That does look pretty sweet! I'd say "go for it". But it is an 800 - not going to have the power and grunt that you might expect or want. Should be easier to handle in tight stuff though with the wide bars. FJR and ST's are freakin' tranks and I'd never suggest one for someone that didn't have a lot of riding exdperience. They can go fast, but it takes some real doing to make that happen and shitloads of experience also help. The BMW would be much more forgiving, plus have an upright passenger seating position that your wife will certainly appreciate.

I'm forced to head over to the out-laws house next weekend with the wife. She never said I had to hang out with'em all day, so I'm going to trailer a bike over to Zanesville with me. Be happy to make another, nicer one for you. No charge, either. I make stuff as a hobby, not as a job. Small pieces I can generally make from scrap I have lying around. Larger pieces I only charge for the aluminum stock. The Schwantz bikes have RAM ball mounts at various locations on the bike so that they can move the camera around to shoot their students at various angles. Working on a tower for the back of the bike now so that the POV will be looking down at the rider from above. This will allow them to analyze the rider's body position on the bikes. Anyway, would love to make some stuff to fit V-Stroms sometime.

I have three CB50's that I was going to make into cafe's. 3 years later and I've done very little work to them. Clear titles on 2 of them - dunno how I'd title the third one.
