You're gonna get bitch slapped by the anti-PCIII patrol!!! Why on earth would you even insist on doing such things? You should be ashamed! I agree, but apparently, my approach is too harsh and unfriendly. Guess I need to be more kind and thoughtful of people's feelings.
-
You want to help me understand it better? You guys claim a PCIII is a waste yet all of a sudden, we find out it is running a little rich. I mean, hell, who cares? He's a fucking street rider who likes to spend a few hundred bucks for a poor running bike. Why not, right? There are those people out there (apparently you're not one of them) that put money into their stuff because they want performance and results. Guess telling them to buy decent parts and getting it set up and tuned properly is only for those that are hard core racers. I hope the OP understands why it is in his best interest to not listen to guys that think 2 Bros is a great exhaust, that PCIIIs are stupid and that feel poor running bikes after spending hundreds of bucks is totally fine because they lack the ability to tell the difference...
-
Great, 3rd grade name calling tactics. Why do you dousche bags seem to think if it isn't race, it isn't worth listening to? Seriously... First, if you want to ride something you've invested money in and get average to below average results, fine. Move along and do what your feelings direct you to. For the guys that seemingly want it to be the best they can get, get the fucking thing dyno'd. I mean, if you are happy with slapping shit on and not caring about how it performs, why not just cut the baffle out to get the sound you want? By the way, glad you can read and make assumptions like everyone else. Thank God you don't want to do track days, too. At least I'll be able to sleep better tonight. Christ...

Well, I don't know why I need to be an SV rider to know how things work. I've seen some serious track/race SVs out there and they all have been fine tuned for optimal performance. Now you're saying you might be able to get a little more... My point is this - it isn't going to add hp with a PCIII... It may a little by simply tuning. BUT, that power curve is going to be smoother and better and more noticable. Some people can't tell the difference between 5 hp increase and stock. But, you can tell when applied and put through the ringer. A well sorted WHATEVER motorcycle is going to be better than one that isn't. Like Ninjanick stated, a slip-on is fine for that bike. But, stay away from the junk stuff. Buy something good and that will last a long time w/o issues. Otherwise, why not just guy that no-name crap off ebay?

Your SV runs rich and you think a PC isn't going to help???? What?
-
Shit might be a strong word, but they aren't by any means great and there are WAY better choices out there. PCs and Bazaaz units are the norm in the race world. With a good dyno guy, you can get some really good results. People that don't do PCs and those that do may not have differences in overall power, but I can guarantee that you can get the curve smoother and cleaner than w/o one... Full system - PC. But, what do I know? Jagr has all the answers cause SV forums tell him so. Anyone read that there's a comet heading towards Earth that is going to wipe us out by 2010? The internet says so...

Anyone do dyno runs to prove your theory or are they all as expert in their knowledge as say, gixxer.com?? Two Bros and D&D are shit pipes. If you don't think so, cool. If you look at the materials, the packing and overall production of the pipes, you can easily see. An M4 SS and a Yosh SS are much better pipes and really not that much more money. Any SV with 90 + hp has a PC...

Really, the sole usually is stiffer and the heal and ankle protection. To get close to the protection, you'd have to wear a much heavier work style boot. Cumbersome and bulky...

In the rain at 80mph. Not a good example. A textile mesh jacket and street jeans would have held up in that scenario. I want to see a guy who highsides at the track (where most 1 pieces are used) coming out of a 100 mph corner. I want to see up close seam shots, too. One thing of note - better leather would not have had those abrasions. Each crash can be totally different (I can show you a lady who crashed in a JR Airborn jacket at 60 mph into a guardrail) and walked away with literally what looked to be tar on the mesh surface... Point is that crash tests are usually done by inspecting racers and what they put things through. When I worked with a company field testing their suits, I had to send back any crash suits. I also had to let them know of injury, etc. For example, in 2005, I crashed in a certain popular company's suit and I fractured my left elbow. High speed high side at Grattan. The suit failed because it twisted on my arm and the seam where it met the Schoeller material came apart and I also got a burn from where it was exposing my skin. That was a $800 at retail suit at the time... But, I have crashed at over 100mph and the suit held up fine before that. Ass slides and even a little forearm impact is common and usually never results in busted seams and exposures. It's the hips, elbows, shoulders, etc that take sever crashes and show damage and protection at the same time. I'm done arguing. If you want to compromise safety, go for it. If you have a budget, there are a ton of suits out there under $600. If saving $125 and getting new is what you want, Spartan is your Huckleberry. If you are an advanced track day rider or racer, buy something that will protect you in what you do...

Check out the SHIFT stuff. Better than JR for sure and not poser like everyone else has wearing Icon... Fits exactly like AStar, too. They have a street shoe and some really killer textiles. Textiles are totally cool. I agree on leather if you can do it, but textiles are getting to the point that they hold up rather well. They crash well, too.

Again, it isn't a speed thing. One, too many variables on the street. Too many things that riders need to pay attention to. Developing ability isn't going to happen on the street. If you want to develop skill, they need to do it on a track. Once that is developed, they can work on paying attention and focus on that. Trying to do both is when the shit hits the fan. They have to focus on you, focus on the road, focus on the cars, stones, etc. and focus on themselves and the bike. Too much for a newb. Great intentions, Brandon, but realize that even at a slow pace, people are still going to be riding above their ability and you leading them around is going to have them trying too hard, not paying attention, riding above their limit, etc. I had a kid once when I was working at the shop go out with me to ride. He wanted to learn some things. I was on a Magna (I think a 96 or so) and he on an FZR600. I rode slow and obviously had a machine that was not intended for sport riding. We were on a sweeping set of turns running VERY slow. Usually could rip through there at well over 100mph. I think we never saw 45-50... He was tense and I told him he needed to relax and loosen up. BIG problem with newbies... Anyways, he ended up looking down at a ditch and went off rider's right. Balled up his bike and crashed it. That same issue trail riders get that are new and they look down at the rut instead of eyes forward thing... The result was that he ended up hurting the bike and he had to pay out of pocket because he was afraid his insurance would increase too much seeing he was only 18... I don't care who it is or how slow you go, the street is no place to learn how to ride a sportbike and on "twisties". $150 for a day at Bluegrass with STT and the Novice group is a better expense than possibly crashing your ride and paying $150 for a lower fairing... $150, right - probably more like $350... You get the idea. Wide Open Wednesdays are going to happen at BG for $150 and over 7 hours of track time. You can't beat that.
-
But it is a classic example of differences of ability and poor riding skills that if trained and taught in a controlled environment, could be avoided... There were PISS POOR choices even if the rider in front was slower than what he was. There were a shit pile of close calls and inevitably, riders get strung out. We have the same issue at track days - people are different ability levels and we find ourselves getting groups too far apart. What happens? sometimes, we get that kid in the back trying too hard and balls his shit up trying to catch back up. We run 2:00 lap times and still get kids crashing... It has nothing to do with speed...

Two bros and D&D systems are total shit. STAY AWAY! Spend your money on a system of quality and you'll be rewarded. If you want to work on a budget, go with an M4 SS system or a Yosh SS system. Otherwise, Akro, Arrow, Leo are the way to go. Look at the graphs and the power gains and make a decision. Also, anyone who says you don't need a PC is full of it. PCs are used to get the best power delivery. Butt dynos are BS and anyone who thinks they can butt dyno vs the real thing has snake oil they are willing to sell you, too. If an after market system is what you are wanting, get a PC and a good system. Cheap is cheap for a reason...

Print the ad and maybe they will match it. It's well known that suit is on closeout and at that price right now... Doesn't hurt to ask... One thing to understand, these suits need to fit TIGHT. some guys think tight is too small. Also understand that they should feel bad while standing up and better when crouched down in the race or riding position. Baggy or loose is WAY worse than anything as it will not allow the armor to stay where it needs to be and can move on impact...

You'd probably be a 52... Try a 52 on at a shop and see... Not to be a salesman, but here ya go... http://www.ohio-riders.net/showthread.php?t=20080 Has an aero hump and a MUCH better quality suit. Let me know...

I heard they also picked up Yamaha!

Better pics from today...

Just some 411... An STP 400 frame - same as this one in black with the Team Volkswagon stickers - sold for $400.00 yesterday... Willing to trade (plus cash, of course) for a Gary Fisher Paragon 29er 2007 or 2008 model. Possibly the Rig (2008 only)...

Gotcha on the 01 comment... My bad. As far as power goes, I can provide a bunch of dyno sheets to show the 07 has more power... As far as differences, on the street probably no, but any place where you can ride them hard? BIG difference. Night and day, really...
-
I read it right - he says the 09 is updated and will be top dog. I tend to agree. However, he stated they haven't updated since 2001 for the most part and I was wondering WTF he was thinking...
-
Huh? The power is greater on the 07/08s. Maybe not stock in terms of that stupid dual exhaust, but in results once tuned, the 07 is better... Again, you stated that the GSXR hasn't been updated since 01. I'm just wondering when you hit your head and thought that was truth? The difference between the 05/06 and 07/08 go beyond some bolt on items you listed. Chasis is better on the 07, handling is better on the 07, power is better on the 07, etc. That's an advancement not even worth mentioning when you refer to the 04s and earlier...

In terms of motorcycle shops, they are bigger than anyone near or around this area. You can get into Miami, FL, maybe in Alabama and then have to go out West to find shops that are bigger... For the most part, as a company, they are larger than anyone else... Outside what I mentioned... Now as far as companies go, sure. But realize that I think Flounder is saying that Pony is like Kroger - they are huge in the area and even the region. They don't need to provide any OR discount. That's not being mean or anything, but they aren't like some smaller shops that need the advertising to help out. In CBus especially, there isn't anyone better or bigger...

You cannot evaluate WSBK as a platform to which bike is best. Look at AMA and tell me why Ducati and Yamaha cannot get it right. Why did Honda win WSBK and over here they suck tit. Same goes for Clug racing. At the WERA National Level, Yamaha and Suzuki are the choice. Suzuki fills more grid spots than any other sportbike period... Take what the Euro mags say is good. Take and add the racing arena and how they do. Take into account what you like best. Bingo - your answer...
-
Uh, have you ever ridden any of the 05/06s and 07/08s? I'd say Suzuki has done more than update. The 07/08 is head and shoulders above the 05/06. Let alone the 01... I think the 09 GSXR is going to be great, as well, but that R1 is looking pretty tough to beat.
