  1. I had a passion for learning about computers so I jumped into IT. Now I hate computers as much as I hate the mouth breathers who use and break them.

HA!! I feel exactly the same way. Hopefully I won't be doing this IT shit too much longer.

  2. I am now out of contract with DirecTV. My bill is $148 per month. I called the other day and they are taking $10 off per month for the next 12 months. I figured this coming weekend, I'll call to "cancel" and see how much more they'll take off.

I wish I could use the free streaming option, but with 5 tv's in my house, 3 of which are in the man cave setup for sports only, keeping DirecTV is my best option. It would cost me a lot more money to replace tv's and buy computers and/or devices to run all 5 tv's.

Oh, and my internet bill is $50 per month through TimeSightCast. Might think about switching to AT&T so that I can get that bill included with DirecTV instead of paying a separate bill.

  3. The step-kid will be 10 in a couple months. I'd like to get her an ATV so that maybe she'll go outside instead of burying her nose in electronics. She's only ridden the battery powered ones. Figured I'd check here to see if anyone would have one they'd let go for cheap. I'm not sure how much she'll enjoy it, if at all, so don't want to drop a ton. LMK.
  4. I'm thinking about smoking some bacon wrapped chicken breasts first. A nice easy first smoke

Do your research on prepping the chicken the night before. If not done right, the skin will be rubbery. Always use fresh meat. I buy and prep mine the night before smoking. Instead of water in the pan, you can use chicken broth. Do not use thick cut bacon. You'll want to use regular or thin.

  5. What kind of smoker do you have?

Just got the Brinkmann, lava rocks, and some chips. I'm going to get a chip box tonight and start to break this bitch in.

It should have came with lava rocks. I've been using wood chunks in mine. I soak them for 20 minutes and place 3 or 4 beside the heating element, being sure they aren't touching the element.

What is your reasoning for getting the chips and chip box? Where are you planning on placing the chip box?

Oh, and what are you planning on smoking first?

Also, sign up over at SmokingMeatForums.com. You'll learn a lot by doing some reading on that site.

  6. Main rule of tattoos. Good tattoos are not cheap; Cheap tattoos are not good. If you're looking for something about the size of a softball, plan on dropping $200 per person. There are tons of good shops around Columbus.

    Here's just a few:

Stained Skin, Evolved, High Street, Thou Art, Skin Deep

  7. I've been trying to talk my drunk self out of going to get food for the past hour, this isn't helping. Looks delicious!

No matter what you get, it won't be as good as this. I so wanted to pick one up and eat it like a burrito.

  8. I have been watching this thread since the start. Been hoping and praying for the best. So sorry for your loss. I have lost a lot of family members during my life, but I cannot begin to think about how hard it is to lose someone that close.

I have family out west. The next time I am out that way, I'll hit you up to see if we can meet up. I know it won't make up for what you are going through, but I want you to know that no matter what, there are people out here that care too.

We are here for you bro. Hang in there.

  9. Yeah, I smoked a couple fatties today. No, it's not 4:20, you pot heads.

I did what I call a whole hog fattie and a Mexican fattie.

The whole hog fattie is a layer of bacon, sausage, cheese, ham, and pulled pork:

The Mexican fattie is bacon, sausage, veggies, chorizo, and shredded cheese. I precooked a log of chorizo with 2 eggs:

  10. Mesquite's a strong, bitter smoke usually for beef (and/or you're a texan) Try some hickory, apple, or oak - they make for nice flavors in white meat. The 'thin blue smoke' advice above is right on - I'm not sure how well you can control an electric, but it's smoke from the actual combustion of the wood thatcha want (so no soaking them in water, that's smoldering)

With an electric, like this one, you do soak the wood for 20 minutes beforehand. Otherwise, the wood will catch fire, which is not good for the heating element that the wood is laying right beside. With this particular unit, I use 3 - 4 pieces of wood about every 2 - 2 and 1/2 hours.

I'm probably going to pick up a bag of Apple wood chunks this weekend. I'm not a huge fan of the mesquite because it is so strong. But, like I said, I am in the learning phase, so I just grabbed one that sounded good at the time.

  11. My neighbor has a 2 seater chopper and has been asking me for a while if I'd like to take a ride. I have been busy, but finally just dropped everything when he asked me to go a couple weeks ago. He stores it down near Lancaster, so when he had it up here a couple weeks ago, we flew from Canal to Buckeye Lake, then down to his storage location. We were in the air at 600 ft for about 1 and 1/2 hrs. I'm not sure how fast we were flying. I didn't ask. Anyway, on to the pics of the fun.
