  1. amoral does not equal illegal. at the civil level, there has to be a victim for there to be a crime. at the criminal level, society as a whole must be the victim. I think there's an argument for that claim, but I could just as easily play devil's advocate on the other side of it.
  2. It's true, he takes care of the AMA paddock before the common man, but wouldn't you? How many people see your bike versus Herrin's? I know Chris was slammed for the last month getting stuff designed, printed, and shipped to Indy. He literally put boxes in the mail a few days ago. After the GP, I'd expect that he'll be getting back to people. Better with the phone than email.
  3. full of win. I'd buy that shirt if it came in white.
  4. From what i've heard of Jaco, Victor Wooten is a much more talented bassist. Jaco is a better song writer though.
  5. forgive my ignorance of the street scene, but is the lowered kick-stand to accommodate 'drag' bikes that have the suspension significantly lowered, or is it just fashionable to have your bike leaning over further than stock on the kick stand?
  6. this is the preferred WERA method as well. They don't like hte K&N style 'nut.' two things to be careful of: 1) don't screw the clamp too tight. You CAN start to crush the filter. In extreme cases, badly enough to pull the lip away from the engine and allow oil to leak. 2) try to wire through part of the clamp that prevents the screw from loosening.
  7. the Ben who was on the cherry maroon R6? good to hear from you! This is shaping up to be a killer group. Methinks we'll have almost as much fun between sessions and after 5:00 as on the track. EVERYONE REMEMBER THAT PA IS RETARDED AND YOU CAN'T BUY BEER AT A GAS STATION.

    Like camping?

i'm interested, but I doubt my schedule will allow it... i have the "10-speed huffy" of camping gear, but for a single weekend, I could suck it up. would we be riding to the starting point? with only backpacking gear, the only concern would be locking up helmets, etc.
  9. Craig - Advanced Jinu - Intermediate Chris (me) - Advanced Nick - Intermediate R1Crusher - Intermediate? other Craig (guy from another forum that i'm meeting there) - Beginner? WantaHertzDonut - Intermediate SPZ9 - beginner Mikey - Intermediate Mikey's Brother - Intermediate Brandon - Intermediate John - Advanced Steve - Intermediate I'm hoping to get there before dark on Friday, but if I don't cut the lawn before i leave, the locks will be changed when I get home ...and there will be a note outside taped to the lawn mower.
  10. we're up to 10 bikes and 10 people. I'll bring two canopies. If one stays in the car, no big deal. (listed updated above)
  11. only in America could the contingent of uneducated people become large enough to have their own "language" recognized... And before someone tries to call me racist for "implying that black people are uneducated," I'd like to point out that Clarence Thomas and Barack Obama aren't the ones bastardizing the English language. It's not ALL black people. I'm a firm believer that the vast majority of problems we label as "racial" issues are really economic issues. Ask Marshall Mathers. </rant>
  12. I thought this was going to be a thread about Victor Wooten...
  13. It's cool. one more "open" rider is one more person to get my rear stand for me
  14. d'oh! RIGHT as I make a list. editing now...
  15. so looking back through this thread, I see the following people coming (sorry if i don't know your 'real' names). Craig - Advanced Jinu - Intermediate Chris (me) - Advanced APCH8r - Advanced? R1Crusher - Intermediate? other Craig (guy from another forum that i'm meeting there) - Beginner? So that's 6 bikes. Do I need to bring a second canopy? It's unlikely that I am sticking around for Sunday. I may leave Saturday night, but more likely Sunday morning.
  16. I think it's easy to get complacent during a period when one team is dominant. I wish I remember who said it in "Faster," but they were asking a retired rider (Schwantz? Raney?) about the Biaggi/Rossi rivalry, and he said, "what rivalry? I haven't seen Biaggi win anything in a while." But these aren't two riders with (at most) 20-25 year careers; they're schools with over 100 years of history between them. The oldest people on the planet have experienced this rivalry their entire lives. That would be a foolish thing for the Big 10 to disrupt.
  17. for what a decent 250 will cost you, I'd buy an F2 or F3. the 250 is a great bike, but its strength is flickability and corner speed. I hold back on both of those aspects of riding on public roads. for street riding, I find the most enjoyment in good acceleration, and more 'planted' handling. A 650 would be great, if you can find one cheap enough, but like I said, old Honda 600's should be pretty cheap and easy to find.
  18. So the simple solution is not to commit a felony... The "North Hollywood Shootout" raised a lot of eyebrows about guns, armor, and "conspiracy" laws after 1997. The quick background is The prosecution knew by common sense that they were going to rob a bank, but they couldn't prove which one. Thus there was no "conspiracy" or "attempt." the North Hollywood shootout, which all but the youngest of us should remember on the news, was the eventual result.
  19. i don't think it's evidence until the police get a warrant and seize it. You can "tamper" with your own video as much as you want.
  20. I have a $195 "mid-ohio school" T-shirt at home. I'll give you a discount if you want it: $180
  21. I'm going to appply and then claim racial discrimination when they hire 9 black guys who have fewer degrees than me. but seriously, www.urbandictionary.com. I know Obama's trying to create jobs, but paying 9 people to do the work of 1 FREE web site... come on...
  22. yeah, and no one who drives a commercial vehicle eats, sleeps, poops, or has kids
  23. Just to be nice to the wife? I negotiate. Watching the latest one on bootleg DVD over the weekend got me road-head on the way home from DC. Seeing the second one in the theater would have gotten me a back-door pass, but my sister-in-law had to fuck that up by being available to see it with my wife. I've gotta clue the sister-in-law's boyfriend in on how this works...

    Bengals

I was at a bar on OSU's campus around 2005ish when a real proud Bengals fan started talking shit to some browns fans. This was at like 8:00 on a Friday, so I don't know how NFL even came up... Anyway, in this mostly empty bar, everyone could hear their argument. My friends and I entertained ourselves by taking bets on which stat each of them would try to argue next. "I bet you the next round of beers that he pulls out the overall record between Cleveland and Cincy next." "deal - my money's on 'when was the last time the browns made the playoffs?'"
