  1. The Secondary throttle valve actuator (STVA) is bad obviously. Mine had the same issue. Suzuki has a 5 year unlimited mile warranty they do on emission parts on these bikes. This is a part that falls under that. I did this last year on mine and it was easy and done quickly. If you have issues, PM me and I will get you the info and where to take it. Easy fix and you'll get a new throttle body assembly. Don't sell it - it's simple to fix.
  2. If the Kaw filters are still foam, they dyno'd better than K&N for us. Of course, that's a long time ago... If you are thinking of a filter like K&N, the BMC is a better choice. But, again, OEM ain't bad, man.
  3. PM me as I have a friend who is trying to sell one that is 100% stock and he's more anal than me as far as keeping his stuff clean...
  4. Aw, shucks... Nah, I'm cool to apologize when it makes sense. I went a little overboard that day - was having a bit of a rough day and was slightly edgy...
  5. I know. Damn skirt wearing wussies only use dampers... Just call me Sally.
  6. As you know, I am running black and white this year. I think the white CBR is the SCHIZNIT! Awesome colorway!
  7. Vera- Welcome!! Younger was probably meant as mentality. Meaning, these folks are primarily enthusiasts more into the motorcyle community and groups than at LR where the groups are old school metality folks. The guys over at LR are in a tight knit group and as you have seen, unless you play by their rules, you don't fit in. Here, it is a totally different scene. Cool folks, a lot more sport enthusiasts (Hell, 90% plus of that board couldn't tell you anyone in any of the race series w/o looking it up on the internet...) and have a genuine interest in a vast spectrum of our industry. Welcome and enjoy. Hell, just look at the posts and number of folks on here at any given time. We blow LR away!
  8. Ben, was that you going south on 23 today about 3-ish? Saw a bright orange ZX10 with gold wheels. It looked sweet!
  9. I have an XD .45 as well. GREAT pistol and very accurate - would recommend it to ANYONE in any caliber. Great company, great pistol.
  10. I agree. I will apologize for the "lame" comment. Sorry to the OP...
  11. Man, these new liter bikes are so light and tend to be very light on the front. When they dance the front like that under load, they tend to shake the front. The damper allows it to be slowed and lessened to prevent tank slap. An angry liter bike is a tough bull to ride... I run mine pretty light as I like the movement and such... Not a need on the smaller bikes, but the 750 is a boarder line one to have it on...
  12. Since April 08, the only thing you've purchased was a clear clutch cover? No tires, nothin'? Hmmmm... Whatever, man. All I am going to continue to do is give heads up on things that people can do better with. Consider that being a dick? That's cool. I personally could care less. You don't buy much of anything it seems as a rider so, it is a moot point in your case. But, for the majority of riders who in almost a year have made more than one single motorcycle related part, they deserve to know if something is a good deal or not. Close out in this case on one pair of gloves means they ordered it and it didn't fit or something similar. Meaning, it isn't a stocking item. 20% off isn't that good a deal. Sponsor or not. Didn't flame the guy, didn't say his shop sucked, didn't say he tries to rip people off. Just isn't a great deal. Period. If you think it is and saving $50 is a deal to you, cool. Some people think retail is fine. It's a deal as long as you feel it is and that you are happy.
  13. Telling peopl it isn't that great a deal is being a dick? Dude, you're so damn screwed up in your perception of what is going on, it makes me laugh. By the way, let's put a time frame on your "purchase" from these guys. By the way (not that I believe you'll tell the truth), why didn't you buy the last accessory you got from these guys?
  14. You bought anything from them? If not, how's it feel to be called a kettle? Seriously, dude... Just because they are a sponsor it means we all have to say "WOW!! What a damn great deal!" We can't comment and say that they are not really that great a deal? Seriously? Are you against freedoms we as US citizens enjoy? Damn, man... Relax.
  15. Plus, if you surf the net, you can buy them cheaper... I would just figure a sponsor would have a better deal than 20% off... Good deal, but not great. All I'm sayin'...
  16. Actually, Iron pony one of the biggest if not THE biggest accessories dealer East of the Mississippi. Trust me when I say that they have a customer base that is HUGE and they have a really solid return rate so it isn't just a one time trip for a lot of people.... They are a powerhouse of a shop and their numbers blow a majority of dealers away.
  17. How many guys actually get their bikes even dyno'd and simply just download maps and ride? If he does just tuning, it will dry up after a bit of time. You need something else to get them into the store. Once in and they see the tuning going on, the results and hearing what is said inside, they'll likely be back. If it is just tuning, you'll get guys saying they need to get there, but do something else. It's a VERY small market and he needs something to support the tuning side. The BS with powder coating, the specialty crap - it's fluff. It isn't enough to attract everyday riders. He needs accessories and tires, oils, accessories, etc. The number one money maker in any shop is accessories. Not service. There's a reason for that... Service is great and he certainly can be the best tuner around, but he needs to build that base and even after doing so, he isn't going to get a lot of return guys once they get tuned in. He needs something to get them back. Accessories help that. He doesn't need to compete with Iron Pony. Look at HNW. They have a low amount of accessories, but they are better than Hinds, ASK, etc. They do pretty good because they do have some good accessories in stock and a decent selection. Can they compete with Pony? Nope. The problem is that dealers don't carry much accessories and they end up losing that customer. That guy buys a $12k sportbike, he needs a helmet, a jacket, gloves, etc. If they can't get it, they will buy elsewhere... The answer is accessories. But, what do I know? I only do it everyday...
  18. As far as carbs, you cannot do it all. Sorry for the guys with carbs, but the people with money to spend and the GENERAL population are FI. If you start taking in older technology, you run into deals where your prices for tuning are going to start getting too high for these folks. A guy who has a $2500 carbed bike curely needs service, but if you are a serious tuning shop and a serious performance based shop, FI is what folks use and will pay for work. They can see results immediately and will be happy. Most carbed guys can find a small shop for their needs. It sucks, but that's life. I wouldn't touch anything that is over 10 years old. That includes some carbed bikes, I know, but you probably need to have a set limit as a lot of performance shops do. The reason is really price and parts. Again, a guy with a 1990 FZR600 that's worth maybe $2500 total is going to spend 10% of the worth just to dial it in? Doubtful. You quote him a legit price (carb tuning takes a LOT more time and labor) and he's going to get scared off... FI guy comes in and it is the current technology and you can show instant results in WAY less time. They feel good about what you did and you have little invested. There needs to be a cutoff. Again, you cannot do it all and satisfy everyone. If you do a guy's FZR600, why not the guy with the 87 FZ600? Why not the guy with the Yamaha Radian? Maybe Maxim... You get the idea. It all gets balled up into a mess easily. Just do a year cut off.
  19. If you want to go beyond tuning and service, accessories are the number one thing to have. Problem is that you need to invest money into inventory in order to succeed. Too many shops start out in accessories ordering for their buddies or groups of friends and place an initial order with say PU or TR to get started. You need to have a large amount of liquid cash to spend on start up inventory and MAINTAIN it. It isn't cool when a guy comes in and you have to order something everytime. Works for your buds who probably get a discount anyways, but if you want repeat and new customers, you need to have something they want to buy right then and there. Go into these small shops and look around. Too often they are lacking even the basics. TR and PU are the main source for most shops no matter how big and they provide you with the essentials needed. You can tell the inexperienced owners as they typically try and stretch their $10k as far as it will go. $10k is nothing to spend in this industry. You can spend $10 in two product categories. Hell, any serious shop will spend it in one. Do some secret shopping and make a list of likes and dislikes. Two sides of a sheet of paper. Go into various shops and see what they do well and not so well. Be honest, too. Don't worry about price. The minute you try and win customers on price is the minute the big guys hunt you down and wipe you out.
  20. I understand that. My point was that you will wear the tires and load the edges. Anyone that rides Deals and does it in a spirited fashion (within the posted limits and in their own lanes) will be riding a spirited pace. These tires are not the best choice. What the hell? Can't anyone grasp that idea? They work great for some and not so well for others. Simple. Jesus.
  21. You can ride Deal's Gap within the posted limits and within your lane and not do some tire wear? Seriously? You a magic man on tires? Seen a number of GOOD riders come back and stay within those parameters and go a little over and have some decent wear showing. Nothing like bald, but wear edge to edge. Wanna trust Shitcos in that environment? God bless ya... Same with 10? You can go 55 and stay in your lane and get through the corners down there and not have any wear or any load being placed on the outter edge of the tire?
  22. Let me help you with reading comprehension, Mkay? First, I said they were fine for sport touring or less than spirited riding. You say you don't ride hard nor do anything aggressive. Thus, they work for you. Anyone who rides spirited? Stay away. As far as my experience, I know a few guys who have tried them to poor results. I also know a few drag racers and stunters who have tried them with success. What do you not understand here? Please avoid threads if you are too lacking in comprehension skills. It saves us all a lot of work...
