Are Gateways still junk? AMD dual core 4gb RAM 320gb hardrive 4 USB ports 1 HDMI port SD slot $479

I tried an external drive last year for those exact reasons. Western Digital, & the damn thing tied up on me shortly after I got it & got all our pictures & music transferred over to it I let it try running through it's rebooting software, or whatever it is, overnight a couple different times, & both times woke up the next morning with it still running & only having gotten through a couple percent of the files At that rate, it was gonna take like a week, and each time I re-started it, it started all over from the very beginning, rather than where it left off at Pissed me off & I've just left it sit ever since. I'm thinking I may try it again once I get the new laptop & see if I get any better results

That price is at the high end of where I wanted to be. I think 4 is largest I've seen around that price point, or at all for that matter. 'Course, I haven't really been lookin' closely at units $600+ How's that processor? Solid? Dual core's are faster, correct? Roger on the former..... Never got much into gaming. Also for pictures, music, vid storage, etc ThanxIt would sure be a lot easier without all the family/kids/sports stuff to juggle with it

I wish Justin. 5 classes left to finish my business degree, but the one I'm taking in January is my last math class that I've been dreading for over a decade, & frankly, will be lucky to pass Combination of calculus & statistics...... Neither of which are my forte', though I know they're downright pre-school'ish for an enginerd like you

OK..... So since I think I squeaked an A in my first class after 12 years off, I had dangled a reward in front of myself of a new laptop. Here's one I'm seriously considering for $568. Think maybe it's the sweetspot between a netbook & a full service laptop. Anyone have one already, or know if that's a good processor? Do those specs/features sound like a good deal/value at that price? Doesn't say anything about battery life, & I'm hoping that shipping weight is about 3lbs heavier than the unit itself

Just curious. I'm about to get a new laptop, which I'm sure will probably come loaded with it Stupidest thing I've ever heard..... Went in to Best Buy 7-10 days ago to check out inventory/deals. Their shelves were completely empty save for $1,000 Sony sittin' there by it's lonesome. Saleskid asks if I've got any questions. I comment they don't have any inventory for me to ask questions about. He chuckles & says it's because 7 is coming out next week..... So they let their old inventory run out It's not like we're talking hardware upgrades here, that would require computers to be cracked open. It's just a software disk that needs uploaded??? Him & the Geek Squad kid just kinda shook their heads at me & one of them cocked off about it'd cost $160 for them to upgrade an old machine to the new software after it came out REEEAALLLY?!? To load a friggin' CD that Microsoft has been sayin' will be free to anyone who purchases a new computer after June 22?!? I just gave them both a big, incredulous smile & walked the fuck out

My first "official" time running with my Student Engineer card. Sam & I got screwed over by mgmt & put in the hotel the night before, & had to work all day Thanksgiving My 1st "official" time at the controls, Thanksgiving Day '04 401 southbound....Flatrock, MI to Cincinnati, OH The elusive Engineer Sam...... I've probably gotten more pix of him than his own family Picking up more power in Sharonville Yard, for a total of 5 motors, on my very first student run as a conductor on the IORY, March '04 Sam had me for my first Student Conductor trip as well as my first Student Engineer one.... Poor guy!!

Sam & I run over a bridge similar to this down in Quincy 'Bout 100 feet tall. Guy we work with used to climb it as a kid Not a real good picture of it. Doesn't do it justice..... Can't tell how high it is
