I've been a network engineer for about 6 years. I actually worked for CMH Sprint for a little bit until I was hired on full time at OSUMC. I am an expired CCNA. I support most of what has been said on here about experience being much more valuable but I will say this. The CCNA is a good start to teach you a wide variety of networks that you may otherwise never even hear of. Further, it's a vendor cert but Cisco network gear is analogous to Microsoft OSes. It's just the most prevalent brand of network equipment you'll see so you might as well certify on that brand if you're going to get a vendor based cert. Beyond that. The cert will get your resume to show up in monster.com searches and get the recruiters to look at you and potentially get you an interview. After that it's more about you and your experience than the cert. If you want my 2 cents. Get the cert, it does nothing but help and shows your willingness or want to get into the networking field and will put you ahead of all of the other field services type techs that also want to get into the networking field. It won't get you the job all by itself but I think it's a great tool for getting your foot in the door. It has certainly treated me well. I still get calls semi regularly from recruiting places and to be honest, the calls started when my resume listed the CCNA on it. I also have the COMPTIA A+ and Network+ certs. I didn't find that they got much intrest from the recruiters like the CCNA did. Also, to those who say the CCNA and CCNP is a breeze, I hope you have taken it and say that. I scored well on the CCNA but there is no way I'd say it was a walk in the park. It's a lot of information to digest even if you have been networking for awhile. It covers technologies you likely haven't touched. The multiple CCNP tests are at least more specialized and focused which makes them a little more palatable. Last bit of advice. I read the book, used the self study material and took the test. It's not easy but it's not so hard that you necessarily need to drop $3000 and 1 year of classes at a community college to get it. The self tests will let you know if you are ready to go take the real test and if I recall it's only about $180 to sit for the test. Not bad IMO.

Damn it, now I have to spend money again!!!!

I rode the hopper yesterday. It's running strong. I was passing all kinds of people on Indianola. This weather is fantastic!!!

I think the biggest thing that will be great about this is being able to frame your shots ahead of time. The HD gopro has no view finder so it was hard to get the camera pointed exactly the way you want it. I'll definitely be picking one of these up. You can also use it like a regular camera now. Should get some funky results doing that IMO.

Ohio Riders is a special place indeed.

She never asked for anything like this ring. I bought it because at the time I believed it was the only engagement ring I would ever buy and because I've worked hard and can afford it I spent as much as I could afford in order to make her feel special. Some people on this board have their opinions about the diamond trade or about expensive rings being gawdy and unnecessary and that's fine I respect that. In this case, this is the route I went. I loved the ring as much as she did. I really liked seeing her wear it and I was proud that I was able to afford to put it on her finger and I even liked it when her friends were blown away by it. If I made more money than I do, it probably would have been even nicer. That's just how I am. I knew she would appreciate it so I bought it. I don't understand why people come on my "for sale" thread and feel the need to share their "opinion" about the ring. It's just a ring. I realize it's more than some people can afford or even think is worthwhile, and others feel strongly about Debeers and the blood diamonds and so on and so forth. The world is full of hypocrisy, and tragedy in many aspects of life. I get it, I just don't get why an add in the classifieds on a motorcycle forum needs to become a soap box for everyone's opinion on diamonds. Alas, it didn't work out. Oh well. With the next girl we'll see. I just hope I can get some decent money out of this one and move on because I don't have much use for a diamond worth thousands of dollars right now.

A lot of people have said that and it's one of the few silver linings to the situation.

I gave her the ring on my 30th birthday. Apparently your logic failed on me.

Not that I think this will happen, but if anyone would like to trade a KTM 2-stroke dirt bike as part of their payment, we might be able to work something out. I'd like a 250. That or a 4cylinder truck with a manual transmission. Looking at old Isuzu's Toyota's and Nissan's between 1k and 2k in value. Just want something rough that runs good.
-
Well, the value is in the center stone for sure. I'll separate if necessary but need to get offers and see what people want. BTW, thanks to all those being supportive. The break up was hard.
-
LOL, lots of stories. None I'll share on here though.

I already have a pretty good idea of what I can get at a jewlery store and on CL, I'm open to offers, the worst I'll say is no. I don't expect to make a mint on it but the diamond is really good quality. specifically the fact that it has a D color rating and is GIA certified I'm hoping will help me out.

http://columbus.craigslist.org/jwl/2174384313.html For those interested, this is a fantastic ring. Please look at the Craigslist add and let me know if you are interested. I have it listed at $7999. Make me a reasonable offer and it could be yours. Here are some pics if you don't want to click through

Just posted in a different thread, pics are actually from this weekend. Ice racing = fun.

Here are a bunch of pics from the lake in reverse chronological order. Enjoy!!!! BTW, riding on the ice is fun as hell!!!

Generally Manufacturers make their speedos err to the high side for liability reasons and tire/wheel variances and due to some countries laws. My VW for instance reads about 5% high because VW could suffer big fines from the german government if their speedos read low. Think about it. If your speedo says you are doing 65 and you were actually doing 70 and you proved that in court you'd be able to pin your speeding ticket on the manufacturer. Making the speedo err high is a safe bet for everyone. But yes, GPS, and a cop's radar laser gun are generally more accurate than your speedo. A cops speedo however is supposed to be calibrated so they are able to accurately pace people. Bottome line 157mph on a public road is pretty damn fast.
-
For him to be doing an actual clocked (not indicated) 157 I'd say it's a safe bet it was a liter bike. Sometimes I'm a little amazed that sport bike's are even street legal considering how fast they are. Not that I'm against it, just amazed.

My sister is a Cop, they recently put this stuff in her cruiser. It's just another one of those things. I'm not too into big brother my self but on the other hand if you aren't a criminal you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

Congrats Brandon. Should be interesting to see this progress.

Fixed, sry bought that.

Well, it's official. Thanks to Matt Carr, I'll be shooting all of Ducati Indy's track days at Putnam this year. If you'd like to come to those track days and buy my photography I'd appreciate it a lot. Pricing is to be determined but it will likely follow the same standards as the other track day photographers out there. There will be per image prices and then an option to buy a CD for 1 day or 2 days if it is a 2 day event. you can sign up thru the dealer at http://www.indyducati.com/ Maybe it feels more official because I finally pulled the trigger on this bad boy. http://www.the-digital-picture.com/reviews/canon-ef-100-400mm-f-4.5-5.6-l-is-usm-lens-review.aspx It'll be my primary track day lens for now. If I don't make much money at the track days I might need to sell the track bike to start covering expenses though until I get on my feet. I'm still waiting to hear back from Brett at Mid-OH to see if he will let me shoot the PTR days. Hoping to hear back soon.

That is really funny. Give US top gear a chance. They have really big shoes to fill. They need to find their stride. I thought episode 2 was better than 1.
-
If you slow down you loose speed and risk falling out of the power band.
-
Thanks, glad you like them. That shit is "chip foose" They are actually BMX pegs, I reused the single engine mount bolts to also mount the pegs up high like that. The old pegs would drag in turns.

People have been doing this for years. Of course it's not really a practical application it's just cool. Flounder is right, anything non-conductive will work. From what I've read the key is to use something to circulate the liquid otherwise the temp will slowly rise. Also see peltier coolers, cooling with refrigerator compressors, water cooling and using the radiators out of small cars. I think I saw Toms hardware temporarily cool a processor with liquid nitrogen for an over clock run awhile back too. It's all just fun. Personally, I have always felt a big assed heat sink in an air cooled system is the most practical, submersion cooling would just be too messy. I actually always thought this was one of the coolest solutions out there. Pretty pricey though. The case is the heatsink. Since the heatsink is so big it doesn't require a fan. If I remember correctly they say if you want to overclock you should point a box fan at the case. http://www.devhardware.com/c/a/Computer-Cases/Zalman-TNN-500A-Fanless-PC-Case-Review/
