  1. OSU is closed...and open :rulez:

Unfortunately, I am considered "essential" personal and I had to drag my arse into work. :nono: Nothing like having to get up an extra hour early only to come in and be bored to death since no one else had to come!

That stinks. I am designated essential, but as long as I can work from home I don't have to go in, per university rules. My director told me that I didn't need to worry about working though.

  2. Eh, not with a g/f and 3 pets lol. I appreciate the offer though!

I am no longer under and lease with the current landlord, just month to month. The landlord claims now that he will be returning my security deposit this week but I will believe it when I see it. As for the lawyer, I dont currently have the extra money to pay for the consultation. Why I was looking for some free advice here.

Okay, gotcha. I was under the impression that you were still within the contract period. As a month to month, you should get your security deposit and find a new place. I wouldn't wait to be evicted. If you are trying to rent again, your name would show up in court records of the eviction. Even though it wasn't for non-payment, some landlords would possibly not rent to you because of that.

As an aside, I wasn't trying to sell any law services, I just didn't know the situation. Sorry.

  3. So I recieved a nice birthday present from my landlord. He informed me that he had filed for bankruptcy (chapter 7). So I am having to look for somewhere to move to here soon. Kinda pisses me off that he started the process back in October and supposedly everything is going to be finalized in February. Dont get me wrong, i understand why he would wait, but it still doesnt make it right.

Anyone know much about this stuff? Does the bank just boot me out or do they charge me rent or what?

Let it be known, I am not a lawyer. I am a landlord though, and this is what I have seen happen. It depends on what the bank wants to do. I have seen instances where the landlord (the bank in this case) allows the tenant to finish out the lease. It all depends on what the bank is going to do with the property. Incidentally, I would ask your current landlord about any security deposits you may have given. You may want to speak to an attorney about this if your security deposit is significant. PM me if you want to talk to a lawyer, I have a good landlord - tenant guy who is very reasonable.

  4. I am a systems manager at a large university in Columbus. I deal with the gd customers so the engineers don't have to. I have people skills; I am good at dealing with people! Can't you understand that? What the hell is wrong with you people?

  5. Yeah I get it, but honestly we really haven't had much to toot our horns about lately... 'cept hockey and basketball...

No doubt! Are you going to the OSU vs ND hockey games in February? I am taking my oldest son to the Friday game. $11 per ticket and includes a piece of pizza, a soda, and a free pass to skate at the osu ice rink.

  6. Well...I kind of did. Me and two buddies were driving to a friends house after a party one night at about 3am. We turned down a kinda back road to get there and we see two people laying half way in the road...then we see a motorcycle in the ditch...we all jump out and the girl was conscious but out of it at the same and is at least able to move a little and talk a bit, but the guy was just laying face down making some awful awful noises. So we call 911 and the dept wasn't far away so they were there within minutes, and it turns out the girl was fine, just beat up, but the guy died on the scene just after the police/fire dept, got there...was an awful night...

I think I have read this account before. Did you tell it on svrider?
