  1. I am starting to coordinate the next hockey event at OSU. Keep these dates in mind: April 10th, April 17th, and April 24th. They are all on Friday (all that was available). The time is the same 9:15 to 10:15. Depending on how many are interested this time around, we may do an hour and a half. If we have only 10, an hour seems like enough.

Please vote, it makes life easier. =)

  2. Yes! Fun was had by all, I hope. Thanks to all of you for coming out; those who didn't you can bugger off (just kidding). Next time, I'll try to work a bit harder on lining up another goaltender and some more players. I will try to do this once a month, if you are up to it. BTW, Scrappy lived up to her name; quite the fight in that one. =)

  3. I won't find out till closer to game time if he's coming or not, but if you wouldn't mind bringing it along just in case it'd be appreciated.

Also, Paddy O Furniture, you still able to swing by my place on your way? If not it's no big deal, looks like it'll be a nice night out so a walk wouldn't kill me.

Yep, I can swing by. I'll call you when I get close.

  4. are you for sure yota is coming, i talked to him on sunday and he didn't think he was going to be able to make it.

No, I guess I am not sure. The last I knew he was going to, but I am sure you know better than I. Again, if anyone has friends who play they are welcome to come.

  5. Alright so lets get an update, how many skaters do we have?

Harb, cpeezy, apch8r, lp, scrappy, Paddy, yota, tomin, goalie. This is not counting any friends who are welcome to come. So we will have 8 skaters, hopefully one of us has another goalie friend.

  6. Wahoo! Just 2 more days.

I have a few extra sticks, set of shoulder pads and I pair of skates size 10.5. They skates need to be cut though.

Still only have 1 extra skater coming.

Should be a good time anyways.

Agreed, should be good fun. Just bring your extra stuff if you can, that way if anyone does need it, we have it. I am bringing extra shinpads, sticks and skates.

  7. Can't bikes park in car spots after 4 or 5 pm too? It mentions it on the tp.osu.edu site but it's very vague; all it says is something like "after 4[5?] pm, 2-wheeled vehicles can park in 4-wheeled vehicle spaces until 5 am". Does that mean we can park wherever the hell we want on campus in the evenings? That'd be convenient; not a huge perk but a nice convenience nonetheless.

It is my understanding that you can park in 4 wheeled spaces after 4 IF you have a mc permit.

  8. Depending on the bank, if you show them that the vehicle was covered during the time in question they will probably adjust your balance.

If it wasn't covered, or you can show proof, shame on you.

+1 here. If the bank puts a force placed insurance policy on something, you can usually fax them proof that it was insured for the referenced dates and they will reimburse you that amount or credit to the account. I have had this happen on a rental unit because the escrow wasn't set up properly, it isn't fun. I would call the insurance department of the bank and ask them for their fax # and then give that number to your insurance agent to fax the proof.

  9. i love motorcycle parking privileges on campus. 15 dollars for the whole year gets you closer parking than what they A pass people get when they pay 300+ for parking.

Yeah they are $600+/year for the A pass, but it is a pre-tax deduction so T&P says it isn't as bad; whatever.

  10. Ok so basic jist of this is im taking a class req'd for my major. The grade in this class consist of 90% weight for exams (2) and 10% for pop quizzes and max of 3% for extra credit.

Now i have full points in both extra credit and pop quizzes, they were easy as they were only based on that day's lecture.

However, I am a HORRIBLE test taker. I go into an exam feeling like i have studied my ass off and confident, yet seem to for the most part come out of it with a lower than expected grade.

I did improve by 24% from my midterm exam grade to the final exam grade, however my final course grade is still short of what i need by 5%.

I sent an email asking if their was a curve and basically stating that i am confident in the material of the course, just not a good test taker at all and to arrange a meeting to talk further.

He replied that there is no curve and not really sure what we would need to setup a meeting for when he could answer everything through email.

How would you guys/gals write the next email saying "bump me 5%" without sounding desperate?

gen. discription of prof: very down to earth guy yet a doctorate, wears jeans and hoodie to teach when his co-workers are in suits and ties. about mid 40's with kids. I've talked to him once asking about a notes clarification from a prior class.

I work closely with faculty at OSU every day and from what you are saying, his philosophy is to value exams over busywork, so it seems a little contrary to his philosophy to put more weight on your quizzes, ec, and begging. You may get a bump if you are very close, like 1 to .5 percent. You can give it try, but I wouldn't count on getting a 5% bump. I would highlight your attendance record if you have missed one or less class periods and any times you may have met with him at office hours. Go over your exams and look at the questions you missed and understand exactly why you got them wrong. Explain why your being a bad test-taker wrought these results. Be sure to explain how you would have answered correctly whilst not under duress.

    Good Luck!

  11. Haha, and I will be rocking the D-league skating skills.

I think I have a few right-handed sticks lying around that I will bring. Also, I think I have an extra pair of skates size 11. I am going to check this weekend to see what I have in the garage.

I got one extra skater coming with me so far.

Good News! Thanks! Just to remind ( I don't want to be annoying), its 16 bucks to skate, but if there are more then 10 there, I will refund some of that.

  12. OMG!!! I am at the lab right now, by myself... or so I thought. I'm kinda rockin out with my mp3 player and what not, I come around the corner and happen to glance inside of a dark conference room, and I see a hand... yeah, a hand in a dark conference room, then I notice another hand, and legs... there's a person in a chair in a dark conference room in the middle of the freakin night.... whatdoidowhatdoidowhatdoido??? i can safely say that I almost had a heart attack. I basically have locked myself in my lab and plan on finishing my experiments and making a mad dash for the elevator, bc i'm creeped out.

    Who does that??

We have that happen sometimes in Derby. It is usually a 3rd shift custodial worker trying to get out of working.

  13. Alright I'm officially in.

I've got one or two right-handed sticks and a spare jersey or two that people can use, but not much else. Depending on how this pans out (checking, no checking, what are the rules?), I might not go full pads so someone can use my shoulder pads/elbow pads/pants, but I'll be using my shin guards and gloves regardless.

No checking. There is bound to be some contact, but there are going to be players whose skills run the gamut from beginner to advanced. So keep the contact to a minimum. =)

I will not be wearing any shoulder pads either.

  14. Oh, also, would any kind soul feel like stopping by and giving me a ride to the rink? I live right off the Lane and High intersection, but I'm bringing all my gear so people can borrow pads if needed and that bag is a bitch to lug across campus :o

I can give you a lift. Just google your address for me and I'll be there. HA!
