Their surge calculator is making a worst-case-scenario assumption that your fridge compressor will kick on at the exact same moment as all your other high-draw power needs. That is the way to be safe and sure, but I have run my fridge and several other low draw appliances on less that that calculator claims is required. Just let the fridge run on its own for a bit. Once it has done the hard work of getting cooled down, other alliances will barely flicker when the fridge compressor kicks on.

You could find a cheaper track than mid Ohio, but building confidence is one of the primary goals with the novice group, regardless of what bike you're on. I learned new respect for sport touring tires my first day.

The wife's car has started to stutter in first gear. I was thinking dirty fuel injector, but I have confirmed that this is only happening in first gear. It seems to go away once the car is warmer, but I am worries it's a transmission issue, given that its only first gear. Any ideas?

Hoblik would have sold you everything but the 450 a few months ago... Prepped CRF's are not easy to find, but the 16" front wheel is the only real expense. I also have a set of tires (with tubes) for $40. Pirelli ML75's. I turned high :58's on them at Circleville in the endurance race. My teammate dipped into the :57's. The top 5 guys are running BT45's and a Couple of them have broken into the :55's. :55's are more common.

I have no intention of debating this topic, but what kind of tires are you using that aren't curved? ;-)

They have run the same configuration at mid Ohio both times I've been there for AMA rounds. I wasn't defending the bikes so much as pointing how how capable a bad bike can be in the right hands. It is anything but slow. If anything, the fact that they're dragging pegs and chattering the front en in every turn makes it look faster than it is.

I'm watching slalom skiing, and these guys show exactly how a motorcycle steers. Their heads and shoulders are relatively stationary, but they throw their skis out from under themselves, to the right to turn left, and to the left to turn right. That's exactly how a motorcycle works too. You don't turn left, you turn right to push the wheels out from under the bike, and make the bike fall left.

And whomever said the HD XR1200 class was "entertaining, but slow" (or something to that effect) needs to look at the lap times. I am quite confident that only a handful of the most skilled riders on this forum can match the XR1200 lap times at Mid-Ohio on their modern supersport 600, or hell, even on a 1000.

I can't wait until MJ and TallTracy grow up so they can get a real man's bike too.

A guy on KatRiders.com has a ratted out 750 that weighs less than his stock 600. He cut the sub-frame behind the seat, but other than that, I'm copying a lot of his ideas. the fairings, gauges, headlight, and center stand should net a 30 lbs. loss pretty easily. That's factoring in the weight of the replacement light and gauges.

that's another consideration as well. I raised the rear on my EX500, and the center stand would have the rear wheel still sitting on the ground at full extension. I wouldn't mind raising the rear of the Katana a tad either.

for some reason I was thinking 232 was the automatic number, and the manual was more like 270. Guess that was wishful thinking.

I don't have time to read the full opinion now, but the Supreme Court of the United States has a long history of shitting on 9th Circuit opinions. Even if they agree with the ultimate decision, the SCOTUS tends to pick apart the 9th Circuit's logic, and then rationalize it their own way.

Transfer to Cleveland Marshall, or marry a rich girl. Or both, if you want to keep racing bikes.

let me ask some friends if they know any younger attorneys in Columbus. legal services do not have to cost an unreasonable amount, but firms carry a TON of overhead. A sole practitioner with even a year of experience can handle most simple litigation tasks. If the OP's version of the facts is complete and accurate, I would deem this legally "simple." What I'm saying is that this may cost a thousand dollars to resolve rather than several thousand. that's largely depended upon finding the right attorney, with enough experience and time to handle it properly.
