    I agree with the rest who aren't very impressed with this car. A body kit and some paint don't make for a complete transformation. Just like a body kit on a Civic, it doesn't make it any cooler than it already is. (in the Civic's case, not very)

    If I were just going for appearance I'd take my Beemer to Hamann with the quickness.

  2. It depends on who pays first once I get them completed, there are more than 5 people that have said they want units, but not everyone is ready to buy once they're built, what kind of bike do you have?

  3. I understand your view. The issue is, the shock to the economy by just saying "f*(k 'em" and letting them die would do greater damage to the overall than this "transitioning" process. You're also putting the onus on a lot of blue collar workers that had nothing to do with the decisions made in white collar management.

    And my contention is still that auto manufacturing is still vital to US defense, so plunking down a few dollars in the auto industry isn't as horrible as the HUGE chunk they put into the financial sector and half the people don't even know where that money went. More white collar bonuses?

    The UAW is one of the overriding reasons why the American auto industry is failing.

    BUT! The rider weight really affects the rate at which the suspension bounces back after compression and vice versa. Just like if you were benching 200lbs, you can throw it back up a lot faster than if you were benching 300lbs. Less weight on you bike, quicker it'll bounce back. Like my 636 never had the SAG set, just compression, rebound, and dampening set, and it was STIFF. It moved when I sat on it, and when a light person sat on it, it wouldn't BUDGE. It was like a ROCK to them. My riding over bumps, etc is much better since I've tweaked my shit.

    I am all for sag set at 25-35mm and will have mine done when I got the time. I'm going 27mm.

    This is exactly what I'm trying to get at.

    When you sat on the bike it went down rapidly, but when your light friend does it moves down slowly. It'll still move down since you haven't adjusted the stiffness of the spring just the rate at which it moves.

    If you took that same bike and backed out the compression completely, you and your friend will still end up at the same respective points, you'll just get there faster.

    Lets say a 200lb person is on a pogo stick with the compression maxed out. They make the spring compress 2". Now a 100lb hops on and the spring compresses 1".

    Now take all of the compression out and the 200lb guy still makes the spring compress 2" and the 100lb guy 1", but they move the spring faster.

  6. You know who else thought they were doing things the right way? Natzis. Just because you think you're doing things right, doesn't mean you are.

    It isn't that I don't think he won't benefit from it, rather you're doing it backwards. Rebound and compression adjustments are for fine tuning. They aren't there to make a bike meant for a 180lbs person work for someone 275lbs.

  7. This is terrible advise Nick. Adjusting the compression is the WRONG way to adjust for rider weight.

    Compression is a dynamic event that controls the rate of movement within the shock and only applies when the shock is moving. Setting sag is a static measurement, and is the first thing you want to do to when setting up your suspension.

    Your advise is to cover up the real problems going on in the suspension. To much compression won't let the forks move anywhere making the bike handle like shit since weight isn't transfering forwards and backwards.

  8. He didn't ask for setting SAG. He just asked for preload and shit. That just takes a wrench and a flathead screwdriver.

    SAG is a different topic, his preload, compression, and rebound can be set by himself in minutes.

    How do I set up my forks for a heavier rider such as myself.

    I am 245lbs.....and my front end feels like a sponge.

    Also....Rear Shock....Should I be adjusting this for my weight as well?

    I am tired of my bike not riding like I know it should.

    I have never set a bike up for my weight....so lets do this like your teaching me my ABC's. :D

    Bike is an '06 Honda 600RR

    Thus sag at the very least.
