  1. Whoa. It's all I'm gonna say. Well... maybe not... I've touched base with a few guys and actually have a new found faith that people on threads or websites with forums aren't all dumbasses or dousche bags. There's actually some folks I think are stand up and good people after a bit of arguing. I think that's cool. BUT, there's always a few bad eggs out there that just can't let things go and see what the BIG picture is as opposed to disecting every small particle in an effort to support their causes. So, in the end, I think I understand more about a few people on here and have feelings that they are good folks. Others, however, still have me scratching my head in wonder. Maybe they'll eventually get it figured out and when they do, we can all sit back and laugh. To those I've talked with via PMs or posts - Cheers to you all and let's call it good.
  2. Be smooth and consistant. Get with ANY of the instructors and ask a shit pile of questions. We all started where you are going to and know what questions we had. If you go in and do it with doubt or questions and you don't ask, you won't learn and take away valuable info that will make you better. Welcome to track days!
  3. Wow... Seeing that Zero is what, the financial manager at HNW, I expected a little more professionalism and less childhood BS. But, considering if he's who I think he is and the fact that I've taken care of him when he needed something, I guess I see where people sit when it comes to being appreciative. I may be wrong and he is just a regular Joe at HNW, but still... Oh, well... I'll try and explain and give reasonings here as many of the guys chiming in are those who probably believe in the ways I go against... First, there are a LOT of people who come to sites like this hoping to find answers. They look at post counts, look at titles, look at if you are a "supporter", etc. to decide whether that person responding and starting threads is a legit and informative individual. A lot of times, they are one dimensional and lack deep experience in the subject yet feel the need to reply as if they are 100% experienced and well knowing of the topic at hand. My problem is that I do have a lot of experience. Much is bad and much is probably worthless and pointless, but it is experience. I have never expressed I know it all. I also have never said I was better or best when compared to others. I use what knowledge I have and experience I have been a part of to support what I say. Take the $200 for a used PC. I used the Ebay link to support why I felt $200 used was too high. Someone can get a new in the box system for $70 more. Maybe to some, $70 is a huge savings and is worth buying used. However, what I did was plant a seed in someone's mind hopefully to let them know there are choices. What really is something is when I tell you how long I have been doing this. The people I have had the honor of being around, the sports marketing departments I have been a part of and meeting those who I have had as heroes, but have been friends with due to my job, and finally, the companies I have worked for that are leaders in certain fields of our sport of motorcycle riding and racing... I also like to argue to understand and learn. I make comments that are within my responses that actually support folks at times that I "argue" with. Those never seem to get read or quoted. Arguing allows us to learn. If you argue, you need to have facts to help support your response. If you do not, you look silly and are visibly shown as really not a good choice for such info... Thus, weeds out those who are really less experienced and those who are solely basing their statements on opinion over a small amount of time put into it. The poll here is a funny one. I'd appreciate it if it were taken down, but it also allows me to show others just how childish people are when stood up against. I ruffle feathers of those with weak dispositions and those who lack the knowledge to stand up and actually support what they say. It's easy for someone to get upset and be a kid and act out like this poll to supposedly prove a point to others that they are king of the hill and can never be slapped around. Otherwise, you will brunt their anger by having to read a poorly organized retort... "Take that".... I'm secure in what I do and how I act. I really try and help those who ask for it. I try and take that experience I have collected and try and give out good info to those asking. Real world info... Too many of you guys get hung up on the race background. What you don't realize is that the background is like racing in general. The stuff we learn racing trickles down to the street guys and their machines... So, it is a direct link to what sometimes happens before it hits the streets... The CBR600RR (2005-2006) comment about the bike being less desired machine. That comment was based on the fact that there are more 600s from other manufacturers that are more desired on the standpoint of a few things. Parts in the aftermarket. CBR600s (until the reinvented 2007) are not the first to get parts made for them. Think GSXR, R6, etc. Simple stuff like that is sometimes tough to take when you own one, but in reality, it is sometimes not so. The CBR600RR is a good bike. I never stated it sucked, it was a pile of shit, only girls ride them, etc. I stated it was less desired in terms of comparing it to the other 600s. The Kawasaki ZX6 isn't the most sought after 600, either. I love Kaws. I wish they were because they are great machines... Point is simple. I try and not let my feelings get in the way of an argument. You may think I do not accept when I am wrong or cannot accept another person's opinion. I can. I have. If I am wrong, I will admit it. However, you must prove your point, too. Remember one thing - arguments are two sided. If I don't stand down, it is because the other/s do not, as well... In the end, you guys can have some fun at my expense. Sorry I offend you guys out there. I'm a pretty good guy in person, I think. At least I have a lot of folks who are either being completely lied to or bambozzled or I have a decent network of friends out there...
  4. Well noted. I do sometimes get a little over the top on responses. Sorry. But, what I do try and do is limit the name calling and BS shit like Zero did with the thread he started. I did mention he had some cool parts. I also tried to understand him better by asking if he was saying he had $11k invested, etc. I was trying, but he started with all the grade school retorts so, I fired back. I'm not going to sit and take comments that are based on hate rather than facts... I'll leave it to you all to sort out. Good luck...
  5. Considering that you are a "fabricator", you then go and say that the RS-5 is not entry level. Yeah, good one. Let's stop with the BS name calling, cool? You're pretty tough behind the keyboard and you may have others fooled into you being such a savy bike guy, but honestly, the shit you got on your bike isn't uber rare. I was willing to point out they were cool, but honestly, after the name calling and shit, I think I'll have some fun... See, I know you think you know it all and I seldomly brag, but in your case, I'll make an exception. I've been racing for 14 years and am in the industry itself. The exhaust you have is entry level. I just hope you are touting a full Ti system and not the SS one... Now, if you take and actually research systems for your bike, you'll see that Arrow, Leo, Akra, etc. are considered premium systems and will pull the best results in terms of power for most machines. Of course, you probably know that, right. So, saying you have a premium system isn't really correct. Maybe mid-level at best, but considering the one off stuff that can be had from Yosh direct (need one? I can make a call), that's not their top shelf item. It's readily available via Parts or similar avenues and pretty common, also... Again, most "common" parts are usually 1/2 of what they were at retail. Say a $1800 full system is available. Usually, they ask for at most, $1k. Pretty common. 1/2 was a starting point and from there, based on condition (we're going by your word), it can be worth more. Again, in all of this, you are asking for opinions. You even did the gay poll deal. As far as the CF parts, sure. You can get more if they are so rare, but honestly, you are either selling it at what I stated or you really didn't pay as much as you said... I can get that system for about $600 new... Maybe at most $700, but you get the idea... That's too much. Here's $269 all day long. I can get it cheaper than this, too...http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/05-06-CBR-600RR-DYNOJET-POWER-COMMANDER-PC-III-3-USB_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1638Q2em118Q2el1247QQcategoryZ35597QQihZ017QQitemZ270238656311QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V But, I'm an idiot... The wheels are forged. I know what you have. They are used and again, the wheels are worth about $1k used. Maybe get $300 more for the tires and all, but no more than $1500 for the set-up... You can grab them for about $1800... How are they special made? Do you have some sort of documentation that says they are "special" as opposed to what the general public can get? Well, that was well stated. Maybe do us a favor and not post a thread asking for opinions. Were you looking for "OOOHs" and "AHHHHHs" over what you have? I think it is strange all together...
  6. Do you have Norton as a set-up for your firewall? If so, try and disable the firewall... That helped me...
  7. Uh, ok... Where was I bashing? Really. Point it out. He asked a community of riders what he should do. I gave my opinion. He's apparently really smart and yet confused because he's argued on two different fronts. But, you and he can have a grand ol' time of spooning and butt fingering with each others' Hondas and tell each other how cool the other is. If you all buy those parts at the prices listed, you'll note I thought they were in the ball park. I can say I've sold ANYTHING at any price at any time. We're all professionals on any site we attend. At least in our own mind... Anyways, good luck. You'll probably get $6500 in stock trim if it is in primo condition. The point was selling it with parts or whatnot. Apparently, I am the one not getting the point across. By the way, how rare is Carbon fiber bodywork? I see it all the time. The rims he has? Pretty easy to find. Are you guys talking for 600RRs? Is that the rareness of them? For kicks, here's some of the best bodywork you can buy in this country: http://www.oppracing.com/bodywork/type/33-600/#307 I know, I have some...
  8. I think I understand... Basically, you are saying you have $11k invested and would ask about $7500 for everything. Sounds fair enough... I think.
  9. Man, didn't know it was his birthday. Let's just say he's getting some really tastey treats for his ride today. Must be a BDay gift to himself!! When he gets these one, his bike is gonna look badass...
  10. Oh, and thinking you can get $11k for a street 600 is out there. The wheels are pretty much all the bike has. CF parts are cool, but don't add anything to the price really. What you need to consider is that one, when adding a bunch of parts for simple bling factor, you tend to NEVER get close to what you have in your bike when you go to sell it. Dealers are pretty much going to look at the NADA Average Trade value and MAYBE allow a bit more with what you have on the bike, but not much. As far as price goes, CBR600RRs are going for about $6k to $6500 in minty fresh condition... Not a popular bike, either so you need to take that into account. The thing is, really all you have in terms of extra is the wheel set. I think asking $7500 as it sits is more than fair. The wheels and such are worth an additional $1k over higher retail value. The other stuff? Not worth much at all... Trade value? Probably looking at $4500-$5500 and maybe more on a newer bike... With EVERYTHING including the wheels. Your best bet is to part it out and sell the components online. You'll still be looking at getting maybe 1/2 of what retail is for the items so... Common items that most guys do or that really do not "add" to your price: -PC. Everyone with an exhaust has one. -Yosh system. Entry level exhaust and the most common. Not a Leo or Akra, Arrow, etc... -Pazzo levers. Not as common, but serve no real function to a street rider other than bling... -Velocity stacks and BMC. Pretty standard stuff. Again, not an addition like say having motor work or your wheel set, etc... I'd say the CF goodies like the tail section, fenders, lower, etc are pretty cool, but many guys will think you crashed the bike and replaced those items. You're most likely better off to sell them and put the OEM stuff back on. You could do the hugger and fender, but the mirrors, tail and lower are things that would make me think you low sided it or something and with the levers replaced, it makes it even more of a thought... As far as two up on the CBR1000 - your GF obviously hasn't seen the rear seat on the 1K... It is by no means passenger friendly...
  11. At 111 RWHP, you certainly haven't got the most out of your bike. Based on simple and mid line bolt ons? Probably... Want more and want to spend only $1000-$1500? You can do a full on Supersport build that will be dependable and effective. You'll need to consider a better exhaust, but overall gains will be much more noticed... However, a CBR1000 (08) is a killer bike and definately more than you'll ever need. Let me ask this - are you able to overide your 600?
  12. TIRES: I have three sets of Michelin Pilot Races with a PRC front. The sizes are 120 fronts with 190/55 rears. The PRC is the triangulated front Michelin sells and is pretty tough to come by. The rears are the Medium compound and great for bigger bikes. The three sets I have are fairly worn on the edges, but absolutley great in the centers and middles. Two sets are somewhat worn more and would like to see $100 for them. The one set really could have been left on, but I decided to change them out. I change sets - not fronts, rears only... Anyways, would like $150 for these. I will have another set by the weekend of the 25th that's even better, but until then... I also have some misc. Pirelli fronts in 120s. Let me know. I'm thinking $30 each. I have a Dunlop, too... Vesrah Brake pads: -Vesrah SUPERS for the GSXR 600/750 2000-2003. Fits other bikes, as well, but they were for these years of GSXRs. Damn near new. SUPERS last forever and these were used for two weekends and then I'd swap them out. Retail for $150 a set. $30 -Vesrah RJLs. Have like 2 races on them. Again, each weekend, we'd change pads on the RJLs. Would make a great set for a track day person. Hell, I'd use them for myself if they'd fit my bike. Again, for the 2000-2003 GSXR 600/750s. Retail for $85 a set, I think. $25 BUY BOTH SETS and I will sell them for $45... -Vesrah RJLs for a ZX6R 1998-2002. Also fits GSXRs from 96-00. BRAND NEW in the package. Never used... Retail is like $85 a set, sell for $40
  13. Again, not trying tp oversell or bash the other guy's bike but, consider these things: 1) The bike you are looking at is stock suspended. It'll need addressed as soon as a few events should you become decent. Plus, it'll cause you to be limited in what you can do. I have a Penske triple that is fresh and forks with 25mm inserts. That's almost $3k in suspension alone... 2) The bike I have can come with a rear stand free. I can't give you a front one, but you'd be set on a rear. 3) The bike you're looking at is a stock motor and while probably ok, will most likely be a tired old soul. 3k track miles is time for a refresh... That's at least a grand... I'd wager that by end of next year, you'll have dumped over $2k in that machine just to keep it up to par. If you do suspension and buy it on the cheap, you'll be at about $1500 and that's being generous. Just think it through. Buying a previously set-up bike is fine, but there are a ton more better choices out there. If you want $3-$4k, I'd buy an R6 in that year. The GSXR600 is a turd... Plus, there are a lot of R6 parts out there in case. If you really don't care and just want a bike, the plus side is that they have a shit pile of parts for 01-05 GSXR600s out there...
  14. Dude, that thing has been at a few track events we have been to. It is pretty beat and rough. I'll sell you mine for $6k with no spares and OEM rotors. I know it is $1500 more, but trust me on this - it's worth every cent. I'll throw in a few small things like levers, etc and even a few take-offs, but for $6k and what I got, it's a deal...
  15. Again, the issue with the pros is safety in wet conditions at Mid-Ohio. Nelson is really not an issue for just one reason. The track is unsafe because of track surface, run-off (Lack of), ruts in the grass areas, and simply - it is run down and a pile... There's no petition signed by riders anywhere or one that even exists. Don't be starting rumors. The pro riders from the factories and satellite teams have all come together and decided to not run there if it is a wet race. It isn't like a petition that is signed to keep smoking in a bar... Nelson sucks and Mid-O sucks. Both for VERY different reasons. Mid-O is one of the best tracks on the Eastern side of the US, but needs some issues addressed before it can be exceptional...
  16. Now, they will charge a lower price on certain items via the site vs. the store. It's a matter of convenience actually. You buy from the internet out of ease and if you go to the store, you pay slightly more, but get it today. It's the same at Burts, Chap, Cycle Gear, etc...
  17. As far as the helmet, it retailed for $419 full boat. Not sure how you were quoted at $500 OTD with tax, but Iron Pony has them at $377 as does all the other big internet players I looked at. $77 cheaper at $300 isn't even close to 50% or 40%... HJC is distributed by three distributors - Castle, Helmet House and Sullivans. I don't think any of them have a Retail Standards established as to what dealers can advertise prices at. The jacket on the other hand is everywhere at $450. Even Pony. To get it at $300 shipped, it could have been a one off deal where they sold it and had to change the prices once Parts Unlimited caught it. I know Icon/Parts Unlimited has a Retail Standards agreement that states you cannot discount Icon products unless non current... This jacket: http://www.ironpony.com/ironponydirect/product.asp/ImageName/ICON-RETRO-BLACK.jpg/Brand/ICON/Class2/Jackets%20and%20Vests/Class3/Leather%20Jackets/Class1/ is apprently surrent as I found it nowhere for $300. Again, just pointing out facts so bad things are not spread that shouldn't be. This is how shit gets stirred up and people get bad reputations when not warranted. http://www.ironpony.com/ironponydirect/product.asp/ImageName/ICON-RETRO-BLACK.jpg/Brand/ICON/Class2/Jackets%20and%20Vests/Class3/Leather%20Jackets/Class1/
  18. Not at all. All I am trying to point out is when you try and argue a point, you need to be exact in what you are trying to prove. People like the Shark RS2 guy don't realize these lids are on sale and on closeout in all dealerships via the distributors. So, they aren't current and what IP has in stock may not be on sale like the internet stores have, but it is because they didn't buy into the close out inventory from TR, PU, etc... So, if you want to say IP sells stuff for more than anyone else on CURRENT stuff and not closeout stuff, make sure you know what you're talking about before you go and bash a shop with unfounded statements... A LOT of stuff is available from distributors at any time of the year on overstock inventory. Shark helmets are on closeout via at least two different big vendors and if an internet company buys into the closeouts, they'll sell them at their stAndard margins and yet be cheaper than a shop that has existing inventory from when they were NOT on closeout. Point is simple. If you want to compare current inventory, they are NOT more than anywhere else. Maybe 10% more as again - RETAIL STANDARD AGREEMENTS stae shops and internet companies CANNOT advertise cheaper than a set % below retail. In store, they can do whatever they want... So, current product, they are NOT 50%, 40%, 30%, etc more than what you find on the web. As far as closeout product, they could be as some inventory is from when it wasn't purchased at closeout prices or IP decided that the closeout prices weren't good enough to entertain and therefore don't buy in. But, overall, when speaking on closeouts, they have more inventory at a discounted price than even MJ USA who only buys 3 years or older inventory... I just hate when people bash when they have no clue. I get a little defensive because I am in the industry and know what goes on behind closed doors. Not saying I am an expert, but I don't fling out info that isn't correct...
  19. First, the jacket you were looking at couldn't have been current. Reason being is that Icon (Parts Unlimited) has an advertising policy that doesn't allow more than a 10% discount. So, not a current set of items with your examples on the jacket and helmet... I can guarantee they have Icon lids for cheaper than anywhere seeing they bought a bunch on closeout. Second, you're right, when I say they have about everything, I am referring to current crop machines that are popular rides. EX500s while cool, aren't what I'd call popular... Things like Gilles rear sets for an R6 is something you don't find "in stock" at most places. Marvic wheel sets for a GSXR, Leo full systems, etc... So, again, on current items outside violating advertising policies, they are as competitive or more competitive than anyone else. Now, some companies do not have advertising standards that need to be followed, but about any of the popular companies do. ASTar, Icon, Arai, Suomy, Fox, Oakley, etc... So, really, it is no different if you buy it at Motosport, Burt's, Pony, etc. The only thing you will pay more at Pony than the others on CURRENT product is sales tax. If you go internet over Pony for a measly 7% sales tax amount and use them as a fitting room only, they don't need your kind of business... If you are going to use an example, please tell us the style and such. Otherwise, again, it sounds like you are disgruntle and grumpy and not wanting to accept their success...
  20. Name one thing you can try on there and buy 50% off that is current product.
  21. You don't need the competition? Are you a dealership principle? If so, maybe you ought to ask why all the dealerships in town have essentially given up on accessories. Everyone thinks Iron Pony robs people because they sell a ton of stuff at retail. Thing is that they have almost half of their store with products they buy at prices no other shop in the region can. Stuff like $400 jackets from Tecknis that are being sold at $79. That's not ripping anyone off. Their mainline product is new and current and no need to discount at all. The beauty of IP is that they carry everything. I challenge any of you to go in to ANY store and get what you need in stock... The Yamaha thing makes sense. It's the Star accessories, the chemicals, the Yamaha branding, etc. that intrigues them. The bikes? Who in Ohio actually makes good money on bikes? Nobody. The way the system works, dealers don't make ANYTHING on bikes. The reason is due to dealerships that turn and burn units and give them away. It is a plague that has killed the market in Ohio... Outside that, I say that IP has shown it knows what it is doing. If they had a bunch of screw offs working for them and running the show, they'd be gone long before now. They know exactly what's going on, they know how shitty the market is in CBus and they know that thanks to piss poor shops in the area, they have a really good chance of setting a standard that others are not going to be able to meet. All I can say is that the nay sayers out there need to get passed opinions and look at the big picture. They've succeeded more than failed. The numbers show they know what is going on and their staff is some of the best around...
