  1. you beat me. I've yet to grid up. ...stupid life insurance:wheelchair:
  2. in this case, I believe the following is more convincing than photographic evidence: http://www.wera.com/results/showeventresults.asp?x=1098&rg=7222142119&c=7222144456 Nicely done
  3. i've wanted an RC plane since i was 7 years old... should probably suck it up and get a real one (my mom bought me one of those "air hogs" for christmas when i was around 20). pointless, but fun. Those videos are insane though. I can only imagine the time and cost of building one. I'd be afraid to put it in the air.
  4. www.sonicsprings.com - they'll be cheaper than racetech. I believe mine were about $80, and they have a spring-rate calculator that's pretty useful and accurate. Rich Desmond is either the owner, or the employee I dealt with. Good guy, and he'll help you with install questions, etc.
  5. i'm really not sure what's more disturbing; the original video itself, or the fact that there are some stupid young girls in this world who probably found it legitimately seductive. honestly, what are people like that going to contribute to society? Comic relief for the rest of us is not an even trade for their welfare benefits and/or the cost of their incarceration.
  6. were you in gravel or something? Unless the road is shit, I hardly touch the rear brake. Rear brake does nothing if the rear wheel is off the ground.
  7. I'll be late to commit, but I definitely want to go. I may or may not have an oral argument 'audition' on 5/15. IF that's indeed on the schedule, I'll book the event as soon as I'm sure the audition ends early enough for me to get to the track before midnight.
  8. try the WERA board. F2/3's are V7 machines, so look in the Vintage section in addition to the classifieds. http://forums.13x.com (I've bought from "H-man" in the past, and he's a good seller with plenty of spares) I assume you know already, but I feel compelled to say something, lest you make a costly mistake: I'm fairly certain that F2 and F3 front wheels are not interchangeable. the brakes and forks are different between the F2 and F3. Rears may fit with some modification, but they're definitely not the same sized rim. F3's are half an inch wider.
  9. i usually just click "new posts," but good call.
  10. before i finished watching the video (the 'expert' mentions spotlights), my first thought was, "ok, so someone opened a new Cinemark without notifying the local crazies..." if it's actually a UFO, why hasn't anyone tried to shoot it down? KILL THAT WHICH WE DO NOT UNDERSTAND!
  11. Where's STT-Brian? He can probably fill in proper names for this story when: summer 2008. Probably some time in May what: my 2nd weekend (ever) at BeaveRun. First time ever riding with STT. how it relates to this thread: The tire guy had a big diesel truck with stacks. nothing overly obnoxious like the video, but still big. Apparently the tire guy was getting shit from one of the coaches or STT regulars earlier. Said instigator jumps into the bed of the truck for a ride up to the showers, and the tire guy makes sure he gets absolutely DOUCHED with exhaust. Thinking quickly, the instigator notices that the tire guy's leathers are in the bed of the truck, and shoves them over the top of the stack to block the nasty exhaust. hilarity ensued as Monte laughed uncontrollably at both of them.
  12. (ignore the crappy plywood ramp - that's being replaced in June when I ride BeaveRun.)
  13. after my $200 trailer was too big to store, I picked up a harbor freight folding 4x8. It's been assembled for about a month now, but I only recently got the decking installed, and the Pit-Bull trailer restraint system went on this weekend. I can confirm that 1-man loading is now possible
  14. NESBA offers a free INTRO day. You get two, 20-minute sessions following a control rider. It's not a full free trackday, but it's worth doing to see how everything is run, and get your feet wet before you spend a bunch of money on full leathers, etc. I think it makes your first full day go a lot smoother too, as you're not worried about where to be and such. the most appealing thing is that there is ZERO bike prep; not even taping lights and mirrors. I've witnessed plenty of riders doing an intro session. They're run in conjunction with NESBA's "B" group. By nature, the first couple of sessions are pretty tame (full caution first 2 laps of each session), and the Control Riders don't let the intro riders get too aggressive given that their bike isn't taped, and the gear requirements aren't as strict. BeaveRun april 17th would be your first (close) chance to do an Intro day with NESBA, and that would leave you one day shy of a month to get ready for the OH riders day at Gingerman with STT.
  15. first gen SV650N was the bike that made me want a bike. Don't get rid of that one without letting me know!
  16. welcome. I'm in Parma as well. we'll have to get a NEO ride going at some point. Of course that would require me to actually fix my street bike, but I can ride my brother's until then...
  17. 2100cc engine and only 440 lbs.? that's kind of impressive, but I can't imagine riding such a light motorcycle with so much torque. I'd be so concerned about wheel-spin, I'm not sure it would be any fun
  18. there were people who put money into their Buell Blast?
  19. there is a KILLER deal in the cincy area on a 2008 ZX6 for $3200. http://tracktalk.nesba.com/showthread.php?t=12018 obviously it's been down, but $800 would get it street legal no problem.
  20. good to know Casper has absolutely no sense of humor i could explain, but i'm sure he'd just edit my post (again).
  21. my wife's a liberal. there's no reasoning with her but honestly, she has a "that won't happen to us" mentality. it's just a fundamental difference in opinion; on a lot of issues.
  22. She's a woman - there is no hope for a logical argument. There was a home invasion on her parents' street (I posted about it a couple months back), and they live in a nicer neighborhood than we do. She still doesn't think we need a home defense weapon. if i buy a firearm, it's only going to cause me problems with the wife. simply not worth it right now.
  23. I have qualifiers on my track bike. So far I like the grip better than regular Pilot Powers, but I think the PP 2CT is a better tire, and for less money thorugh STG right now... I have absolutely zero input on highway life for Qualifiers, but the rear will last 5-8 trackdays, depending on your pace. if you don't like Michelins for some reason, $280 is a decent price for Qualifiers, but email parts@nesba.com and ask for a price quote as well. I don't recall what I paid for my pair, but $260 seems to stick in my mind.
  24. hasn't the Westlake PD proven that dogs aren't bullet-proof? can yours wield firearms? My dog is a pet. It's my job to protect him; not the other way around. If he happens to scare or disable an intruder, great, but that's not why we got him. I wouldn't count on any dog to stop an intruder. I agree that most dogs will ALERT you of an intruder earlier than you might realize on your own, but an alarm is probably more effective for that. I want a shotgun, but my wife isn't comfortable with having one in the house. I keep a 4D maglite within reach, and I'll probably end up with a louisville slugger as my primary home defense weapon.
