pits and pulled calipers and the compounds fell out... Sorry, guys. I'm not trying to cover anything up, blame anyone like VW or anything of the sort. I just got jumpy and felt it was bashing more than explaining... Mathias will take good care of him. He's a stand up guy. Cheers and apologies.
-
I'm done. I'm not blaming VW. Quite the contrary. The pads looked worn. Just saying that had he seen the crumbling, he might have changed pads and avoided this. Crumbling isn't good. Can we all agree on that part? Second, I was simply saying once is enough. Second threads with videos is another series of the same thing. We only need one thread and one version and can discuss. Why is it that the WERA guys can say the same thing and not be dicks, but I am here...? Here's my final thought. Buy C/L if you want. If you feel the newer C55s are possibly going to fail? Stay away from them. Easy.
-
So it is my fault it happened? Fucking serious? What if he would have gotten killed? Would I be responsible because I didn't mention the pad company? Holy shit, man... There are others that had the same thing happen. Are they responsible, too? It could have EASILY been a fault on my end. Blaming the company and finding out I could have contributed to the issue would have looked pretty bad on my end. C44s were the ones that went bad. C55s seem to work fine. Now, if VW has the same thing happen and he gets hurt or killed, am I off the hook since they seem to work fine for me? Wow.
-
Dude, first of all, when I posted that thread, I didn't mention names because I hadn't yet TALKED to Mathias about it. Maybe it WAS something I did wrong. Maybe it WAS that I tried to run the pads too long and get as much out of them as possible. I'm not an Ex-AMA rider. Please don't over exaggerate things. Never speak as if I am the fastest guy, I never tell people I am better than anyone. That's a little bit of BS right there and makes me somewhat a little pissed. I support what you are saying. However, to keep posting new threads and adding videos is going to a bit of extreme. Bringing it up and explaining your side is enough. Adding videos and extras tends to be as if you are wanting attention. I told my friends. I told those that were close to me. It's not my style to smear anyone and I understand that it is rare this happened and gave it a second chance. I refused to try another set until the newest batch came out. You are doing the same. Kudos for trying. Just tread a little more lightly on making me sound like a goody too-shoes... I'm furthest from that.
-
The pads are thicker than what they show now in his pics. I can maybe go and pull a new set and take a shot. The big issue is the leading edge where it is crumbling. Possibly from too much heat and they got brittle and started to crumble at the leading edges? Not sure. I honestly don't have a clue and am by no means supporting C/L on this. I think the replacement compound is the C55 which is what i am using now - not the C44s... The C44s are not the race pads we use... I agree it shouldn't happen and I have taken Vesrahs to almost the backing plate and had zero issues. However, the pads I have now are not crumbling on the leading edge and the ones I had that delaminated did... I think what is happening is that the process by which they bond the braking material to the baking plate is different now. I also believe they MIGHT have changed the compound to prevent the crumbling. Like I said, the ones I have now are not crumbling... The compound that failed on me caused me to get my money back and go back to Vesrah. Issue came up where I needed pads for Mid-Ohio and couldn't get Mark to get back with me in time and so, I talked with Mathias and he told me that things were somewhat different and they feel it shouldn't be an issue. Not sure why I tried, but I did and so far, (knock on wood) I have been fine with them... Also, I did dismiss it since I tried the newer ones and felt that if it happened again, the odds of it happening off the back straight at Mid-Ohio at full tilt was slim. Maybe I am crazy for that mentality...
