Exception noted... how'd they do on those brake calipers???
-
Yeah because stunters actually do things that aggressive street and track day guys do. Next time, ask for Justin. He's got track knowledge and even Kyle does. They can tell you what is best for you. Brands are somewhat exclusive to certain people. Some think Brdigestone is better than most. Some think Michelin, some Pirelli, etc. Get what works for you, but in the end, the three top dogs are Dunlop, Michelin and Pirelli... Stunters like Shinko because they are cheap and wear decent for what they do. Take a set of those to a track day or go aggressive street riding at your favorite winding road? Make sure you have your insurance up to date...

No, but considering it is probably one of those cool show bikes, I understand why he put them on. The OP was looking for street tires and N Tecs are a poor choice... No matter what the bike is...

TENTATIVELY SOLD!!! Alright guys, buddy got this suit and thought he could be as cool as me and get the white. Problem is he's faster than me and I don't need a faster than me buddy looking as good as me doing it. Just kidding. All joking aside, he doesn't like the white and wants the black. I cannot return this suit so, I need to sell it. Here's what it is: 2009 SHIFT Vertex Race Suit. WHITE - Men's size 42/52. -1.2-1.4mm Premium grain leather -Aggressive articulation for comfort in the race position -Removable CE armor throughout -Schoeller stretch Kevlar panels -X Stretch crotch panel for unrestricted movement -2 layers of leather in key impact areas -Aero hump -Shoulder vents and exhaust ports for maximal cooling and air flow -Perforated front panels for cooling -Washable/removable mesh liner Overall, this is a great suit. SHIFT has made a lot of changes from the SR1 style suit to this one. They took a lot of our input and made the suit reflect what riders wanted. I can say that it is much more aggressive in terms of articulation than the SR1 was. I also think it fits much better and although it initially feels tighter, it is because a good suit needs to be tight and not baggy/loose. Comfort is when you are on the bike and as discussed before, standing up in this thing will make you squeal! Here's some stock pics:

Again, for like $10-$12 at a Yamaha dealer, you can turn your GSXR 1/4 throttle tube into an 1/8 or 3/16 and not have zip tyes and screws and putty in your throttle housing... Might be cool for the street kids, but any of you track day guys (where this mod even makes sense) doing the home made version, send me your throttle tube and I will make you one. Send me $12 and I'll toss your stock one over my shoulder and buy one from the Yamaha dealer... I'll include a free grip as well!

Yup, you get what you pay for. The drag racers like the Shinkos, though. That's about all of who like them. It's like saying the Pirelli guy went to work for Continental. So, Contis are just as good as Pirellis, right? Yeah...

Uh, poor choice for a street tire...

But you think he's a cunt, right? Gotta love Todd's avatars. We need the bunny back, though!!

Few things I am taking from this. 1) PLEASE DO NOT FLAME ME - How is this a chauvinistic thing? You are implying by the thread that they were disrespecting you because you were a girl. Where in any of the story was that shown? Could it be they are just idiots and act like idiots all the time? I just feel a little compelled to say they might not deserve you implying it was because you were a girl... Now, onto CS... 1) Mitch is an idiot. He needs either fired or put into the wash bay to clean bikes. He has called to apologized, the owner is on a public forum apologizing for Mitch's actions and in doing so, confirms that Mitch was wrong and went overboard. This is something that needs to be addressed and taken care of. There are PLENTY of good salesman and women out there that can act professionally and avoid the pitfalls that many inexperienced sales people fall into. 2) The OTD comment is so freakin' out of hand that I laughed and wondered how a shop can even make it sound like it is a joke. In today's market, there are a LOT of hidden fees. There are GREAT deals being advertised only to come and find out that the total price out the door was almost twice the amount advertised. Sure, Doc fees and license fees and tax are to be included, but it doesn't take a Rocket Scientist to understand that those fees shouldn't be the same amount as the unit price. OTD questions are legit and should be responded to in a manner that makes sense. The ONLY additional amounts that can be added to an actual OTD price is based on insurance, warranty, etc. You can give them an OTD price and it should include unit cost, set-up and shipping (BS fees), Doc and related fees, and tax. That's pretty basic and easy to get to a customer asking a price. You can then inform them that fees can be in addition to the OTD if they choose the warranty, insurance, etc. You making light of this and allowing your employees to not understand it is not something that should be tolerated by yourself and especially the customers. 3) Customers are to be treated with respect. Getting to know your customers is rule number one for ANY salesman. If they grow to learn and befriend a customer, the sales person can maybe relax a bit and be less robotic, but they need to be professional at all times. No excuses. The fact that you apologized and Mitch did, as well means that it is seen as a mistake. Take care of it. There's WAY too many people on here that have negative things to say about you guys from now customer service to too high of prices for the bikes you have. The discount you use on here should by no means be to the point stuff is free, but if you use it to simply persuade customers to come in and they can get a better deal if they don't mention the OR deal, then what good is it to allow you to advertise on here? What good is it to waste your money in doing it? The list you provide is entirely up to you. However, don't make it sound like a special when people who aren't members can get a better deal... 4) I'd avoid coming onto a public site and apologizing. In doing so, you are admitting guilt and admitting wrong doing occurred. That looks bad to potential customers. I think the chauvinistic comments are unfair, but I think the way you treated the customer was wrong. Now, with you coming on and essentially saying you did do these things and that the employees were doing what she stated and yet you seemingly think it was taken out of context is not good for business. Do it all side bar and off line. It's better for you and the business as a whole. The bottom line is that people will always complain even if they aren't in the right. Happens everyday. You only hear complaints about shops and never the good. Look at the posts. More negatives for shops than applauds for shops... That being said, you can handle the issues that need addressed in a manner needed off line. No emails, no PMs, but with a phone call or a face to face if they come back. It's business 101 stuff... Good luck and I think the OP has merit to being upset. I think you guys have made some errors and hopefully, they are taken care of. I know the employees at MOC were regarded as not so great and to hire a guy from there doesn't bode well. Especially when he is the center of a now public issue...

It's an industry only show. You need to be a dealer or an employee for a shop to get in. A lot of "friends" get in by having their shop spice up employees for the show itself. Eric- I'm actually not planning on coming this year. The company (like a lot of others) feels it isn't worth the money. It's at the wrong time of year and we used to write business there years ago. Now? It's a party show and nothing is ever generated in terms of money or orders... I might come and walk it. Might hook up with Reuben and you to just hang, but after 15 years of going, it is somewhat boring to me... But, not having to work at it like the last 9 years, it might be cool to walk around...

When the new R1 came out and was being sold over retail (remeber that?), we had a kid take it out and got 3 miles. Yes, 3 miles. Looped it (obviously ham fisted it and looped it) and totalled the bike. He paid something like $3k over retail. I can't remember what we sold it for exactly. Tough lesson...

Oh, and these guys getting discounts? You can sign up and do the same thing they are. Basically, it isn't dealer cost or anything and if you befriend a buddy at a local shop, you can get a better discount than what these sites offer their "reps". They aren't reps in the true sense of the word and only get a discount based on the hope they refer people. Do some leg work, get friends with some guys that know dealerships or actual industry reps and you can benefit better...

I think you were also looking at the RC-1 suit, as well. Two TOTALLY different suits. I'd prefer the RC-1 over the CR, but a few things. The RC-1 has external armor. I really hate that sue to if you crash, it's expensive to fix it if the armor is external. You are looking at a broad range on price, as well. $700-$1000 has a LOT of different suit options. I like AStar better than most other suit companies, but there are some better ones out there. Check out STG's site and review what they sell. They typically do a video for a lot of products and you can learn a ton about the different suits they sell. I think the one from Knee Draggers is a close out or discontinued 700 series. It isn't listed on any of the sites I found and certainly isn't in the new catalog released by Scorpion... I like the 700. For the money, it's a great helmet. I'd say if you are budget concious, it's the best choice... Personally, I only like AStar's top end boot. For the money, I think you're better off with the TCX boot. Spend $50 more and get a WAY better boot. I have been looking at three different boots. I have a contact inside Sidi and I still won't wear the new boots they offer. That cable deal is crap and breaks all the time... Pumas are cool, but they break components and they are hard to get parts. Heavy, too. The AStar SMX Plus is all I'd wear... The TCX boot line is really good. In your area of price you hint at, I'd spend the extra coin and get the Competizone S for $275. I'm probably going for the RS, myself... Good glove. Not a whole lot of bad AStar gloves, at all. Stay away from JR gloves, and some others out there... I think it is all how they feel. I hate bulky gloves and AStar has some of the best gloves I have ever worn or tried on... The back protector is something you need. Don't wait until you get your suit. Suit back protectors are minimal and usually, they have been cut from being supplied from some companies because they know a lot of track guys and racers wear seperate back protectors. I like the Knox Aegis, myself, but what can I say? I wear a dainese I got back in 2000!! I have a couple of others I have tried, but the Dainese fits me best... I like Dainese because it is basic and uses plastic armor for protection. I'm not sold on honeycomb that can be damaged after one hit and needing replaced. AStar has some really good ones, as well...

A good suit is designed to be in the "attack position" or as you would be riding the bike aggressively while on the machine. Arms are articulated and the legs, as well. VERY uncomfortable when trying to stand straight up and down... The nuggets hate race suits...

I'll take it. Send better pics to me, if you can. PM coming with email...

Try the WERA board, too. www.wera.com You can also go to Ebay and do a Buy It Now for $250. That's a steal of a jacket.

Ohio Riders Official Lap Time Leaderboard
Moto-Brian replied to natedogg624's topic in Track is Crack
If you want goals, go to MyLaps and search the WERA races for the tracks you will be racing and go from there... Not from a site where a majority are posted laps based on what a guy stated his lap timer listed... Like stated, a guy can say whatever time they want within reason and you'd never know any different. That is until you ride with the guy and find out there's no way... Happens a LOT with us at STT. Guys say they run a set time at certain tracks (and amazingly enough leave the track you are riding out of the conversation) and when you ride with them, you realize that even if they ride that "other" track 50 times a year, the way they ride and the way they handle their machine, it is impossible that they'd run such times. Again, this is pure fish story telling... -

You just now figured that out? I think it needs nuked. It's really dumb to try and sort through hearsay more than anything... -
Ohio Riders Official Lap Time Leaderboard
Moto-Brian replied to natedogg624's topic in Track is Crack
Probably because they read my post saying you did a 1:06... Dude, it's like everyone on here saying they have set times. Thing is, MyLaps is the only way to prove a time. Unfortunately for me, they didn't have that when I raced until I ran some events in 2005... -
Only In Japan: Crazy Ferrari-Badged Suzuki Hayabusa Trike
Moto-Brian replied to Disclaimer's topic in Pics and Vids
Wow. I think I threw up in my mouth a little over that disgrace of a bike. It's bad enough it is a trike let alone a Ferrari F1 trike. Sweet 8lb baby Jesus that's ugly... -

Actually, that 1:08 at Nelson was when I was behind you trying to get a tow. I think you hit 1:06s easily enough when you went by so fast. So, Justin needs to be at the top of the list at a 1:06 for Nelson. -
Had a kid last year at Mid-Ohio have a simple low side. Typical and a deal that any other bike would have made it through fine. Broke the frame right at the weld. There's an undeniable issue most likely in design vs. welding... Whatever you wish to call it, it isn't due to abuse most the time. There's an issue and Suzuki has decided to do something about it.

Again, mis information. Honda factory support will be given to either Corona or Erion in SB. There will be no offical factory branded team like years prior. It's still going to support a team - just not having one themselves...
-
Uh, where did you think that Honda wasn't going to do MotoGP? Honda is still there and in full force. Hayden was smart to get out of Honda when he did... Oh, and Todd, with privateer teams now riding Kaws, I am willing to bet the overall results look the same as if they had Hopper on them anyways. He was only riding Kaws for the money...

I've had the honor of helping with some great Sports Marketing guys from different companies I have been with, have helped with some pro racers and hung out on a personal level with some well known racers, too. I've also been running a pretty good grass roots marketing campaign although this year's cuts have worked against me... I also have a group of dealers I work with that are some of the best in the Eastern US. The companies I have worked for have allowed for some really cool things to happen and to be a part of. A LOT of inside stuff that is never seen from the general public's point of view. Nothing stealthy or shadey - just stuff that most people never hear about until a LOT later... The company I am with now is not hiring and have actually made a lot of cuts and we remaining guys are picking up a lot of slack. I now have some really cool shops and people I will be working with, but it is going to absorb a LOT of time... It is a great deal and I have been blessed to race, work and interact within the motorcycle industry for over 15 years...
