  1. I'm going to talk to kent and Brian about promoting OMRL at bike nights, and possibly the IMS. Depending on costs, we might have to approach another TD or race org about splitting a booth. But yes, everyone should come out and try it. The dollar to fun ratio is off the charts!
  2. My uncle gave me a brick of .22lr for my birthday. Had to steal it from my cousin!
  3. So sub :56 is possible on a stock XR. crazy. I'll have to check Kent's F4 times, but I believe all his mods shave off a whopping .3 seconds... But yeah, congrats on the move, Ryan. The place sounds great. I'm jealous.
  4. NESBA was at PIRC once a month when I started riding with them in 2008. Now they are there twice a year.
  5. NESBA may not be doing much at PIRC in the future. They are doing dates at the NY safety track, and I suspect that is killing their business at PIRC.
  6. Or you could go the route I did an buy a ruger 10/22
  7. .22 handguns aren't really any cheaper than other calibers. The ammo obviously is, but the guns themselves aren't. What kind of shooting are you thinking of doing? A single-action revolver with a long barrel will be accurate, and it slows you down (more cost savings). A "heritage arms" revolver is cheap-ish. Phoenix arms makes a compact pistol with 2 barrels as well. Hp22a I think.
  8. I'm doing 1:00.xxx on ML75's. baby steps. And I'm not sure which race the :55.5 and alleged :54 second laps were turned in, but kent does run 17" slicks and a full exhaust on his F4 bike. Jeff definitely did a 55 on a stock XR though. Kent, Devon, and Jeff are in their own league this year. I'm hoping to keep them in sight next year.
  9. hahahaha "lawyer money!" the average attorney starts $45k in Cleveland. That is pretty reflexive of my wage, but I don't have benefits or PTO, and my loan payments are pretty substantial. Less than 10% of law school graduates are making "lawyer money" in the sense that most people think of it. but yes, straps are usually fine when used properly. high quality (climbing grade) locking carabiners can eliminate the slacking issue I mentioned in my prior post. That, in combination with a second set of straps (relatively) loosely secured to the rear passenger peg brackets can act as an effective backup for virtually any situation. I bought a 4-pack of 10' straps from Walmart for $24 5 or 6 years ago, and they still work great. If i have any complaint, it is that they are usually longer than i need. They're probably rated for 2,000 lbs. apiece, so I can theoretically secure 4 bikes per strap.
  10. We were pitted in the way back, because we brought our dog, and wanted to minimize bike traffic passing our pit area. Look for the Anderson Door Racing banner, stickers, hats, t-shirts, etc. JB and I have gone a little nutty with the whole "sponsorship" joke. I'm #524 and JB is #615, and he was kicking my ass all weekend. I held him off in the first XR heat, but he was about half a second faster than me all day. Still happy with how I rode, just wish I was breaking the 1-minute barrier.
  11. strongly disagree. while properly used ratchet straps are perfectly adequate, the pit-bull TRS is better. Straps go slack when you hit a bump, and the suspension of the bike compresses. That can allow them to un-hook. Furthermore, straps require you to compress the forks for them to be effective. The pit-bull TRS cannot accidentally let go, and does not compress the suspension at all. In fact it allows the bike's suspension to continue to absorb any bumps you hit, which is particularly important when using a trailer that is rated for an 1,100 lbs. payload, when your bike only weighs 400 lbs. or so. So yeah, ratchet straps will work, and when used properly can be effective 98% of the time ...but none of us wants to have our bike tip over 2% of the time.
  12. i question the need for a side-by-side hauler if you already have a light pickup. Or is that gone now that the enclosed trailer sold? My aunt and uncle have several acres, and my uncle bought a big Kawasaki ATV "to plow, and haul stuff" on the property. He also bought a large commercial-cut walk-behind mower to keep the grass in check. (I think it's the kind that tows the little wheel-stand, so he's not actually walking behind it) He ended up paying over $12k for two pieces of equipment when he could have bought a VERY capable lawn tractor that would have done all the same jobs for less money. Just something to consider. The AWD lawn tractors are great. Sucks that the toys had to go. 5 acres would make for some great mini races! I think I saw your NSR at the track yesterday though. I barely beat it in the F4 races.
  13. Always room for more Clevelanders. Now the question is, "which member does he work with?"
  14. i wish i could ride like either of them, but I think Joey's style is more technically beneficial. Getting his head and shoulders to the inside should be a significant amount of mass. I don't ride like Zemke, but I ride more like him than Joey. I stick my ass way off the seat, and keep my head relatively centered over the tank. I don't think that has been the best approach for me, but I can't seem to shake the habit.
  15. many places will refuse you service if your face isn't visible for their cameras. Banks are the only establishments I've seen actually post signs asking patrons to remove hats and scarves before entering, but it's just good sense to not open the register for someone who is (intentionally or not) concealing their identity from being recorded on video.
  16. my mortgage is about that (no idea on the exact number, because we just throw $1k/month at it...), but unless it's your "forever house," i'm not convinced it's worth it to buy. I like building equity in my house, but in the 4 years we've been here, I've bought a new garage door and opener, a central AC unit, insulated the entire attic, put a new roof on, purchased appliances, and otherwise sunk a bunch more money into the house that I'm not even remembering. I'd say that we're CONSERVATIVELY putting $2500/year into the house, so go ahead and add another $200/month onto my average mortgage payment. Nothing wrong with renting. Especially when you're single.
  17. Probably can't do this weekend, but I'm already looking at 8/31... Labor Day weekend, I think.
  18. what does practice at CRP cost anyway? PIRC is $30, and about 45 minutes closer for me, but the tolls are killer with a trailer. We take JB's truck to PIRC for that reason... I was considering a hitch-mounted hauler to eliminate the trailer tolls, but 1) i'm not too keen on adding 150 lbs. of bike onto the bumper of my wife's Hyundai Tucson, and 2) the quality hitch-mounted carriers start at $130 (harbor freight model can be had for under $100 with coupon), and even with pound-me-in-the-ass Pennsylvania tolls, the added expense of the trailer takes quite a few trips to hit $100+....
  19. I don't suppose anyone wants the pins...? I'll drop you a text tomorrow, Kevin. I will be around this weekend. I'll be in Circleville Saturday and Sunday of next weekend if that makes a difference for anyone.
  20. These run $290 new, and I have the third or fourth "generation" that has all the prior annoyances fixed. I understand that the pins are only useful to someone if they have a 600RR ('03-'06 for sure, may fit other years) The whole setup is in perfect working condition, but has the cosmetic wear you would expect from something that is on a trailer (mostly the base-plate). The MOST you would need to add is a couple of washers if I can't find them (I have 2 of the bolts through the frame-rail of my trailer) $150 without pins, or $200 if you want the pins too. As the pricing would suggest, I'll sell the pins separately for $50 if the rest sells first.
  21. not sure, but it's the newer seat/body style. I believe it's a "CRF" and not an "XR," although I think 2001-2003 was still the "XR" even though it had the updated look.
