Yes, I hate American terrorist fighting movies. I have seen a couple so far, and every time I watch one, my hate of this genre of movie grows.
Arabs and Muslims are accused of being terrorist just because they are Arabs and Muslims. Excuse me but, WTF? I was just watching the movie "Rendition"; a movie about terrorist Arabs and Muslims. One guy was kidnapped from an Airport in the U.S. by the police because his phone number was shown on a terrorist phone calling list, again WTF? He wasn't tortured in the U.S., laughter, but deported to Algeria to be tortured for information to give to the United States; the United States doesn't want to have blood on their hands for his torture. I thought of some expletives for some reason here.
Anyway, my point is, FOR GOD'S SAKE not because someone did something that he believes is the right thing to do " and yes i mean osama ben laden <<I can't fix this<< I don't agree or believe that what he did was right. That doesn't mean that we Arabs and Muslims are following his steps, nor should we be generalised as terrorists or suicide bombers. I am against terrorism and suicide bombing.
Anyway, I want to deliver a message to Hollywood movie makers to please leave us alone or make a movie that is less fictional. Perhaps something that will show the goodness and kindness of Islam and the Arab people. Of course not all Muslims or Arabs are good people, " but the majority are.
This is my 2 cents on this issue. People who disagree with me, stay away from this thread please. Those who agree with me, please share your ideas. Let it be known that I am not trying to pit groups against one another or be political in any way "
I tried to clean it up for him. Unfortunately, it is still quite a mess. =/

I need to get back with the people at the OSU ice rink with info to get the ball rolling. Is the Thursday time good for people? The Monday time is taken. Send me a PM with your name and an e-mail address if you can make the Thursday March 19 at 9:15 time slot. I need to make sure we have good enough numbers for this to make sense.
Thanks!

I have an old teammate that is a goalie as long as goalies play for free like typical drop ins
I have no problem with that.
-
FYI - I received notice that renting the ice time at the Chillers is $275 per hour. I would imagine that eliminates that option.
I am okay with any of the dates, but we would want probably 12+ people. If we don't have goalies, we can flip the nets and play bank shots. Right now we have six respondents. Anyone else?
-
hey joe, did you see any good package deals on goalie stuff??? best i could find was close to 3 grand...
I've priced it about $970 for entry level gear.
-
lol i am down for ne of those dates ... and it would be really good if we could get a goalie to come out so we dont have to shoot on an empty net ..... better thing would be is go to www.thechiller.com and look at adult drop in times and it is only like 12 bucks to get in and that would give us a chance to skate with more people
Yes, but then it ceases to be a "group" function. I like drop-ins, but you don't get as much playing time. It isn't a bad idea though.

I need to go somewhere are try some on for sizing. Who sells similar skates?
The Hockey stop on Bethel Rd, I believe. I typically get a size and a half smaller then my shoe size; typical sizing for hockey skates; unless you are looking at mission or tour brands.
-
I have no idea what to buy when looking at this shit. I guess the $50 skates are good enough?
If you plan to use them often, you may want to get a more expensive pair as they are typically better in lots of ways, but for a skater who is just starting out, I would recommend a less expensive skate. This is what I would recommend out of the links:
Skates
Nike Bauer Supreme ONE05 Senior Ice Hockey Skates 47.99
Elbow Pads
Nike Bauer Supreme 10 Senior Hockey Elbow Pads 15.99
Shin Guards
Itech Techlite 255 Senior Hockey Shin Guards 26.99
Helmet
Nike Bauer 1500 Hockey Helmet w/ Cage 36.99
Pants
Nike Bauer Supreme 10 Senior Ice Hockey Pants 44.99
Gloves
Easton Stealth S5 Senior Hockey Gloves 29.99
You could certainly get the least expensive gear and be fine, it is just a function of how much you think you will play.

I looked into costs for gear, cheapest skates I could find were 100 bucks and helmets were around 50, sticks are gonna run between 50 and 150... I really don't have 300 bucks laying around... so I'm gonna have to say I'm out unless ya need a coach....
check my post #7 in this thread. There are some links with pretty cheap pricing on equipment.
-
-
I can afford to drop like a hundo to get gear. As far as dates go... Any of those would work as of now
Really, you just need helmet, shin-guards, elbow pads, and a stick. I would say that pants are not necessary, but nice to have. You can get a girdle that would go under sweat pants; cheaper than pants. Shoulder pads are not necessary if there is no hard checking.

You can use one of my sticks. I don't have any extra helmets. I have extra skates, they are old, but I understand not wanting to wear used gear. I have extra shin pads if anyone needs to borrow those.

The cost per hour is $160. If we can get 12 people it breaks down to just over $13 for an hour. I would think an hour and a half would be best, but perhaps starting with an hour would be better? Duke (rink manager) said that everyone must have equipment or they are not allowed to skate; i.e. helmet is mandatory. There is a contract to be signed, indemnifying OSU if you get hurt. He said everything is booked until exam week. He gave me dates that were available, I'll include these in a poll to gauge interest. The dates are:
Monday March 16 @ 7:45
Thursday March 19 @ 9:15
Wednesday March 25 @ 5:30
If these don't work, I can call the chiller or even see if the Newark campus rink has times.
-
I'm going on 24 hours right now..... and I have at least two more hours before I can even leave work to head home. I hate this shit. I need a new job.
I really must be lazy, I have pulled 3 all-nighters in the 9+ years I have worked in IT here at OSU
-
I am going for Friday and Saturday. Good to hear!
-
hockeygiant.com has had some pretty good deals on New Old Stock skates.
-
I'll call Duke tomorrow. I know at B.G., it was like 125 per hour, but that was like 10 years ago.
-
Even if we don't get in a league, we could rent ice time for an hour or two. When everyone who is playing chips in, it isn't that expensive. I can see about renting ice time at the OSU rink (the ice isn't that great, but it is ice).
