There are people here in my facility this week from our corporate office in Seattle. Being a hands-on IT person, I can't work from home. I fix and replace hardware several times a day. There are parts of my job that I can do remote, just not all. My wife has an autoimmune disorder that if she gets sick, she's screwed. She's asked me not to go to the gym for a while, which I get. But right now, my biggest risk is work. And I can't not go.

Was that a 15-year refi? That's a damn good rate.

I say have fun. Do what you can while you can. Once you get older, married, kids, etc, it's all over. No more fun car at that point. You'll need a minivan. If a car payment is the only bill the 23 yr old has right now, go enjoy it. Get that expensive car. Enjoy life now. But definitely still go see Jordan. He'll get you the best deal on the car you want.

We've had a lot going on last year with buying a house, going into contract with the developer on the old one, then having to rent the old house out because the developer keeps delaying things, fixing a bunch of effed up shit at the new house, etc. So, I'm hoping that we end up closing on the old house within the next month or so. Once's that done, I can refinance and begin working on building my detached garage and buy an old truck to work on.

Can someone please explain this because I'm thoroughly confused? All news sites are reporting that Trump has been impeached. My understanding is that the House has voted to impeach him and now it has to go to the Senate for them to vote on it as well. So, he's not technically been impeached, just voted by the House to be impeached. Yes, I'm politically stupid. I don't understand any of this shit. Someone please explain.

In the township that I'm in, my permit is good for 2 years. I do want as large of a garage as I can afford, but to get the most bank for my buck, I'm going to have to try to do as much of the build myself as possible. So I'm looking for something that I'm going to be able to do mostly myself. I just don't know which route to take right now and until I figure this out, I can't apply for the permit.

I can't go too crazy with ceiling height due to zoning restrictions, but what would be a good ceiling height for a garage that will have a lift in it? Is 10 feet enough? I don't need to be able to stand under a vehicle, just enough height that I can work under it, even if that means sitting on a rolling shop stool.

Ok, so I know I need to get a permit first, which I am working on. From there which would you typically do first, have the concrete poured, or build the building and then have the concrete poured afterwards? Does that depend on which type of building I go with?

I'm ready to pull the trigger on a detached garage. Due to the area and space available, I can do a 24x30. I've been reading about metal vs wood. I don't know which route to go. I like the durability and easy installation of metal, but I also want to be able to work in the building in the winter time, which is where I think being able to insulate a wood building would be more beneficial. I'm not sure if a metal building can be insulated? And then what about hanging items on the wall, like a peg board, tools, etc. With a metal building there's nothing on the inside of the wall to hang stuff from, except steel posts. A wood building would be easy to insulate and hang drywall. Those of you that have detached garages/workshops, what kind do you have, and what do you like/dislike about it? What would you do differently if you could build a new one?

I thought I read somewhere that there would be some differences once they start producing them. I must have misunderstood.

I'm going to have to go against the grain here. I just flat out don't like it. It doesn't look like a Corvette at all. I understand this is a prototype and the final result will look a bit different, but still, it won't be far off from this.

Yeah, I know this time of year is the worst to find something. I kept telling myself I'd wait until fall/winter, but each week I mow, it's getting harder to wait. I'm going to continue to look until the right deal comes along.

Yeah, that's what I'm finding. I like the fact that having a new one I would have a warranty, but hate the price tag that comes with it. I'm just going to keep looking. Maybe I'll get lucky.

I thought about that, but I wouldn't be able to get under all of the trees, so I'd still need a smaller mower. I don't need all the fanciness of a multi-use tractor.

I recently moved to a property with a shit-ton of trees. Mowing is not fun on a standard rider and takes twice as long as it should. I've been watching CL and Martketplace for a zero turn, but they all seem to have broken junk. Thought I'd check if anyone here is selling one or knows someone selling one. I'm looking for approximately a 50"; could be smaller or larger, and not asking an arm and a leg. Let me know what you got. Thanks!

Good to know. I was going to look for someone for this purpose. I have a lot of new stuff in the house. However, depending on what house I end up with, I may take a lot of it myself. I will keep you in mind though.

After discussions with multiple people and because of the situation, I'm far better off just taking what I can get and run. If I push back too hard, they will walk. They don't NEED the land, they WANT the land. With this situation, I don't have to hire a listing agent, then pay 6% fees, and have to buy a bunch of shit to finish off some projects. All said and done, I'll come out ahead just paying the 3% and walking away. Plus, since they are going to level the house, I had the contract updated that I can take EVERYTHING out of the house; hell, even the house itself, if I wanted. I can sell cabinets, light fixtures, doors, door hardware, sinks, faucets, hot water tank, pressure tank, hvac, etc. I'll make most, if not all that money back on that stuff.
