Uh, the short track doesn't use any of the keyhole. Exit one, shut 'er down for that immediate right hander. It wasn't cancelled because of complaints - it was because of the cars the day of and after... Changes were too extensive and teh corner workers needed moved around. Why does everyone bitch about it anyways? I think it would be a challenge and certainly a new twist. Different is good. Oh, and Chris - if you are going fast enough, you trail brake for the chicane entrance.... and certainly for the entrance to the keyhole...

Flame away... Ok, on the street - 1000s will work better because you can be lazy. You have a TON of power when needed and such - wheelies, straight line, etc - sure... the question was handling differences... On the street, take your tightest winding road and THINK hard and long before you respond. Don't let ego and pride dictate what you say in response. In that environment where handling is key and VERY much noticeable, a 600 is easier to ride fast than a 1000. Hands down. New crop 600s are at the 110+ hp range. Easy power to deal with and yet, more than enough to rip through stuff. However, most street guys who ride 1000s are used to low end grunt. Being lazy on the rpms and such. They ride a 600 similarly and hate them. You need to rip the guts out of a 600 to get it where it is happiest. The 750 is the cat's meow for the street. I would wager damn near any dollar amount that I can get a guy to go faster on a 750 than he can on a 1000 through the same set of winding turns and twists. The 750 shares the 600's dimensions and almost the same weight. Think FX 600. With 125 plus hp on a 750, it falls shy by 25-30 hp to a 1000, but again, weight and ability to flop the bike around. A 750 cannot be ridden like a 600 as much, but it is close. You don't need to ring it's neck and yet, you cannot be as lazy as a 1000... Best handling: Street -600/750 1st place -1000 second. Track: Track is different. It combines an environment with a long straight typically and aggressive turns. A 1000 will ultimately run faster due to the straight line speed. However, a like skilled rider has a tough time going faster on a 1000 than they would a 600. Look at even the top pro times. 1000 SS machines are 3 seconds faster than the same rider on their 600. That's a point shown that the 1000 is something that can go faster, but if the track is more tight than long straights, the 600 times are closer. Same deal - handling was the topic. Turns 7-10 at Mid-Ohio. There isn't a guy that can say with any truth that a 1000 will rip through those turns faster than a 750 or even a 600. Look at split times. Time from the entrance of turn 8 up under the bridge and to the crest of 10. 600 times are most likely exactly the same if not faster. I can get times splits if need be, but I know for a fact that Drew can pull me on my 750 in the tighter stuff. Why? The 750 needs a little more finesse to rip through there as fast. Rear wheel hp prevents total twist of the wrist as compared to what you can do with a 600. Same holds true with a liter bike. Twist the throttle as hard as a 600 through those turns and you are a poster child for the high side... Guys will bicker and whine back and forth that it isn't true. Guys will say their new 2007 1000 is better than their 600 when their 600 was a 2002 or the last 600 they rode was over 2 years ago. The current 600s are pretty freakin amazing. Of course, you have to really ride them and it is no different than MX bikes. A newbie can go as fast on a 450 because they can be lazy. They go slower on a 250 because they really need to ring the 250's neck. Their ability prevents that and the bigger bike takes less effort to go as fast. Doesn't always mean bigger is better... Handling. That was the topic - not how fast, not how easy to ride wheelies, not how fast down the interstate. Handling. Thinking a 1000 is close to a 600 is retarded... Ride any given twisty road. Watch your times and speed. Do it first on the 1000. Next time through on a 600, it will be easier. Why? Handles easier - less input. Nuff said. Carry on.

You can charge whatever you want outside what the State says are limited. Certain fees associated with documentation and whatnot are capped. They also are being pursued and made an EXAMPLE of because they were always hiding fees and being VERY deceptive. It's about time. We've known about this and a couple of other legal issues they are facing...

No, Carr knows suspension - Reuben knows SS builds. Reuben knows both, but I guess even Reuben says Carr knows a little more than even he does. That amazes me, but I guess it can be true. You can call me or I can PM you as to an idea as what they do. I just don't like sharing that info via the internet. Too many people think they know and they have no clue. It goes pretty basic in terms of the usual deal - Head work, motor case work, crank work, etc. It's pretty damn involved. I did my 2002 GSXR750 with my friend who built all of our Kawasakis and is regarded well for an engine builder. It was VERY involved and to be honest, I will probably never build one again. I'll let Reuben or Tracy do it. Drop it off, pay for the parts and MAYBE help out a little. But, paying them to do it is easy. I just don't have time...

LOADS of stuff... Basically, it is a crank up rebuild and massage of parts, motor, etc. Some fancy tricks that most techs won't share, but nuts and bolts are to loosen up the crank, do some mil and decking work, and some other sorted bits and pieces... I can tell ya, but I'd have to kill you.

I only have 138-139 on pump gas... Now, I go and put in U4, I am wheelies all day out of turn one. Yes, one...
-
I suspect a true SS build. Bottom up... It'll be pretty good - probably in the 120 range rear wheel... Now, I guess I have to use the entire pull of the throttle on the back straight!!! No more half throttle to stay behind or let you stay closer!!! HA!!!!!!!!!!!

Watch www.sportbiketracktime.com and join up and look at the schedule. I know that Mid-Ohio has a TENTATIVE schedule up as stated in the thread, but you can join the forum at STT and ask away. Since you are a "noob" as you put it, join a Novice group and try and get a 2 day event in. That way, you get the most bang for your buck and you'll get the nerves settled for the second day so you can have a ton of fun. Just find an instructor like Drew (Owndjoo) and myself and we will be more than willing to help!!

Remember, guys... There's no one perfect way to hang off or riding style. Sure, the basics like getting your ass off, typical body positioning, etc. However, just because some guys drag an elbow, doesn't make them faster than a guy who doesn't. Mladin is as fast as Spies, right? Maybe not all the time, but the win record he has makes it a valid argument. Spies is fast too. Spies is an elbow out and down kinda guy - Mladin isn't. You can take the top 5 guys in MotoGP and figure they are probably the fastest guys currently to ride these types of machines. Vale's style is different than Stoner's who's is different than Danny's, etc., etc., etc. Ride to where it is comfortable for you. Once there, work forward and quit trying to copy someone simply because it looks cool or seems to look the way it should. Get the style that is suited to you. If you need more work - ass off more, elbows more in a relaxed position, knees out more, etc. - those are small tidbits you can work on or an instructor can catch and help you with. It's like religion - you cannot force it upon someone else. You do what you think is right and then we can expand from there. Some don't ever get it so, don't be pissed if you suck and there's no help. Some people just plain can't get it and won't. Life. Carry on...

Hot pit. The wall where the AMA teams are usually up against. Every 20 feet or so there is a junction box with 2-4 outlets... Generators need to be on LONG cords to put well away from the pit area. Guys don't get this idea...
-
I think the street guys will get good exhausts on there, murder those hideaous mirrors and do some cool shit to them. I think in person, you'll be a little more happy - especially if you can imagine those items off or fixed...

There's that "your" needing to be "you're"... Why do you want a 50 tooth rear? For Mid-Ohio, I am using 15/45. I will check 100% on my notes, but a 50 is too much. I may have a new 50 lying around that I never will use. I'll check, but you really need to be in that 44-48 range. Depending on your corner speed, you can compensate for lack of with more rear teeth, but you don't need 5 more than what most of us use... I also have notes on about every damn track as to gearing and set-up for that pile of yours and what I have. Those damn 05s were shit, huh? -
I gots a Geny for sale!!! No garage is because we'll pit off hot pit lane. There will be either cars sharing part of the day (1st half usually) and then returing the next day and they get garage priority. Always been that way. I'm serious about the generator for sale... BUT, you can access outlets on hot pit, too. No charge.

How's that parts cleaner coming? -
Wait until they add paint. Even in raw form, they look kinda killer: http://www.superbikeplanet.com/image/2007/usa-superbike/tiretest/2/SatDayTest026.htm

Send me a tracking number or delivery confirmation number. I'd hate to receive it at the Post Office. Is that with or without your ballet shoes?

I can send you some pics, but like Flounder stated - just google the item. I got it from Lockhart so, look in the catalog. It's brand new - even the cord hasn't been untied... Let me know if you cannot find info. I'll be in there next Friday...
