  1. Photos are available at www.electriceyeimages.com Saturday is up, and Sunday is uploading as we speak. I'd imagine the upload for Sunday will finish sometime after midnight tonight. If you were there, I guarantee I have some good pictures of you. For the amount of pictures shot it's very probable. Here is a direct link to Saturday. For updates through out the season like us on facebook. http://electriceyeimages.photoreflect.com/store/thumbpage.aspx?e=8491617
  2. This is a typical one thing leads to another story. I had already tuned the bike to have an open airbox, I added some ammo boxes and naturally when to adjust the preload on the rear shock and found that the current airbox is in the way. I figure, this is no problem, I'll just run a pod filter. And then of course I had no where to put the battery, this is where a fabricator friend keith came in. He custom fabbed a steel battery box for me and it is totally BA. Here is the process in pics. So here we are starting off with a couple pics of the big old air box that is being replaced. And now onto a sheet of steel, the pod filter is in some future pics but is less interesting as it's just a universal uni filter The next 4 images are a short break to show what Keith really does, that's a custom cro-moly drag racing chassis and a 750 2 stroke 3 cylinder, check out those expansion chambers
  3. Quite pleased to find a gallon of milk fits with no problem
  4. Ill let others ride it, I don't need 60 beers to myself, between the klr and the yamahopper I don't think we'll go thirsty. I'm debating if I should install cooler style drain valves.
  5. Ray was in the corolla. Yota. Has a 2009 corolla.
  6. I've been getting questions about the ammo can beer capacity for use up at mid Ohio, this should answer your questions. Ali included a pic of the new big windshield the previous owner sent me.
  7. I mean to mention earlier, the main inspiration for these boxes was this video from the KLR650reviews guy. His video links to where to buy this particular pannier rack. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPzs2n9Iia0 I also liked this guys 2 color scheme in black and yellow, I just did black and purple in stead. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMUgCtDWNUE And of course, there is halfthrottle, I love his videos. This video has some nice footage of a KLR with ammo cans http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gf1dbdNJMSc and this video is awesome even though there aren't ammo cans in it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M62y6BgvO-0
  8. Got my cans at armysurpluswarehouse.com
  9. Defiantly a better race if I use a bike that has less horsepower than the car.
  10. All rider skill baby. I really only held back so I could pass him on one wheel, which I did but I went by him so fast you can barely tell.
  11. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqZjoDj_9yg
  12. I don't think they look cheap either but they'd look out of place/cheap on a new Ducati or bimmer.
  13. A Ducati street fighter or a "I crashed my superbike and don't want to buy new fairings" street fighter? I think it could work good on the latter ammo cans only look good on a kind of ratty bike. On a something nice they would just look cheap.
  14. It's finished, cabnit pulls installed, and buttoned up.
  15. Here are a few more, just need to put the gaskets back in the lids and mount the cabinet pulls and they are done.
  16. It has purple gators too, it's 90s Kawi, at least that was my feeling.
  17. Day 3, we are getting close to finished. I'll be out of town for the weekend though so we'll have to resume Monday evening.
  18. Day 2!!! Got the 2nd box test fitted, took her for a ride, sanded the boxes, then base coat of POR15!!! This shit is totally Chip Foose!!!
  19. where in the hell are you. looks like a first person shooter game in the woods. Nice work!!!
  20. They are not light, that is true. But they are under $20 a piece and waterproof. Find another pannier box that can say that.
  21. A friend. I can ask him where to get more.
  22. prefer them to look nice and clean I guess. Going with Black and purple, to match some of the other sweet purple highlights. That and I'm doing the base with POR 15 so they will never rust again.
  23. Here are some pics from Day 1 of the project, test fitting. After I get the hardware on the other can then it's time to paint. I'll add pics to this thread as I make progress, hope to be mostly done by the end of the week.
  24. I might actually go taller on gearing, I joke I want klr power wheelies but really I want lower revs on the highway, I think the exhaust might give me the little extra grunt I need to do it. Let me know how your 685 kit works out, I've heard good reviews.
